If you don't know this, then you don't know his work for decades. I can guarantee all of you- he made you laugh in your life. Either him directly, or one of the people who worked with him or learned from him. He made millions laugh. Something starkly missing from this race-infused, Marxist-cultist leaning world we now have where nothing is funny.
Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid is a brilliant work of art.
As comedy, it's pretty funny.
But as cinema, it's amazing. It might be original art. I can't think of another film that successful incorporates clips from other art into its own art while keeping a narrative alive. I can't even describe what the filmmakers did. You have to watch it and think about it. Think about writing that screenplay! Astounding.
Dick van Dyke Show is readily streamable, and I watch an episode just about every day. It never gets stale. He brought the Alan Brady character back for a Mad About You episode in the 90s, and recaptured the character perfectly.
He was great in the Dick Van Dyke show, the brains behind the whole thing. Probably the only thing he did that will last. He did some movies, but they're all mediocre. Even worse, he thought he was a great comedy performer and insisted on casting himself in his films. He probably should've stayed BEHIND The camera.
He had his 15 minutes. Turned out to be a bitter old man, outlived his fame and influence (if any) and set his son up to continue in the Hollywood aristocracy. Meathead would never have gotten there by himself. Just one more voice, silenced now, in a loud, liberal, me too crowd. I enjoyed the Dick Van Dyke Show when it was on the air. But, that is in the past and will be forgotten as most entertainments are. Thanks for the memories. Nothing here to see. Adios! Now, God has you in His presence.
Carl Reiner was and remains a disgusting racist, working all those decades within a structure of ultra-mega racism and perversion. If anyone ever builds a statue to Reiner, I will tear that fucker down.
Carl Reiner may have been the funniest straight-man I've ever seen/heard. The only challenger I can think of was Bud Abbott. But Reiner worked with many fine comics.

should have been his insufferable son
I'll never forgive him for filing that class action suit against Navin Johnson.

I wonder if Mel will follow him soon. Those two seemed to need each other.
"I don't care about losing all the money. It's losing all the stuff."
That's my definition of a Good Attitude.
Good life.
He was great in the Oceans 11 movies.

He was an extremely talented man. RIP.
I wonder how he felt about his idiot son.

Mel Brooks? Funny. Carl Reiner? Good straightman
I feel most sad for Mel Brooks
I stumbled across this Mel Brooks interview, and he speaks a little about his relationship with Carl Reiner.
He will be missed by me. One of the greats.
“Some java, some joe, some sludge, some beans...)
I have been using that line for getting coffee since the first time I saw Steve Martin say that in 1982 (3?).
Your basic barista has no idea what that means.
Mel, Bob Newhart and Carol Burnett.
We gotta get them somewhere safe and take care of them.
Wow. Mel Brooks had dinner with him every night. I hope it was Brooks who found him, that would suck.
Somebody needs to start checking on Brooks the way he checked on Reiner. Brooks has lost almost every one who was dear to him at this point.
RIP Carl
Suck on it Meathead.
He was more likable than meathead.
Mockturtle, you're back!!!
Missed ya'

He was a great straight man. And a great writer.
Howard: "I feel most sad for Mel Brooks"
Your pals are busy cancelling the entirety of Mel's life's work.
My 1:00PM comment should read "I hope it wasn't...."
Check out Carl and Mel, here. Real to the end.

Funniest 2000-y.o. Man joke:
Reiner: So, oldtimer, what was the main means of locomotion back in your day?
Brooks: Fear!
