Hard to imagine any other @POTUS having the guts to walk out of the White House like this: @realDonaldTrump pic.twitter.com/R9Da6W7Hhb

I'll just gather some of the responses without troubling with links: "A five minute walk literally surrounded by armed men, going to place he ordered brutally purged of demonstrators so he could take a picture. Yeah, that's balls of steel"/"Didn't attend service. Only stayed long enough to get his picture taken with an unopened Bible, then left with his entourage"/"Scott, he had the path cleared by tear gas, pepper spray and flash bombs. I'll sit in the bleachers at a Brewers/Cubs game with that kind of support. By the way, President Richard Nixon met with protesters at the Lincoln Memorial after Kent State."
Ha ha. Yes, and remember the credit Richard Nixon got for that? As I remember it, he was regarded as out of his mind and a complete weirdo.

Commander in Chief leading. Other Presidents do it from the green.
We traded in one of the best governors in the nation for feckless non-entity Evers. The joke is on us.
Similarly, if America elects feckless, senile fool Biden in November, we shall deserve what we get.
Trump is not my idea of a great leader, but he's miles ahead of the alternatives. We truly have the worst political class in America in my lifetime. And the worst media in the history of the universe.
Obama would have hid in bunker, and blamed Bush like he did for his whole 8 years. Trump delivers...and goes to the scene of the blatant distruction of Progressive Hate. Trump has bigger balls than any President in my lifetime.
We need more brutally purged demonstrators at this point. The peaceful protesters have had their time in the sun. Anyone still out there is a useful idiot at best and a provocateur at worst. More tear gas, or whatever it takes to restore order.
White suprema-President says FU to the DC Losers. And no masks worn.
Yeah, Nixon wasn't the right-wing "Law n'order" guy people made him out to be. And Trump is NEVER going to get ANY credit from the Democrats/Press. EVER.
Their hatred of Trump is truly remarkable. Along with the MSM's willingness to lie and misrepresent Trump day after day for almost 3.5 years, its shocked me. These people never should get uncontrolled power. EVER. Even when we have a pandemic and riots the Democrats/Press don't care, they just see all this tragedy as a chance to destroy Trump. They don't care about the Country, just their petty hatreds.
Didn't Trump just ask Whidmer to invite the protesters in and make a deal with them?
Good people on both sides and all.
There is NOTHING Trump can do that would ever get him praise from the usual suspects. There is always something. The lights are off at the WH! Stupid trump turned the lights off and hid in his bunker. They don't care that Secret Service turned the lights off to give them an advantage, and Secret Service took him to the bunker. None of the truth matters to the usual suspects.
The term for what Trump did is “domination.”
Which riot has Biden ended?
And the story in WAPO (Whopper edition) is that the Bishop of the church is SEETHING that Trump moved the protestors away from the building for the walk. I hope that when the next fire breaks out that they tell her to pray for rain.
Great that the Episcopal Church thinks hate is the way to react - but they stand for nothing anymore, so why even care?
Whatever you think of it, it ends any "Trump is locked in his bunker" talk.
Here's how the press covered Obama during Ferguson: Obama's Vacation from Hell
President Barack Obama really wanted to take a vacation. But then the world intervened.
The president’s plan to snag two weeks off in Martha’s Vineyard has been an utter failure, marking his worst attempt at relaxation since the Detroit underwear bomber consumed his 2009 Christmas holiday in Hawaii.
On the eve of his departure late last week, Obama authorized airstrikes in Iraq to beat back Islamist militants from committing genocide. Then as he wrapped up his first round of golf on the Massachusetts island Saturday night, The Atlantic interview with Hillary Clinton hit the Web, sparking days of speculation about the fraying Clinton-Obama relationship.
The White House thought it might get beyond the frenzy du jour on Wednesday night when it released much-anticipated details of their interaction at a birthday party — they toasted the guest of honor and even sat close to each other!
But by midnight, as protests over a fatal police shooting in Ferguson, Missouri, spun out of control, a White House spokesman posted on Twitter that Obama had been briefed on the situation. And early Thursday afternoon, Obama was back in front of the cameras, delivering his fourth statement on chaotic world events since his vacation began.
A symbolic act by the President at the right time for the right reasons. No, can't have that.
You people just eat up the theater don't you. You can see the pain from the bone spurs from each step bring a grimace on his flaccid face.
So many people on Twitter have no idea how limited their perspective is.
Nice photo!
When Trump bravely held up that bible, I half expected a bolt of lighting to come down from the heavens...
Looks like the Bishop wasn’t exactly pleased with Trump’s publicity stunt.
The Rev. Mariann Budde, whose diocese St. John's belongs to, said she was “outraged” by Trump's visit and noted that he didn’t pray while stopping by the church, a landmark known for its regular visits from sitting presidents since the early 19th century.
"He took the symbols sacred to our tradition and stood in front of a house of prayer in full expectation that would be a celebratory moment," Budde said in an interview Monday after her statement on Trump's visit was posted to the diocese's Twitter account.
Democrats value personal exposure to danger. Remember Hilary Clinton dodging bullets on an airport tarmac? Recall Joe Biden pinning a medal on a remorseful Navy Captain at a forward fire base in Afghanistan?
Until they don't...
Everything said about Trump's security and penchant is true of every President and therefore I agree and reject it as irrelevant. I am reminded though of an episode of West Wing where the very liberal writers had the Democratic President do a similar stunt. Everybody sees it as a stunt but still find it effective.
Well at least the corona virus is over.
Lots of guts visible in that photo.
There's only one person wearing a mask -- a female. Is it Ivanka?
Ahead of Trump Bible photo op, police forcibly expel priest from St. John's church near White House
All for a Trump photo op. Such a brave deed.
Yes, and remember the credit Richard Nixon got for that? As I remember it, he was regarded as out of his mind and a complete weirdo.
I thought that was a poignant moment and something very out of character for Nixon, but the consensus seemed to be that it was a sign that he was nuts or coming unhinged. Now that everything is spin and nothing is on the level, I don't know what to think about Nixon's meeting the protesters. Everything is calculated and the unsuccessful gambits are characterized as crazy or stupid.
The bunker story is bunk. The Whitehouse is a bunker, impervious to anything short of heavy artillery or missiles.
Then, on the roof are a bunch of snipers, shoulder launched missiles, gatling guns and probably other weaponry we don't even know about.
Not new to PDJT, this fortification and weaponry goe back at least to truman and the Whitehouse rebuild.
PDJT is in a bunker all the time he is in the white house

