It’s my understanding that Hawk Newsome flew to Minneapolis from NYC, I assume his resident state, the first night of the riots. He crossed state lines, assuming he was involved in the looting and destruction isn’t that a federal crime? Why hasn’t the Feds picked him up?

Oh, this is rich. Donald Trump claimed that the twenty most crime-ridden cities in the US are all run by Democrats. The Washington Post refutes this — with great asperity they report that only 19 of the top 20 are run by Democrats. The city with the third highest rate of crime per 10,000 residents, Springfield, MO, is run by an independent. Case closed.

Something has happened to reading comprehension in the country. Posting any article that doesn't perfectly conform to the crudest narrative of left-right dichotomy results in having to walk supposedly educated people through the reading.

"I can't believe this author supports A!"
"I don't think this author supports A. Can you show me where he does?"
"Oh, I guess he doesn't. I can't believe he criticized B."
"Did he criticize B?"
"No, I guess not. It's sick that he includes C!"
"Doesn't he specifically *exclude* C?"

And on and on and on ad infinitum.

Something has conditioned people to think that all opinion runs down two well-defined channels. Cable news?

I am no longer young, nor idealistic. In the years since my youthful days I have married and committed myself to another, settled down, had children, established a career, and made a good life. I take and treat others as I find them, taking pride in dealing with people forthrightly and honestly, expecting and getting the same in return, most of the time.

These young people that say they want to change society, to eliminate the ills that they perceive, are spending all their energy on superficial pursuits like purging names from places of honor and tearing down statues. If they would listen I would tell them to change the world by making a place in it for themselves and those that they love. That is more powerful than what they are doing.

This analysis seems timely and appropriate, and has the bonus that it focuses on Dylan:

Here's an interesting story of modern America:

Atlantic summary

Man Fired for Cracking Knuckles

There are many relevant points to make:

1) The Atlantic states as fact "Likely unbeknownst to most Americans, the alt-right has appropriated a version of the “okay” symbol for their own purposes because it looks like the initials for “white power”".

In reality 4chan - a hacker board - demonstrably started this belief to prank the media. The media persists in this belief because (they believe) the advantage in attacking random people is too valuable to give up when doing so would publicize their own gullibility.

2) The Atlantic asserts (without evidence) the original publicizer did not intend to get the person fired. But of course this is nonsense, we all know these type of personal videos and stories are intended to get people fired. The Atlantic asserts this without dispute to protect the the original accuser who they (correctly) perceive as their ally.

3) The Atlantic's exoneration of the accused is entirely based on his non-white status demonstrating their belief the same (nonexistent) evidence would be sufficient to fire anyone white. Remember this supposedly an article against the left wing extreme staking out the moderate position. So we conclude there should be sanity but only for non-whites.

4) The Atlantic refuses to identify the original publicizer. Even though he made himself a public figure (within this context) the Atlantic protects him from consequence. This is what allies do even while posing as opposing this retributive movement.

Even the leftists who pretend to oppose this movement in fact support it.

I wonder if black people know tht sometimes white guys get pulled over for no good reason.
If I am driving a red car, and the cops pull me over because they had a report of white guy driving a red car who robbed a gas station, aren't I being profiled?
When I lived in Minneapolis, the cops used to pull over young white cruising north Mineapolis because they figured that they were there to buy drugs. Wasn't that racial profiling?
"They caught me a gun tucked under my car seat, but I was being PROFILED!"
Like no haoles ever get hit for illegal possesion of a firearm. Or selling drugs. Or being an asshole to the cops.

Can we just agree, that's a given? She will cheerfully and without a hint of compunction testify that he participated in a racist hate crime against her? And when it is proven beyond a doubt by physical evidence that he could not possibly have done any such thing, the government of Madison will arrange to give her a large sum of money, and forget it ever happened? Do we all understand that this is true?

I wonder why. Maybe there is a hoarding instinct with ammunition? I can't understand it, the Zombie apocalypse is not a real thing. A few years ago I bought a thousand rounds of .45 ACP because I was using about a hundred rounds a month at the range. Ammunition is significantly cheaper in bulk. But I have no illusions that keeping a thousand rounds makes me any safer than keeping 50 rounds.
Sometimes you read about people keeping dozens of firearms and tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition. Nothing wrong with that, but what is their reasoning? Do they think that they will be in an hours-long firefight with bad guys? That the chance that this will happen is worth spending thousands of dollars on ammunition that has a shelf life?

“Cabelas is completely out-of-stock relative to popular handgun calibers, but they are offering the weapons on-line for $100 off!!”

