Things no one was picturing in 2016... but we are now!

I'm going back to my old posts in early October 2016 to see what I said about Trump's Access Hollywood remarks (because I want to see how well I'm maintaining my cruel neutrality now as I process the news about Joe Biden). I was struck by this post from October 9, 2016, "Jake Tapper attempts a euphemism — and it's not 'vulva'":
So what Trump said was "And when you're a star they let you do it. You can do anything... Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything."

And Jake Tapper obviously didn't want to say "pussy":

If you're going to use the anatomical term to avoid the slang, use the scientifically correct term. "Vagina" for "vulva" is as much slang as "pussy." "Pussy" is at least a quote. "Vagina" is ridiculous.

No one was picturing grabbing a woman by the vagina.
No one was picturing that back then, but we are now! That's the Tara Reade allegation. We're not talking about a grabbing of the outer genitalia, but the penetration of the vagina using the hand — grabbing by the vagina — the seemingly ridiculous phrase used by Tapper.

The old post ends:
If we were, those of us who are saying that Trump was referring to sexual assault would be saying rape, not merely sexual assault.
The accusation against Biden is an accusation of rape.

Of course Trump was talking about it. Biden is accused of doing it.

At this point people are just being purposely obtuse.

Everyone knew that "grab them by the pussy and they just let you do it" was a way to describe gold diggers and fame whores.

And given Biden's multiple accusers and clear past of abusive behavior everyone knows he is a creep and a rapist.

Just like Bill Clinton.

Democrats harbor rapists and try to twist the pussy quote to mean something it obviously didn't.

Ann voted for Hillary Clinton knowing she enabled her rapist husband. Everyone who voted for Hillary Clinton knew democrats support and defend known rapists.

The entire feminist movement is a sham. It has been demonstrated over and over that almost all of it's adherents are completely unprincipled and don't have a shred of integrity.

The entire leftist political movement is a criminal enterprise bent on gaining power over other people and raping staffers whenever it gets the chance.

If they let you do it -- no matter what it is -- it's not rape. It's puzzling to me why so many people don't understand that distinction. Trump was saying (many) women welcome sexual advances from rich and powerful men. You can agree or disagree with that, but stating the opinion does not make a person a rapist.

"The accusation against Biden is an accusation of rape."

Technically, true. In a practical sense, though, bad, but not as bad as rape-rape?

In connection with the Hollywood Roman Polanksi kerfuffle, Didn't Special Prosecutor Whoopi Goldberg cogently explain the the distinction between rape-rape and something else?

"I know it wasn't rape-rape. It was something else but I don't believe it was rape-rape. He went to jail and and when they let him out he was like, 'You know what, this guy's going to give me a hundred years in jail. I'm not staying.' So that's why he left."

How about 2nd or 3rd degree rape for involuntarily finger-banging your Senate Staffer, without consent?

I read through the comments. Some of them are extremely funny. You can't say that Trump has elevated public discourse in America, but he has certainly made it risible......Context is king. In a dating situation hasn't everyone had their hand brushed away. I would think that the assault thing would be trying to overpower the woman and proceeding after she tried to push your hand away....I've never been rich and famous. Maybe their courtship rituals are different and they just head for the erogenous zones without the bother of going on a date. Their time is valuable, and they don't want to get bogged down in details.

Surely Ann you realize that it would have been physically unpossible to finger-rape Ms Reade without her cooperation. It's simple basic anatomy.

A Michigan legislator says so and we must believe all politicians.

Right?

Yes! Let's NEVER forget, that Whoopi says that:
DRUGGING a 14 year old girl, into unconsciousness; and then forcefully having intercourse...
IS NOT "Rape-RAPE"

as far as Whoopi was concerned,
ALL date-rape was not "RAPE-RAPE"
ANY use of roofies, or ANY other 'date-rape' drug was not "RAPE-RAPE"
therefor, ANY use of Alcohol, or any other intoxicant was not "RAPE-RAPE"
ANY sex with under aged children was not "RAPE-RAPE"
ANY sex with ANY unconscious person was not "RAPE-RAPE"

Serious Question for Whoopi:
IF a Hollywood Producer, (named Harvey, maybe) tells a Young starlet that if she doesn't EAGERLY have sex with him; she will NEVER WORK IN HOLLYWOOD again...
IS THAT "RAPE-RAPE"?