Well at least the corona virus is over.
God bless you, Dr. Obela.
It would have been better theater if Trump had walked across Lafayette Square stepping over the bodies of dead Antifa members (or, as Inga and Howard would have it, the bodies of white supremists). Maybe next Sunday!
The Rev. Mariann Budde, whose diocese St. John's belongs to, said she was “outraged”
The female Bishop is a perfect example of why the Episcopal church is dying. In LA, the "bishop" sold the church in Newport Beach to a developer rather than let the congregation that built it have possession. The historic church is important. The modern Inga bot officials of the dying church are not. The African Episcopal church is growing in the US,
The cynicism is killing us. Symbolism is always going to be important. The left uses it. Trump is using it as our leader to show the nation that the values of the rule of law and the path of faith remain important. Go ahead and sneer Ann.
Their hatred of Trump is truly remarkable. Along with the MSM's willingness to lie and misrepresent Trump day after day for almost 3.5 years, its shocked me.
Not me. It is a bit of a surprise that they are so open about it. The Ingas lap it up.
It will certainly be interesting to see if this works in November. I doubt it but as HL Mencken said, "Nobody ever lost money underestimating the American public."
Thanks for the link, Inga.
You did notice, I am sure, that the priest was not actually in the church. Right?
And that he had no affiliation with the church?

Howard said... Lots of guts visible in that photo.
It takes a lot of guts to be a phony internet ex-Marine, but Howie is up to the task.
I think Ann is getting deranged syndrome all of a sudden. Her poll on the bible is a big tell. No room for nuance. There could be multiple reason why he did it overlapping the answers. Was the bible a photo op sure it was but it also demonstrated how the rioters can be moved and controlled if there is a will. Time to break out the water cannon IMHO and clean the streets.
Ha ha. Yes, and remember the credit Richard Nixon got for that? As I remember it, he was regarded as out of his mind and a complete weirdo.
Big difference. Nixon was trying to gin up support among moderates, Trump's show was more about driving the left crazy than solidifying support with his base.
Here's my question: in what sense are the protestors now "peaceful"?
When it's clear that rioters, looters, & left-wing extremists are using the "peaceful" protestors as useful idiots to hide among, "peaceful protest" becomes "the enabling of violence". Sorry, morally, that's the way it is.
Do those protestors have a permit? No. And, when the authorities tell you to clear Lafayette Park & you do not do so, you are no longer "peaceful". It's really amazing what mental leaps the media will go through to justify the unjustifiable.
I just love how the local authorities are making excuses for the "peaceful protestors". If a couple of thousand of Right To Lifers, the gentlest protestors on the planet, showed up at the Mayor's office without a permit, they'd all shit their panties.

The Park Police say they didn't use tear gas, they used smoke canisters. Today's liberals, progressives, and whatnot are so dumb they can't distinguish between tear gas and smoke... But I, being left over from the '60s, definitely can.
Howard, do the world a big, big favor by eating a barrel of a gun.

If everyone thought that Nixon was crazy for doing that--does that mean he was crazy? Or was he doing something that did take some guts?
Oddly enough, Oliver Stone's movie Nixon seemed to suggest the latter.
My view is that Nixon had a lot of guts. He may have been weird, but he was a fighter. Only a guy with a lot of capacity to take hits would have run for President again after he lost for Governor of California. Nixon often referred to the quality he saw in Teddy Roosevelt, that of staying in the arena even if it meant defeat.