Except that they are having trouble getting them in. Maybe $100 off, but doesn’t do you a bit of good.

I have been tracking AR-15 pistol build kits, and over the last couple weeks they have dried up. In particular, I have wanted maybe a 7.5” barrel in .300 Blackout, and they are getting scarce. Even pistol length 5.56/.223 are getting scarce (.300 BO is supposed to be better for short barreled AR-15s, because regular 5.56/.223 ammunition is designed for a 18-20’ barrel, and doesn’t completely burn 8n muchorter ones). Couldn’t find ammo for the .300 BO online, but a friend said that he found a lot of it in Coeur d’Alene.

That said, I should be getting in a shipment from Lone Wolf early next week. They have everything you need to build a Glock from the ground up, and their parts aren’t looking that depleted. Picking up a new Aloha Wolf barrel for my 10 mm G20. Supposedly do better with solid cast loads than do stock barrels. Also getting a new light and new night sights for the gun (I really don’t like Glick factory sights).

. Things are getting crazy. This very much looks like a bigger run On guns and ammunition than when Crooked Hillary’s election was considered imminent in 2016. My one hope here is that Martha McSally starts hitting her Dem opponent for being married to Gabby Gifford.

Freeman: Look to yourself and your comment. What is it based on? Your everyday life and your real-world interactions with human beings or is it based on what you see in the media and blogs?

In my experience, what you describe is the behavior of a loud minority of right and left adherents driven by fear and hate induced motivated reasoning. They are like the Wizard of Oz with a loud megaphone hiding behind a curtain scaring little girls.

As far as the people in the streets peacefully protesting and violently rioting, that's different because these actions take place in the real world with real consequences. They too are driven by hate and fear induced motivated reasoning, but for whatever reason, they have escalated their anger into the real world. You have to wonder, why would people do that? Is it the desire for free stuff? Is it because they want a socialist dictatorship? Do they want no accountability from police for committing minor crimes?

The Trump supporting right and the progressive left (the two loudest factions) are being played by the globalist billionaires who have radically increased their wealth while 20+Million people lost their jobs. The wealth masters of the universe are playing both ends against the middle since the early 1970's when real wages stopped growing then started falling while prison population has increased by 500%. Reading comprehension hasn't changed. People are just awakening from a deep narcotic sleep into a reality that seems to be a nightmare.

This story is as old as humanity.

Step one test. The lighter was thrown in the car. fire while she was driving her car in Madison. Does she still have the lighter?
Step two test. Has she turned the lighter in to the police?
Step three test. Was the lighter the type that does not go out when released?
Step four test. Have the police found any finger prints or DNA on the lighter?
Step five test. Were there any surveillance cameras in the area.
Step six test. Has anyone seen, videoed four white dudes, two wearing the (apparently official) Boogaloo uniform? Check Broadway. They have been known to Boogaloo down Broadway.

Until these tests are applied, my default position is hoax. Sad to say,but I've been taught this. Worse, I don't discount the she was a failed arsonist that burned her self and needed a cover story to get treatment.

The Trump support has nothing to do with the globalist left except to question it. You could have said the Republican Party and been honest but that is not your intent. One reason for the frustration that elected Trump and will re-elect him is the failure of the Republicans in Congress to keep promises made every election cycle. The Tea Party was the first reaction but Obama and his regime managed to suppress it and the GOP ignored if but for a few rebels like Dave Brat. Mo Brooks was another and his fund raising to succeed Jeff Sessions in Alabama was blocked by McConnell and lost another Senate seat.

Agreed, a strange virus. Only contagious to people peacefully assembling to seek redress from their government. The virus refuses to infect thugs, rioters, tyrants. The US has hundreds of thousands of cases, North Korea hardly any, save a few men yearning to be free.

Strange indeed.

On the "frat boy" farce, I can say without real fear of contradiction that a thorough review of all available security cameras in downtown Madison will reveal that nobody wearing anything resembling a Hawaiian (does that get capitalized? Is wearing a Hawaiian shirt cultural appropriation?) shirt appeared in any security film for the night in question. No accomplices, Nigerian or otherwise, were required for this piece of idiocy.

There do seem to be spikes in infection corresponding to leftist protests. But not yet any spikes in deaths. We may also be seeing that with the opening of bars. I am not as worried about opening back up as my partner is. My view is that building up herd immunity as quickly as we can, fairly safely, is the best thing that we can do to protect our more vulnerable segments of the population (both of us are over 60, and I near 70 quickly).

