The lies are unraveling:

The USA is not worst, by a long shot

Some FL Hospitals have not reported all the data

Texas has miscounted too

Here in Maine the numbers are still very low. There will be golf, cocktails out, and some beach time this weekend. I will wear my mask when expected, not because I believe it makes any difference but to stop you know who from yelling at me.

Still no reporting on the studies showing that children do not transmit the virus to adults. Still plenty of talk about how we must cautiously, if at all, open the schools. So called Responsible Covid response has become a cult of which I am not a member.

I've been thinking about the White Culture poster that the National Museum of American History and Culture (part of the Smithsonian in Washington, DC) and the White Supremacy Culture slide from the New York City schools posted the other day, and although it's definitely a real issue, since things like this are becoming increasingly prevalent in the schools, it is unfortunate because it kind of hides what is going on.

I mean for people my age, and even decades younger, it is easy to reject this. And so we think this is a problem that can easily be surmounted because it is so obviously crazy. But I'm not so sure it's that easy for children to reject this who are taught this from a young age when they become adults.

What we need to do, if we can, is to destroy the schools and then rebuild them from the ground up. Because if we don't they are going to kill us or are grandchildren.

And these posters and slides are misleading. I don't know whether it is accidental or deliberate but this is the sugar-coated version of what the schools are teaching. What the schools are teaching is that white people are evil.

That sound you’re hearing is classical music’s long overdue reckoning with racism

"Data collected from 500 American orchestras for a 2016 study by the League of American Orchestras paints a starkly white picture when it comes to diversity in classical organizations. Its key finding: the “proportion of nonwhite musicians represented in the orchestra workforce — and of African American and Hispanic/Latino musicians in particular — remains extremely low.”

How many shows has NBC had in their history with racist blackface performances?

I know of The Office, and I've heard about 30 Rock. This is within the last two decades.

Why isn't the racist NBC erased like the racist NFL is going to be erased?

Blacks can do twice as good with half the effort of whites if only just given a mere chance, and we will all see soon a non-racist league of football. Imagine the greatness without all the racism pervading every breath every black body in the NFL now takes?

Racists, your days are over now!

Netflix was a first mover into a marketplace that had little competition.
Now that every other media company is putting its own content on demand, Netflix has lost its primary advantage.
Plus, they overpaid for 'talent' like the Obamas.
Poor choices on that.

As their rights to others' intellectual property come to a natural end, Netflix has little to offer.

I think Netflix will exist in 5 years.
And so will MySpace.

Joy Reid Loses To La Liberte: MSNBC Host Creates New Precedent Binding Media

"She was sued in one of the most notorious postings on social media by Roslyn La Liberte, a Trump supporter, who was trashed by Reid for comments that she never made and an account that proved to be untrue. Reid relied on California’s Anti-Slapp statute and immunity arguments to try to force La Liberte out of court, even though she again later apologized. Now the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit has handed down a major ruling against Reid that could undermine future defenses by media figures."

Just, really, helped, all people, achieve true empowerment. Better than any religion. Better than anyone who designed or sold or beneficially critiqued something practiful in usecul terms.

Maude determined she owned the dude's body and got "consent" of anal play through deceit, plus the stealing of the dude's sperm without a contract. Maude ought be in prison because of her deception and lies. And, also, she is only a mere white woman, responsible for extreme violence in America against black bodies. Voting for Democrats make it worse, as they minimize the pain.

Clarke?? isn't listened to, as a second rate person behind the star, the whacked-out super lefty prog driver (movie star, singer star, porn star, podcast star, instagram star, youtube star, sports star, writer star, producer star, director star, etc) and foolish pain ensues.

And the non-whacked out white guy kind of laughs at it all knowing what's gonna happen but unwilling, afraid, to say anything to actually prevent the foolish pain.

Crack as Clarke?? is saying hey now, don't stab that knife in your leg to random, random kinda to him I assume here at the Althouse blog, white people. It is a message that needs to be said, but not necessarily anywhere beyond the prog freaks he lives amongst--because they are the only ones with the knives-- but they are all so farly fucked it is no use, so he says it here.

I believe there is value in this valid information. If someone says they want to kill you, by God listen. If someone says he is trying to help, listen and learn.

