Angela Davis was a communist and probably still is.

The Communists murdered 100 Million people. See French scholars, Black Book of Communism by Courtois et al.

So, since Ms. Davis associated with Communist murderers, nobody cares what she says about other things.

They will eagerly vote for Joe because of his dementia.

Good grief, Angela Davis. Was it hope and optimism that led her to supply firearms to the thugs who took over the Marin County court in 1970 during which four people got killed. Or maybe her hope and optimism traveled with her as VP of the American Communist Party to East Berlin to play kissy face with Honecker and later on to the Soviet Union to pick up her Lenin Peace Price. Do people in Madison know and understand ANY history of the past century outside of Madison in 1969? Hope and Optimism. Pardon me while I wretch.

Yes, damn that American individualism! Leftists yearn to be faceless cogs in The Collective.

I never used to watch Trump rallies, but I watched tonight. Both Trump and the crowd were having fun. He delivered a message of optimism and strength. What do the Dems have but anger, hatred and viciousness?

Screw the polls. Americans like optimism. They like presidents who love America.

All Dems have to peddle is race baiting and fear. They side with the people who want to destroy our country. I feel much, much better about Trump's odds tonight.

No, there won't be a debate. Trump would demolish Slow Joe in 5 minutes.

Jon,

That’s old news.

Plus, did you read it. Strauss is in. IOW, that corruption plan failed because Berman wouldn’t take the bribe of a move so that Clayton could join the hack-law and hack-order team. You do realize that’s huge loss for DJT corruption, right?

Anywho, as if that result wasn’t enough hope and optimism for this thread, how about some more fun:

Some highlights:
"A devoted Stalinist, Davis was a staunch supporter of the USSR during the Cold War era. Of the many people who had suffered so terribly in the gulags administered by the Soviets under Stalin, Davis once said: “They deserve what they get. Let them remain in prison.”

In 1968, as Soviet tanks rolled into Czechoslovakia to crush the “Prague Spring,” Davis, who fully supported the Soviet invasion, joined the Communist Party, voicing her belief that “the only path of liberation for black people is that which leads toward complete and radical overthrow of the capitalist class.”

Davis developed a belief in violence as an acceptable means of dealing with one’s enemies. This was true, she maintained, not only for a world power like the Soviet Union, but also for individual human beings. Indeed, she once stated: “For the black female, the solution is not to become less aggressive, not to lay down the gun, but to learn how to set the sights correctly, aim accurately, squeeze rather than jerk and not be overcome by the damage. We have to learn how to rejoice when pigs’ blood is spilled.”

Also in the 1970s, Davis was a passionate admirer of the Rev. Jim Jones, a committed communist who had gained considerable fame as a faith healer and cult leader of the People’s Temple, a jungle-based commune in Jonestown, Guyana. In the mid-Seventies, Jones initiated friendships with Davis and some other left-wing activists in the San Francisco area. On September 10, 1977, Davis spoke via radio telephone “patch” to members of the Peoples Temple. “We are very deeply obligated to you for what you have done to further the fight for justice, to further the struggle against oppression, to further the fight against racism,” she said. Davis also warned them that a conspiracy was being planned against them “because of your progressive stand.”

On May 18, 1978, Jones led the some 914 inhabitants of Jonestown — including nearly 300 children — in committing mass suicide by drinking a grape-flavored beverage laced with cyanide. The FBI later recovered a 45-minute audio recording of the suicide in progress. On that tape, Jones could be heard telling Temple members that the Soviet Union, with whom the Temple had been negotiating a potential exodus for months, had decided not to accept them. Moreover, he told them that agents of intelligence organizations would soon “parachute in here on us,” “shoot some of our innocent babies” and “they’ll torture our children, they’ll torture some of our people here, they’ll torture our seniors.” To avoid the suffering that such a catastrophe would bring, Jones explained, it was vital for everyone to commit “revolutionary suicide” by drinking the poison. When some members cried out in distress and fear, Jones counseled: “Stop these hysterics. This is not the way for people who are Socialists or Communists to die. No way for us to die.” At the end of the tape, Jones concluded: “We didn’t commit suicide; we committed an act of revolutionary suicide protesting the conditions of an inhumane world.”

Davis ran for Vice President of the United States in 1980 and 1984, alongside Gus Hall, on the Communist Party ticket.

there's actually more.

Crappy third world graffiti on other people’s property. Will they ever get around to tearing that crap down?

RichardJohnson said...

And to show that she is down with the struggle in Madison, is Angela Davis going to supply guns, like she did for the Marin County Civic Center attacks?

BTW, Angela Davis had no problem with Commie regimes jailing political prisoners. GUARDIAN CHARACTERISATION OF ANGELA DAVIS AS A “CIVIL RIGHTS ACTIVIST” IS ABSURD.
Finally, even Davis’s record on the narrow issue of political prisoners is one of ideological extremism and profound moral hypocrisy. Davis was a communist who openly supported the Soviet Union during the Cold War, and even refused a Czechoslovakian dissident’s plea, in 1972, that she express support for true prisoners of conscience in their Soviet bloc country. (Angela Davis reportedly believed that those jailed in Eastern Europe were trying to undermine their governments and that those who went into political exile were attacking their own countries and, thus, undeserving of her support.)

On the other hand leftists have created new hoaxes such as the Park Police used tear gas (spoiler: they didnt) and Oakland officials found "nooses" in an Oakland park (Spoiler: they were workout bands put there by a black resident and used by the kids who wanted to play).

Or as Howard might say: these were workout bands of oppression concocted by white supremacists and placed in a park as a means of terrorizing the black children (who were last seen giggling and doing flips and spinning and swinging) by western colonial oppressors.

I suspect she did that because she hadnt yet figured out a way to blame hawaiian shirt wearing mythical boogaloos for the lefty global mass murders over the last 100 years.

Still, give her some time and I bet she comes up with something.

Certain beliefs result in horrible conditions people flee from.

For those people then to demand to describe to the previous colonizers the only way to go forward, in what is henceforth treated as a foreign land, ought be considered stupid racism.

Anti-Americanism is now racism, there can be no other way.

John Roberts agreed until he bought children from abroad for some reason. Maybe he just likes foreign-born kids better than black American children without a home?

This guy has got a lot of answering to do.

So far he has personally divided the nation and created infinite more questions going forward than answers.

Angela Davis provided the rifles to blow a judge's head off while holding terrorized jurors hostage. Two jurors were also wounded. She was a professor of philosophy at the time.

She also helped prop up Soviet oppression of satellite states in the Sixties by touring there to support Stalin -- yes Stalin's camps set up for dissident polotocoans and intellectuals. I know people who got out. They said she was a rock star for the most opressive leaders of the Soviet power structure.

Now she leads Critical Resistance, which demands the release of all blacks from prison, even rapists and murderers.

So, if you like that sort of thing...

The OED has it going back to the late 1800s. The first appearance is in something about Hinduism and after that it comes up in the discussion of socialism.

With the meaning "The collective body of people forming a community or state," you get:

1881 Standard 21 Mar. The State is the real collectivity—the State is everybody, it is the country.
1884 J. Rae Contemp. Socialism 140 An omnipotent and centralised political authority—call it the State, call it the collectivity, call it what you like—which should have the final disposal of everything.
