"Now, in America, there's quite, I'll say, narrow-minded thinking. Black people, white people — we are same... human, brother, sisters..."

"We should emphasize oneness — sameness — emphasize that. All these strong feelings of differences, that's shortsighted — narrow-minded."

Said the Dalai Lama, rejecting what he called "old thinking," quoted at "The Dalai Lama on the coronavirus, Donald Trump, and 'old thinking' in America" (NBC).

Need to cancel the Lama ASAP.

Total wrongthink. Intersectionality and Identity Politics is the wave of the future. Moral arc of the universe and all that.

So he's suggesting that All Lives Matter. That's the kind of talk that could get him #Cancelled.

Yeah, racism only, and has only, existed in America. Everywhere else around the world people of different races and backgrounds get together every night around a campfire, hold hands and sing "Kumbaya" and "I'd like to buy the world a Coke".

This is the best viewpoint I've heard about our current situation. Bravo.

Unfortunately, the media profits from creating racial animosity, so they aren't going to change.

But BLM divisiveness pays dividends. How much Madison tax money goes to them?

I think you meant CBS for your attribution.

That is how I grew up. We were all humans. I lived in a diverse neighborhood growing up, and never thought it was anything different. I don't understand why Joe Biden HAS to nominate a black woman. It should be the most qualified, but the times are changing. We are heading back to segregation. Progression is regressive......We are going backwards.

Karen would like to have a word with the Dalai Lama's manager.

In all seriousness, if the CCP could not cancel him then perhaps nobody can.
Here's hoping he said sensible things.

Sorry, you can't have a comment thread with the Dalai Lama without a Caddyshack reference.

Who knew the Dalai Lama was a fascist. He seems to be channeling Trump's inauguration speech.

Uh, oh. DL being politically incorrect. Next, he's gonna tell us to be compassionate toward police officers.

But then, he was always part of SWPL, so eff him.

Other than travel and logistics, what's "sort of complicated" in meeting with Trump, other than the blowback from the haters?

Kevin said...

Trump?

He’s not the one demanding people shout black lives matter.

Man, that's old thinking, reincarnated from another age one might say.

I bought the bumper sticker, but I still haven't gotten any of that Free Tibet the Dali Llama promised.

Diversity (i.e. color judgments, not limited to skin) and exclusion breeds adversity.

n.n said...

So he's suggesting that All Lives Matter

He probably thinks #BabyLivesMatter, too. He's anti-#Diversity. He's anti-#SocialProgress. #Reprehensible #HateLovesAbortion

"Dolly Llama opposes Affirmative Action"

Affirmative discrimination, yes. Affirmative action need not include diversity quotas, diversity judgments, diversity labels, blood libels.

Individual rights as the basis for limited government works. Let's go back to that.

Old thinking = listening to dudes who let others think he's reincarnated or some shit.

Fuck him.

It takes a twisted mind to equate what the Dalai Lama said with the President on the issue of equality. His Holiness is speaking against racism and nationalism. The Black Lives Matter movement is an attempt to lift the treatment of black people up to plane of existence in this country enjoyed by others. This is what the Dalai Lama is addressing. If “All Lives Mattered” in our nation, then skin color would have no impact whatsoever. Instead, we know that by virtually any metric, the lives of black people are worse, on average, from the disparities in prenatal care to the average age at death along with every step along the way. When black lives matter just as much as others, then we will have the oneness that the Dalai Lama spoke about.

But you knew this.

MacMacConnell said...

Black Lives Matter and Antifaschistische Aktion are Marxist whose short term mission is to defeat Trump. They have replaced the Klan as the Democrats political militia. Their long term goal is to de-legitimize America's founding, get us to Day Zero and grab power by any means necessary.

I wish the dolly llama would find a cave on a high cliff in Tibet and tell someone there who cares what he thinks.

Some, select, Black Lives Matter. Unforced optics.

Need to cancel the Lama ASAP.

Dalai Lama is foward-thinking, he rejects the old-fashioned modes of diversity, pro-choice religion, affirmative discrimination, human sacrificial rites, etc.

Something I've long pointed out. When I was in grade school, school Scouts, Church, all institutions, taught that. We were all the same. Sameness was emphasized and taught, not differences.

Fear of different is hardwired into the human brain at birth. It's necessary for survival in the world. Especially the world of old. Used to all the men with beards? Clean shaven Cossacks ride through? RUN AND HIDE! Used to seeing dos around. This big cat shows up in the middle of the road. RUN AND HIDE! One of the big problems with Disney films of old is that too many thought the depictions of peaceful populated by peaceful animals was real. It isn't. Nature, when you're out in it, is trying to kill you.

When children reach the age of reason hey can start appreciating differences. You tell a 5 year old that blacks and whites are different, whichever one the child isn't is placed into the subconcious as "BAD!" because Same is Good, Different is Bad".

Her Choice. Case-in-point: SARS-CoV-2. Ectopic pregnancy. Also, lions and tigers. And, of course, evolution!

I just got an email from a church men's group that I have been avoiding going to. It's too political. Their next (virtual zoom) meeting will be about systemic racism and white privilege. I will continue avoidance.
