Kanye West is running for President as the candidate of "the Birthday Party," Elon Musk is advising him....

... and he's not for Trump anymore — "I am taking the red hat off, with this interview."

Here's the interview — in Forbes. Other high points:
... he’s ok with siphoning off Black votes from the Democratic nominee, thus helping Trump. “I’m not denying it, I just told you. To say that the Black vote is Democratic is a form of racism and white supremacy.”
... he’s never voted in his life.
... he was sick with Covid-19 in February.
... he’s suspicious of a coronavirus vaccine, terming vaccines “the mark of the beast.”
... he believes “Planned Parenthoods have been placed inside cities by white supremacists to do the Devil’s work.”
... he envisions a White House organizational model based on the secret country of Wakanda in Black Panther.
ADDED:
His running mate? Michelle Tidball, an obscure preacher from Wyoming. And why the Birthday Party? “Because when we win, it’s everybody’s birthday.”...

A few weeks after he ended two separate text chains with me with the message “Trump 2020” and a fist raised high, he insists he’s lost confidence in the president. “It looks like one big mess to me,” he says. “I don’t like that I caught wind that he hid in the bunker.”...

That said, he won’t say much more against Trump. He’s much less shy about criticizing Biden, which certainly won’t tamp down the idea that the Birthday Party is a ruse to help re-elect Trump. “I’m not saying Trump’s in my way, he may be a part of my way. And Joe Biden? Like come on man, please. You know? Obama’s special. Trump’s special. We say Kanye West is special. America needs special people that lead. Bill Clinton? Special. Joe Biden’s not special.”...
Kanye West is very good at saying interesting things. So's Trump. They're special.

“That is a form of racism and white supremacy and white control to say that all Black people need to be Democrat and to assume that me running is me splitting the vote. All of that information is being charged up on social media platforms by Democrats. And Democrats used to tell me, the same Democrats have threatened me…. The reason why this is the first day I registered to vote is because I was scared. I was told that if I voted on Trump my music career would be over. I was threatened into being in one party. I was threatened as a celebrity into being in one party. I was threatened as a Black man into the Democratic party. And that’s what the Democrats are doing, emotionally, to my people. Threatening them to the point where this white man can tell a Black man if you don’t vote for me, you’re not Black.”...

“I have to say with all humility that as a man, I don’t have all of the pieces in the puzzle. As I speak to you for what a political campaign—a political walk, as I told you, because I’m not running, I’m walking. I'm not running, we the people are walking. We’re not running anymore, we’re not running, we’re not excited—we are energized. Someone can say, ‘Hey, I got a brand new car for you, it’s across the street and you get so excited you run across the street and get hit by a car trying to run to your new car. That’s how they control the Black community, through emotions, they get us excited, we’re so excited, but then for 400 years the change doesn’t truly happen."...

“Oh one other thing, Black History Month. That is torture porn because when that comes up what we do is we see—and by the way, if I get that vibe—that’s the process and we are going to a beautiful, uplifting, fun, creative process as a people, as America collectively, and show the world how great we are. So here we go. Black History Month every year they gotta remind us about the fact that we couldn’t vote, they meaning white supremacy construct, and I said that with the CT at the end, I knew what was I was talking about...."...
I think he just said that Black History Month is a device of white supremacy, weighing black people down with sadness and ugliness.
“This man, Joe Biden, said if you don’t vote for me, then you are not Black.... ... I just gracefully suggest y’all bow out—Trump and Biden, gracefully bow out. It’s God’s country, we are doing everything in service to God, nobody but God no more. I am in service of our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, and I put everything I get on the line to serve God.”...