The Sweden / Michigan comparison seems to have turned out as I hoped and expected. Sweden did not take the top down draconian shutdown measures done here, yet performed about the same and in these later days, better. Compared to Michigan so far they did better at roughly 80 per million less deaths, despite starting out higher. They are not seeing the resurgence seen here. They have had a week of 2 or less deaths per day, although yesterday they had 10, but Michigan had 18.

Basically they took a non-politicized approach, and were not interested in destroying their economy, nor did they have leaders throwing political weight around and threatening their own citizens. Also, no "mostly peaceful protests".

Your mistake there is thinking they overpaid for 'talent" like the Obamas. They didn't pay anything for supposed future Obama productions. The Obama money- already paid out, is a payoff for services rendered, probably laundered through Netflix from others all nice and legal like.

It's like the huge advance given to Hillary for her last book- which I think was remaindered the day it was released. I bought the hardcover for $0.99. (Still haven't read it- it's in a pile somewhere.) No possible way for it to make the advance she was given for it. If a publisher were to offer Trump the same deal as he leaves office- Democrat prosecutors would jump on prosecuting the publishing house-even as the book achieved best seller status because it would be both readable and entertaining- and mostly written by a ghostwriter with Trump input.

On a highly personal note, I got new crowns for my front teeth today, replacing ones that were ~30 years old. The improvements in technology in the intervening decades are astounding.

The reason I have crowns is because I was given tetracycline as a baby so many of my permanent teeth came in without enamel. It's not a good look, and it has had varying levels of psychological effects on me over the years. But having ugly or obviously fake teeth is something I've been dealing with my whole life. I wonder what it will be like now that all my teeth look natural?

Dentistry/orthodontia and eye care are two medical areas that are mostly out of the regular health insurance loop, and it seems to me they have had the most rapid advancements in treatments while simultaneously lowering costs to patients. Just think how the rest of medical care could operate if they could get out from under the health insurance bureaucracy. (Stanislaw Lem wrote a charming fable about the lethality of paperwork in The Cyberiad, highly recommended.)

It’s Later Than I Thought
By Skip Moen, Ph.D. / July 17, 2020

(A politically-incorrect evaluation)

I thought it wouldn’t happen until my grandchildren had to deal with it. I thought I had time. My children might notice real differences, but the truly horrible impact would be later.

I was wrong.

Since the first time I visited South Africa, I would tell my American acquaintances that if they wanted to see where America was heading, they should fly to Johannesburg with me. That was ten years ago. The continual political corruption, the collapse of a work-ethic culture, the flight of prosperity and the ubiquitous presence of racial tension defines South Africa. Forget Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu. South Africa is far from a “rainbow nation.” As I used to say, “It’s a Black and White nightmare.” People I knew who live there used the phrase, “a culture of theft.” Everything was racist. I remember my shock at reading employment ads that stated, “Whites need not apply.” But I always got on an airplane and flew back to “safe” America. Occasionally, I saw hints of this kind of collapse but I didn’t think it would boil into revolution in my lifetime. I wasn’t so sure about the world of my grandchildren.

I was wrong.

Sweden is at 550 deaths per million, the USA at 422 so if you know they did better, please tell me Saturday night’s winning lotto numbers. If you compare them to like countries in Scandinavia, it’s far worse for Sweden. Sweden ranks with the countries that got hit hard first before we knew what was going on, for which there is no excuse for them. We got hit in NYC which had Sweden like policies as the virus got out of control there, which accounts for a large percentage of our deaths. The UK also followed a Sweden like policy until the deaths became unacceptable and there they are in the top three too.

What you are engaging in is called motivated reasoning. You want something to be true really badly so you don’t critically examine your position.

On a side note, there was a statistical analysis that showed that banning cholorquinine led to a jump in the death rate and lifting the ban led directly to a drop. How many people did the DNC media kill just to try to score points against Trump? Thousands? Maybe. Michigan is a place where it was banned.

"What you are engaging in is called motivated reasoning. You want something to be true really badly so you don’t critically examine your position."

What you are engaging in is moving the goal posts. I have been comparing these two populations since this began, without knowing how it would turn out. You are using hindsight to cherry pick your comparison, and imagining that is scientific. It's not. There are populations that did better and worse, including nearby ones in Europe, but Sweden was unique in its approach, and yet did not suffer especially for it. That's the point. Some places have destroyed their economies, which will lead to even more deaths than the virus did.
