Listening to Tupac twenty years ago, I grew out of it quickly, taught me more about life in America from a black perspective than anything ever written and subsidized by university tax dollars.

Universities need to burn so long as we are burning things down. As Instapundit brings up, that shithole Yale is racist and needs to be demolished or, at the very minimum, renamed.

Also, the NFL is racist, and anyone who supports it in any way should burn like universities unless they withdraw all support, now and forever. It is a completely irredeemable organization built upon a foundation of abuse. Blacks could work half as hard to build something twice as good, and they will if they know what's good for 'em.

"Abstract This paper develops a model to understand mechanisms behind the rise of mass consumption societies. The development process depicted in the model follows the Flying Geese pattern, in which a series of industries takes off one after another. As productivity improves in these industries, each consumer good becomes affordable to an increasingly large number of households, which constantly expand the range of goods they consume. This in turn generates larger markets for consumer, goods which leads to further improvement in productivity. In order for such two-way causality to generate virtuous cycles of productivity gains and expanding markets, income distribution should be neither too equal nor too unequal. Some income inequality is needed for the economy to take off; too much equality means that the economy stagnates in a poverty trap. With too much inequality, the economy's development stops prematurely. The rise of a mass consumption society is thus an essential element for sustainable development."

An example would be, Wright Bros, Curtis, Douglas, Boeing, Grumman, North American.

If you don't understand this watch the Disney cartoon "By Word of Mouse" 1957. On You Tube.

I finished reading Barrett Tilman's bio of General Curtis Lemay and it was as good as i remembered. What a great man. Sure am glad he was on our side.

I also watched 12 o'clock High for the umpteenth time. Download from YouTube. It's about the 8th Air Force when they were just getting strategic bombing going in Europe. It never gets old. Great movie.

One of the interesting thing in the Lemay book is about the early days of SAC when they were still flying B-36s. They could bomb Russian targets but couldn't get home.

So in 1950 Lemay developed the 8th Air Rescue Squadron. The B36 crew would bail out over Siberia leaving the plane on autopilot to crash far away.

Then the 8th would fly in, in c-47 land on the tundra, grab the crew and fly home. They normally practiced flying under 100'to avoid radar. It sounds fascinating and I wanted to know more. This must be about the only thing military with almost nothing on the internet.

Great book about a great general.

What's everyone else reading?

On someone here's recommendation I started reading Elia Kazan's autobiography "A Life"

Fascinating book about a fascinating man. Not particularly likable, a real shit, but fascinating.

I'll have more to say when I finish it but I am liking it a lot so far. Just now I am at the part where the Directors Guild is trying to implement a blacklist of communist sympathizers. They failed.

The far-left extremist Antifa movement and its allies have carved a wave of violence, destruction, and even murder for decades in Europe and their history should serve as a warning to the United States of America.

Antifa — despite the claims of its defenders and proponents — does not stand just for simply anti-fascism but rather for the organisation Antifaschistische Aktion, originally the paramilitary arm of the Pro-USSR German Communist Party (KPD). Its actions today are not merely against fascism, but explicitly for a mix of anarchism and communism by any means necessary.

Never a fan, his grandkid was at the property from what I remember, but it is a great line, ht Robert Stacy McCain years ago for highlighting it, and I gave him some s&^^ for it I think, but, after no further introduction, here it is, by H. S. Thompson:

The 1970's are making a resurgence in America, despite the oil flowing after being located and quantified.

All of 'em in the media are a simulacrum Ron Burgandy, no joke. To enter the arena is a show of a certain weirdness.

Many times weird is good, I myself have been told that ("you're weird") face to face, and had to make the best of it, in fact.

Rejahm,

I don't think it was Lara Logan but I was reading about that yesterday or today.

The money didn't seem to be going to BLM. I s seems to be going into the general demmie election coffers.

"Seems" is the key word as it is rather murky where it is really going.

Act Blue is a really sketchy organization. When you go to most candidates websites they will only let you donate via Act Blue. When you do this, it does NOT go to the candidate. Act Blue tells you it goes "to the benefit of" the candidate.

All that means is thst it goes into the general fund to elect democrats.

Don't ever give to them. Find an address and send a check direct to the candidate.

The Republicans have something called WinRed which seems similar. Don't give them money either.

"I grew out of it quickly" is interesting but only to me self-indulgently I suppose, but then again that's just what I would do isn't it, if being self-indulgent?