“[Y]ou got Kanye West, one of the most powerful humans—I’m not saying the most because you got a lot of alien level superpowers and it’s only collectively that we can set it free. Let’s get back to Wakanda… like in the movie in Wakanda when the king went to visit that lead scientist to have the shoes wrap around her shoes...."
Sorry, I didn't see the movie. I don't know about the wraparound shoes. Were aliens involved?
“Reinstate in God’s state, in God’s country, the fear and love of God in all schools and organizations and you chill the fear and love of everything else, so that was a plan by the Devil to have our kids committing suicide at an all-time high by removing God to have murders in Chicago at an all-time high because the human beings working for the Devil removed God and prayer from the schools.... I haven’t done enough research on that yet. I will research that with the strongest experts that serve God and come back with the best solution. And that will be my answer for anything that I haven’t researched. I have the earplug in and I’m going to use that earplug.”
I think he's saying he's listening to God and hearing from God, and the voice of God comes in through electronic amplification, metaphorically.
“I love China. I love China.... They’re God’s people also. I love China.... My mom as an English professor taught English in China when I was in 5th grade.”...

“Thou shalt not kill. I’m against the death penalty.”...

“Clean up the chemicals. In our deodorant, in our toothpaste, there are chemicals that affect our ability to be of service to God.”...
That's all very very interesting and entertaining, but way too religious... and kooky. That's why it's interesting and entertaining. But I've said it before, and I'll just sum it up with my longstanding tag: I'm for Boring.

ALSO: West is so dangerous to Biden that I presume his real intent — if he's not too wacky — is to help Trump. He is teaching black people not to go along with the Democrats. He's making a powerful, exciting argument that the Democrats are practicing systemic racism, tricking and controlling black people and holding them down, breaking their spirit. He's spiking that argument with religion and speaking as if he has divine inspiration and is hearing directly from God. If you get on his wavelength, it's madly uplifting.

OKAY: I'm pretty sure these are the shoes:

Somebody has a good sense of humor.Best line I've seen so far is that the Dems will pass a new law forbidding all Geminis from running for office.

Can you imagine watching Kanye take down Slow Joe Biden in a debate while Trump just watches and claims the higher ground.

I like Kanye and Elon. Two people who model what you can do even if you are bipolar. I'm very serious about this.

He isn't actually on a ballot in a single state, right?

Kanye has some bizarre album promotion ideas, but it seems like this must have been done before.

Glad he is giving Mitt Romney someone to write in, I guess.

I was hoping that he was going to run on the "Stop Racism" or "Anti-Racism" party.

Reading that is like panning for gold. You’ve gotta wash away a lot of sand and gravel to find a worthwhile nugget occasionally.

He may get many votes...if he can get on a ballot.

Neither Trump nor Biden is their party’s official nominee.

Biden hasn’t even picked a running mate to list beside him on the ballot.

You’re telling me there’s no time to add Kanye’s name?

I think that will just add fuel to his efforts.

Tom said...

Well, Kanye has a big problem. He’s not in any ballots and it’s too late in most states to make it.

But, Jo Jorgensen, the libertarian nominee, is on state ballots. She needs to, at minimum, he included in the debates.

If Joe doesn’t show up for the debates, Trump and Kanye can debate him in absentia.

They’ll just leave his empty podium on the stage.

Well, if Trump says one really nasty thing about Kanye, I'll assume (for the sake of argument) that Kanye is sincere about no longer supporting him. Otherwise I'm guessing they cooked this up together. Trump and reality TV go back a ways, after all.

"Clean up the chemicals."

I clean up chemicals all the time.

"In our deodorant, in our toothpaste, there are chemicals that affect our ability to be of service to God."

Meh. Aluminum chlorohydrex improves my ability to be of service to God. As for toothpaste, don't tell me he's upset about 0.25% sodium monofluorophosphate. Come on, Kanye, watch Dr. Strangelove to see where this leads. POE!

Yoko Ono has been my default write-in candidate since the death of Klaus Kinski back in the early 90's. Yoko has been doing poorly of late and I'm giving strong consideration to switching to Kanye should the unthinkable happen before November. Kanye has the double drawbacks of actually seeking the office and being a U S citizen, but I will deal. (The world will be a poorer place without Yoko, a realization I arrived at about 20 years ago, practically against my will.)

"Joe Biden’s not special."

That's a brilliant line, but I'm not sure who it helps.

Joe Biden's campaign theme is likely to be a return to normalcy, so perhaps having a President who isn't special will sound good, after the very special year we've been having.