This discussion came about yesterday as we talked to her oldest grandson, who had just graduated from HS, along with his GF. They had a drive through graduation, and made up for the lack of a real ceremony with a $100 Target (?) gift card. I know that both of us would have skipped our HS graduations for $100 gift cards. Thought that they were stupid. But neither of these kids is likely to ever graduate from college. Or probably ever attend. His next brother would do just fine in college, if he manages to get through HS. When he buckles down, he does great, but at 16, his testosterone levels are causing in a bit more rebellion that is good for him. One thing that he has going for him is that he is adamantly anti drugs and drinking.

In any case, our discussion about COVID-19 revolved around grandkids, and esp these two grandsons. She is closest to them, and doesn’t want to deprive herself of their company. My view is that we probably aren’t going to see them until we move back to AZ this fall, and best that could happen is if they get the virus this summer, maybe pass it to their mother and step father, but everyone is over it and immune by the time we return there in the fall. I keep reminding here - her grandkids are not going to die if they contract COVID-19. They may not even become symptomatic. But then they will be immune, and very likely cannot infect us.

But I have no illusions that keeping a thousand rounds makes me any safer than keeping 50 rounds.

A lot going on. One of the big factors right now is that a lot of people are waking up and realizing that they have spent their lives expecting to be protected by the police, and the left is working as hard as they can to destroy police departments around the country. They want the populace unprotected and vulnerable to their violence. The BLM/AntiFA leadership is Marxist, and this is part of the Marxist playbook. Deep down, we still have a lot of self reliance in this country, and the best answer to not having police available to protect themselves is to arm themselves. That demand is what suddenly turned a moderately tight market into scarcity. And, panic on the part of those susceptible to it.

Guns can be fun. Shooting is fun. Working on guns can be fun. I discovered that building them can be a lot of fun. Thirty years ago, I used to build PCs from parts. Buy the case, motherboard, processor, peripherals, etc, spend a couple hours throwing it together, then booting it up. And periodically tearing it apart to tweak it. Great fun. Now, for me it is building guns. So far, it is AR-15s. You buy a bunch of parts, take a couple hours putting them together, take it to the range, load it, press the bang switch, and boom. Maybe even better than building PCs in the day, because of the bang, and because you can feel it in the recoil. Maybe more like having rebuilt that engine for your SS 396, and fired it up for the first time. The nice thing about AR-15s is that many of their parts are mil spec. Not that they look like military weapons, so are Col and scary. But because mil spec interfaces means high modularity. Just like the original PC design was modular, and therefore made customization (and building from scratch) easy. You don’t really realize this until you try to build an AR-10, which has several somewhat incompatible standards. A good friend bought himself the pats for an AR-10 upper, and separately an 80% lower. They don’t fit. That was a year ago. His upper is assembled, but with the crush, hasn’t gotten a lower yet that will work with it.

Then, there is your zombie apocalypse buying. It isn’t zombies, of course, but gun grabbing Democrats that are the worry. Used to be a lot of gun friendly Democrats. Not anymore. To be viable nationally, Dems have to be gun grabbing fanatics. Mark Kelly, married to gun grabbing superstar Gabbie Gifford, is currently running ahead of incumbent Senator McSally in gun friendly AZ. Bloomberg and others are dumping tens, if not hundreds, of millions of dollars into this election in order to flip the Senate and keep the House for the Dems. And if they succeed, you can expect gun grabbing legislation on the President’s desk probably by inauguration. And if the person elected is a Dem, that is likely to be the first thing they sign into law. And the first guns that they will try to grab will be those AR-15s I was talking about. And that is because they would have to violate the 2nd Amdt to disarm the American public, which is their stated aim, and the semiautomatic version of our main battle rifle for the last 60 years is the weapon most likely to prevent that. And everyone, on both sides, knows that.

So, right now, we have a race going on, with the Democrats buying election officials (to facilitate cheating) and elected officials (last I knew, Kelly had by far the biggest war chest of anyone running for Senate, incumbent or challenger). And those on the other side buying guns and ammo as quickly as they can, in order to make disarming the American people logistically impossible.

If the Democrats actually take over, I will have a tragic canoe accident with my AR 15.

When the malpractice crisis hit in 1975, we had a well known malpractice lawyer (plaintiff side) come talk to our medical staff. He said "Sell all your assets and buy a big diamond with the money, Then visit Tijuana and, while there, accidentally drop the diamond in a sewer outlet." That, at least was the story. He pointed out that the money, including insurance, was what attracted lawsuits.

The same will be true with guns, I suspect if the Democrats ever do get that far.
