Is it the cowboy hat and the green leotard?

Of course they aren’t. Silly goose.

I do not not believe they are. Insufficient evidence.

But, let’s assume they aren’t. Then what? They came to town to riot. Are the black ones from Aryan Nation? No, if they are out of towers they are far more likely to be antifa.

Or...if you look around your sociology class at UoW, you might recognize some of them.

In every video of people smashing windows, stealing goods, you see many more people 'capturing it' on their phones than the actual number of people doing the damage, stealing, and/or beating up people. One wonders, in another era, before iPhones and social media, if everyday people, your neighbors, the people you pass on the street, would bond together to stop WHAT THEY KNOW AND EVERYONE KNOWS IS WRONG. It's crazy to approach the mob alone. But if the larger mob is the mob of good people standing up to the losers, what would happen?

Instead of taking pictures of the ruin of a city, your city, or someone else's neighborhood, why not stop it? En masse? Where are the good people these days?

Maybe at home, loading their weapons, and waiting...?

Are there really enough hardened Antifa activists to spread around the country? There may be some everywhere, but most of the people rioting and looting are probably locals. Arguably, if you hear about riots going on in a nearby city and you want a piece of the action you might go there, but if you come from a large city and there are riots going on where you are, you aren't going to shlep out to some smaller city where there's less swag.

Wouldn't a group of people NOT from Madison/locally almost certainly have backpacks or similar with their vital stuff?

If you are coming into town for a night of rioting, don't you bring with you supplies, food, drinks, phone, probably a portable charger, masks, maybe a change of clothes, etc.

I would assume anyone NOT carrying a backpack is probably local because they know their belongings are safe somewhere (and not in a car) and they can gain access to food/water/supplies as needed.

Lovely to see how integrated the looters are.

Yancey Ward said...

The "they are not from here" is just horseshit. In 80% of the arrests that have been made, the arrested are local. Just do the minimal work online, and you will see in city after city the arrest records for these events show that 80%+ of the rioters and looters arrested are from the cities and surrounding suburbs. They aren't coming from far away- they live in the cities for the most part.

This applies to Antifa, too- the members aren't being bused in from far away either- the organization has a broad on-line membership with local members to be found everywere in the urban environment, and they do communicate with each other with encrypted messaging. They mostly aren't funded from far away, either- expenses are out of pocket for the members. People are looking for a strongly hiarchal organization when there really isn't one- it is one of the organization's strengths, though. It is hard to decaptitate an organization that resembles a hydra more than it does S.P.E.C.T.R.E.

realestateacct said...

It is possible to add terrorism coverage to a standard commercial policy for an additional premium. The premiums are more affordable than they would be because after 9/11 a backstop re-insurance fund was created that kicks in after a certain amount of claims - I think 200 million but going off memory here. It has not been accessed ever. In general civil unrest is an exclusion in your homeowners policy.

‘How's about arresting them and finding out?‘

I suspect that is what has happened and the is why ghe Governor of MN already said there were outside entities embedding themselves in the protests and actually doing some of the destruction, while inciting and instigating others to do the same.

They are accelerationists.

White Supremacists Embrace "Accelerationism"

“Accelerationism is a term white supremacists have assigned to their desire to hasten the collapse of society as we know it. The term is widely used by those on the fringes of the movement, who employ it openly and enthusiastically on mainstream platforms, as well as in the shadows of private, encrypted chat rooms. We have also recently seen tragic instances of its manifestation in the real world.

The concept of acceleration has existed for years as a fringe philosophy. Some of the earliest examples are rooted in a Marxist notion that the intensification of an unhinged force, such as capitalism, for example, will inevitably result in that force’s own self-destruction. However, some white supremacists have adopted the terminology and determined that a societal collapse is both imminent and necessary. On March 21, 2019, one anonymous 8chan user, who promoted white supremacist views, wrote, “I used to think acceleration was a marxist [sic] trick…Now, however, I see its value.””

Re non-locals not being arrested. That may be true but that doesn't mean non-locals are not being detained.

Carlos Osweda has posted at least 2 clips of apparent leaders being scooped up by large, fit, men not in any kind of uniform but with military gear items.

These were in Minneapolis over the weekend. Where it is fairly peaceful now.

He posits special forces. He posits that they are being detained as terrorists. No arrest, not trip to a jail. No public record. But definitely detained.

MN DFL hacks are desperately trying to deflect blame away from the thuggish element of Minnesotans that are not "Minnesota nice." The other day, over 86% of those arrested in St. Paul were from Minnesota.

They sound like those southern Democrat politicians that used to blame outside agitators during the civil rights era. "Minnesota Summer" has a nice echo of "Mississippi Summer". Maybe there will be GOP registration drives in around Minnetonka.

Sounds like the same chorus in Madison. "Those outside agitators are coming in here and stirring up our looters!"

Inga: I read the article to which you linked. It's an interesting theory and I don't doubt that there are several dozen people out there that subscribe to it. It puzzles me that although we have had lots of atrocities (Synagogue murders for example) the "dominoes" never fall. You'd think that would be obvious to these folks- unfortunately, they are mentally deranged.
Do those people have characteristics in common with the criminal underclass that have been rioting and looting? They are both groups of (mostly) young, disaffected people that are enraged at a system that, in their perception, keeps them "down". In reality what keeps them down is they may lack the character traits necessary to navigate in the larger world: self-reliance, self-discipline, integrity, impulse control, ability to plan, a basic work ethic, and maybe most importantly, a stable family structure that instills those traits.