Gusty Winds said...

Wow. The white supremacy of the Democrats expecting 100% of the black vote, and the Devil’s work of Planned Parenthood. Nobody likes a truth seeker. Especially white liberals.

wild chicken said...

Apparently he can still get on the ballot in most states as an independent. After all the parties' noms technically aren't chosen yet either.

Just a matter of the counties knowing in time to print the ballots.

But does he have the organization?

tim maguire said...

Of course he's going to say he's no longer for Trump, but the day he declared may as well have been Trump's birthday. He says all the right things to hurt Biden.

Don’t see how that works. Normalcy isn’t war torn inner cities and tearing down all of the statutes we have put up over the last two centuries to celebrate our heritage.

So with a heaping serving of word salad, Yeezey secures Althouse’s vote for Biden: she’s for boring (also stupid, dishonest, persistently wrong, corrupt, racist, old, and mentally ill?).

The next four years are going to be really special.

Vote for Joe and get Duckworth. She’ll do as she is told. What could be more boring than that?

@JPS - Even if Trump hates West now he is not going to say anything negative about him, he knows Kayne running hurts Biden.

West running will also out the many "anti-racism" groups that are really just Democrat party ops.

Bruce Hayden said...

The Dems should be shitting themselves right now. Victor Davis Hanson suggested this morning that the BLM and AntiFA wings of the Dem party cannot coexist that much longer. My theory is that one of the reasons that the Dem elites went all in, in BLM worship, was that Trump was making inroads into the Black vote, and they knew that they couldn’t win if they didn’t turn that around. They probably got a lot of the Black community back on the reservation, by pandering so openly and blatantly to them. Now Kanye comes along, and gives them a third alternative, one where they won’t think that they are voting for the enemy by voting for Trump, but still show independence from being a major Dem dependency. Most other potential Black leaders are too closely tied to the Dem party. Kanye isn’t, and they can’t control him. He really isn’t a horrible role model either. He has gotten rich by working hard (and marrying well). He has the sort of flash that a lot of the Black community likes, while preaching virtues that the older generations know need to be revived. I think that the Dems should be worried that West could take a bigger chunk of the Black vote than Trump ever could. This should be fun.

I like how both times Kanye referred to Biden’s racist remark he did not use “ain’t” even though Biden used that word.

Yancey Ward said...

It takes an organization in all 50 states to get on a ballot, and it takes good legal representation to fight the battle to get on that ballot when the Democrats in those states will put every single barrier in place to stop it.

However, the ballot issue is less important than West's ability to actually run a campaign that gets black people's attention. He can go full write in candidate. I know his detractors in this effort on the left make a lot of hay out of the fact that you still have to qualify as write in, but that is a red herring- no one expects West to win, including West. Write in qualification only matters if you have an actual chance to win- without qualification, the only thing that happens is write in votes for you don't get counted, but people can't vote for two candidates on a ballot, which is the only effect that matters.

Nonapod said...

So with a heaping serving of word salad, Yeezey secures Althouse’s vote for Biden: she’s for boring (also stupid, dishonest, persistently wrong, corrupt, racist, old, and mentally ill?).

The problem with being "for boring" as the only qualifier (which to be clear I'm not accusing Althouse of being for boring and only for boring) is that corruption itself is often boring. Corruption might not be a banality that rises (or descends) to Hannah Arendt's description of evil, but it's boring in that it's commonplace all around the world at all levels of society. People don't care enough about corrpution. In most places they just accept it.

I'm for boring too, but I'm for a sensible and competent form of boring, not the corrupt and demented kind.

Kayfabe: A carny word that means “fake”. This is generally used to describe the act of keeping the secrets of the wrestling business. Exposing the inner workings or secrets of the wrestling business is said to be “Breaking Kayfabe”. It is also used to describe the carny language wrestlers use to communicate with each other to avoid giving away the secrets of the business. Wrestlers also use the word Kayfabe to say to each other to warn them that an “outsider” to the business is coming near to let them know to keep quiet or change the topic of discussion to prevent giving away inside info or expose any secrets of the business.
