Comments need to be about these videos, not about TikTok more generally. The idea of a blog post is that it is new material, and I'm holding comments to the standard I follow.
Bringing to mind an episode of “Dream On” entitled “And Himbo was his Name-o”, which is a must watch for Terri Garr fans. You’ll never hear the word “although . .” in the same way again.
These particular TikTok videos remind me of the 50 TikTok videos about that I have posted on my blog about the movie Dirty Dancing
I read instapundit, comics curmudgeon, althouse in that order in the morning. So was surprised to see 'himbo' until I remembered Althouse reads comics curmudgeon too, I think.
Not about the video, but just funny how a rarely seen term (Seinfeldism) can show up in different places and make me feel there's a weird message the universe is sending me.

The guy’s an idiot. Do women deserve respect just because they are women? They type of woman who answers affirmatively is precisely the type that deserves respect only situationally, i.e., when they inadvertently do something right.
I can't tell is there's a video that you posted that is not appearing for me that may answer my question below. I see three videos in your posting (Himbo, the girl asking about a song, and the answer).
The video is funny, but I don't really understand why "respect for women" is a variable. A bimbo, the female equivalent and the portmanteau contributor to "himbo," would account for two variables, I think--idealized beauty and vapidness. A beautiful, smart woman is not a bimbo. An unattractive, shallow woman is not a bimbo, and an unattractive, smart woman is not a bimbo.
Why wouldn't a himbo consider the same two characteristics? The respect for women variable just seems like some of irrelevant nod to the me-too-movement.

Yeah, I noticed that after I posted. If I had noticed it before, I wouldn't have put it up. I don't know why this guy with a very good idea for a little comedy video needlessly allowed something into it that makes it far less sharable.
Frankly, I don't know why rappers put that in their music, which always causes me to immediately turn off whatever is playing and to regard it as unplayable in any public space. Why would you limit your audience? It seems the answer must be that it also increases the audience, but if that's what you are feeding people, you ought to wonder why they have an appetite for it.

I'm not seeing how the term "Himbo" - clearly derived from "bimbo" - indicates respect for women. At least at one time, bimbo essentially meant dumb blonde, with overtones of slut. But maybe those are now good things; who can keep up?
Himbo? Interesting. I prefer The Bobo, a 1967 Peter Sellers & Britt Eckland movie about a man whose goals are so far out of his reach, he becomes willing to suffer anything for a chance to achieve them. And yes, Britt Eckland is one of his goals, but secondary to Sellers becoming a matador!

The song in the video is one of the most popular current “sounds” on TikTok. It’s surprised me too that it appears to be acceptable for white people to use songs with the n-word as long as they don’t actually lip sync it. The most popular TikToker makes a “shhh” gesture when the word is in a song she’s dancing to.

I didn't connect with that himbo video. Too abstruse for Wilbur, or maybe the obverse is true.
A Korean War era novel about a black Army officer has him disciplining two of his troops, who fought over name calling. Especially if it was true.
Then he looked significantly at both his fighting soldiers, who broke up laughing and denied any such thing. The officer's sergeant noted a decline in both fights over name-calling, and also use of MF as an insult.

Gross to be cutesy about that. There are a lot of young females who don’t know how much rejection they could experience in the cancel culture. They’ve been encouraged to display their youthful cuteness.
First three videos won't load in my browsers (Brave or Chrome). The music video is absolutely mind-numbingly horrid.
I know my parents said the same about the music I liked, but that can't excuse everything. At some point it really can be lame and talent-less. We are there. Even the twenty-somethings I hang out with don't understand why the latest music is so bad and still popular, and they like Rap. It has gone the same way of politics. It's all aimed at not being good, not being tied to any standard, not being responsible to any set of values. That pretty much defines sucking.

I didn't mean it to be a swipe! I thought you read that site (since I think I found out about it here) and assumed that's why that word was in the air. Even more interesting that he used "himbo" and you used "himbo" this morning knowing you don't read it. One of those odd coincidences in life that don't mean anything but are interesting (and I say this genuinely, not as a swipe).

The Himbo guy is taking a static look at a dynamic field - he could profitably update his TikTok by making a diagram that tracks a guy's passage through the quadrants as he gets older. Hard to do for someone who is (maybe) 21, but perhaps he's figured out he won't be 21 forever. As you move from hook-ups, to dating, to 'relationship', to marriage and fatherhood, you also move through his quadrants. Probably ending up in Simp-ville. Not so bad, all things considered.
One thing I appreciated about the himbo video is the implication that personal attractiveness (“hotness”) is something you have control over. Very unusual these days.
In my decades long research I've found that women like any combination of men residing in the two upoer quadrants of the Himbo graph. Women's wants and needs fluctuate back and forth across those two areas and any man that can combine those two quadrant needs of women and dish them out either on demand or present a reasonable facimile of learned charisma is gold.
You'll get laid. A lot. At will.

I thought the same think, in part do to the video's style and some of his moves. I think he was riffing on Gungnam Style as well with his vocalizations but what do I know? I have never heard of the guy or seen anything else he has done. That may be his "shtick".

Politically correct does not capture the essence of the Pro-Choice, selective, opportunistic religion of the Church. Although, different sects will set different thresholds for conformance and tolerance, and cannot, and should not, be discerned through a diversitist perspective.

Whereas women can be hot and everyone agrees they are hot, very few men are in that category. For men you are generally only hot for women who find you hot and the reasons can be baffling or unknown.
As others have noted if there was a 'Bimbo' quadrant analysis the y axis would also be attractiveness, but the x axis would be intelligence, with a Bimbo occupying the hot and dumb quadrant. But the 'Himbo' analysis has an axis for "Respect for Women" It is odd that a joke about men still is still about women. Is this a corollary to the Althouse rule of media coverage on the differences between men and women? (not sure if this is her rule or she just noted it earlier) Where when the media cover anything about differences between men and women it is usually portrayed as a positive thing about women. So is this Himbo joke just well crafted to the presumably majority female Tik Tok audience? Does it say something in general about the vanity of women... err I mean does it say something about how women are generally more in touch with their self than men?

There is only so much that nature allows. And beyond a very, very limited flexibility often won through great adversity, one quickly gets to the point of diminishing returns.
You know you have "it" if you overhear native women (like the French) talk to each other about you in the appropriate manner. At my age, a gratifying boost to my vanity, impractical as it is.
Also, no man is either on the left or right; it is all about tactics, presentation analysis, camouflage, or opportunity. We all do like to rationalize so, so much, but the fact is we are all pretty much the same.
The girl asking about the song is funny because of how accurate her rendition turns out to be.