I listen to it in my mind all the time, but extremely rarely within the last decade have I played it. I wonder when the last time I linked "Hit 'em Up" was? I doubt I listened to it, but maybe.

Kid Rock switched to Country and Pop, so I like him yet. Which is what I hope ande-acedshit sass must keep his amazing brain occupied with via laughter at my expense.

"First Kiss" has really stuck with me. My buddy had a blue pick-up with 44" super swampers but otherwise the same style as the vid. 454 I would guess, maybe 350.

The video about Northern Michagen with the boat (Chris Craft?) was great too. An homage to possibly the best band ever, Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Duh. Trump is now 84 moves ahead of Pelosi, Chucky, Biden, Obama, and Wray.

Lemay is interesting as hell. If I can recall the book--it may have been an older bio, it's been a long time--he and his SAC successors pretty much held the keys to the nukes for about a decade--forward-deployed and always ready, with civilians out of the loop . . .

Still reading Wulf on Humboldt--amazing amazing life and work. Hit it off immediately with Jefferson, who pumped him for info on Mexico and points south--for which he was unquestionably the world authority. Napoleon, who he met, thought he was a liberal fruitcake and wanted to banish him from the city he loved--Paris--but was persuaded that it would look bad (and be bad for French prestige) to exile the greatest scientist in the world.

It's the restored Bourbons (learned nothing, forgotten nothing) who finally helped make him make the decision to return to Berlin, which he detested.

Humboldt, Napoleon, Beethoven (throw in Wellington) all almost exact contemporaries; what an era.

Just about through The Persian Boy. What a master of pace and quick characterization Renault is, and she seems vastly erudite about Alexander's time.

On the ancient theme, I uncovered (half-read!) John Prevas's "Hannibal's Oath" while moving some books around; his argument for the route over the Alps is convincing enough to me, but it's a slow read. I'll get back to it. The Punic Wars was what first caught my interest in ancient history.

I hate to bet against Crack, unless it was the 2014 senate, but you really got Candace fever.

Less Candace is your only cure my friend.

From the pedia of Wiki:

The 2014 United States Senate elections were held on November 4, 2014, they were a part of the United States 2014 elections (and in some areas for a period of time ending November 4, 2014). Thirty-three Class 2 seats in the 100-member United States Senate were up for election, in addition to three Class 3 seats due to expire on January 3, 2017. The candidates winning the regular elections would serve six-year terms from January 3, 2015 to January 3, 2021. The elections marked 100 years of direct elections of U.S. Senators. Twenty-one of the open seats were held by the Democratic Party, while fifteen were held by the Republican Party.

The Republicans regained the majority of the Senate in the 114th Congress, which started in January 2015; the Republicans had not controlled the Senate since January 2007. They had needed a net gain of at least six seats to obtain a majority. They held all of their seats and gained nine Democratic-held seats. Republicans defeated five Democratic incumbents: Mark Begich of Alaska lost to Dan Sullivan, Mark Pryor of Arkansas lost to Tom Cotton, Mark Udall of Colorado lost to Cory Gardner, Mary Landrieu of Louisiana lost to Bill Cassidy and Kay Hagan of North Carolina lost to Thom Tillis.

The Republicans also picked up another 4 open seats in Iowa, Montana, South Dakota and West Virginia. Polls and other factors had led forecasters to predict that the Republicans would win several seats, with most predicting that the party was likely but not certain to win at least the six seats necessary to take control of the Senate.

I have read all her books except "The Charioteer" which is all about gay life, not history.
"The Mask of Apollo" is also very good. It is set at the time Alexander was a teen and he appears briefly.

I am reading the new biography of Napoleon by Andrew Roberts. I have the trade paperback version. I don't know why the hard cover is so expensive. Much more sympathetic to him than most books in English.

I assume you know it is a true story. The general was named Frank Armstrong. Look up his biography if you haven't. Fantastic guy. The writers were in his group. I have the novel that was the basis of the screenplay. In the first bombing mission on Germany, he flew as copilot since he was new in the group. The pilot was Paul Tibbets of "Enola Gay."

No, Inga said she was amused by the Trumpists who would actually sign such a waiver just to go see Trump blabbering in person. I was laughing at people who would gather indoors in huge numbers and go so far as to actually acknowledge they are putting their lives at risk, but are OK with it because it’s worth it to them to see Trump and participate in a political rally inside a building with lots of yelling and cheering, probably while not wearing masks. I was amused by the willingness to sacrifice oneself for a political figure so he can have an audience of slavering minions to show on TV.