Except, again, Trump was not speaking necessarily about himself. He was making a larger point. Namely, that some/most women are so enamored with fame / power, they will let you do just about anything.

Like groupies chasing rock stars, they leverage the power of their pussies to get what they want, which can be many things: hero worship; to possess; to be possessed; money; fame; etc...

Now, it's possible that Trump has himself grabbed a few pussies in his day, but I'd wager that if he has, it was always consensual.

Some men are, by virtue of their fame, power or pure sexual magnetism, able to get pussy whenever they want. For them there is no need to "take it without asking", because they can access it "on tap", either via mutual attraction or a calculating exchange.

Other men, no matter their circumstances, have the opposite affect. They spend their days yearning for pussy they can never have. They are men who are reduced to "stealing" access by crossing personal boundaries without permission.

This can be surreptitious, like sniffing someone's hair from behind or going in for a hug and "accidentally" grabbing some side-boob. Or it can be more violent and overt, like shoving someone up against a wall and sticking your fingers in their vagina.

Trump strikes me as the former. Biden strikes me as the latter.

So, Biden was 51 years old in 1993, when he allegedly tried to go full vaj on the first encounter with Tara Reade.

A helpful hint to 51 year old men -- never go full vaj the first time. Too old and clumsy. First, try lunch with her at Bullfeathers in SE DC. Unless, of course, you're a star. Then, they let you do what you want. You can.....

And, Senator Grandpa Simpson from the great state of Delaware -- you ain't no star.

What's the over-under on when Slow Joe shifts gear to Plan B defense -- Well, Yeah, I went full vaj, but she let me! And then she said stop, so I stopped, Man! C'mon, Man! Maybe, I did misinterpret her signals ........

Oh no no no.

It was MUCH worse than that.

Polanski drugged the 14 year old and then orally and anally sodomized her.

And was found guilty of that crime.

And then the dems/left/LLR-left of Hollywood stood and gave that guy a standing ovation, live, before a global audience....and they've done that multiple times.

Then Hollywood A-listers got up and praised Harvey Weinstein and one called him a "god"....and gave him a standing ovation too......

Long time Massachusetts democrat Gerry Studds was reprimanded for seducing an underage male page while in Europe....and yet the entire democrat House caucus gave Studds a standing ovation when he retired.

Exit question: Anybody discerning a pattern here?

So, no, there is no accusation of rape here. Accusations of rape are made with filings of criminal charges to the police.

I’m not buying into your tactic here, prof.

And, I loathe Biden. I just watched “The Rules of Engagement,” a documentary on the ATF/FBI atrocity at Waco, and Biden is in it, lying his ass off to cover for the Fed raid.

Still won’t buy into your tactic here. Rape is a criminal charge. There is none against Biden.

This is the worst of the Marxist feminist tactics, these allegations of crimes without formal charges.

The accusation against Biden is an accusation of rape.

Sigh. And this from a professor of law.

The accusation against Biden is sexual assault by digital penetration.

Rape, by its technical and correct common law definition is penile-vaginal penetration, however slight.

I do know that redefinition of terms -- whether by legislation or otherwise -- is all the rage these days, but words really do matter.

I would have to go back to look at the old D.C. Code of the time -- or the federal code if it would have been prosecuted there because it happened on Capitol grounds -- but if Biden had been charged with "rape" at the time, I'm betting he would be acquitted because there is no evidence of penile penetration.

It’s even possible that it happened and it wasn’t a crime. Maybe she brought the gym bag to him in hopes that he’d penetrate her. Can a 29-year-old woman consent, verbally or non-verbally, to such a thing?

Being married and sexually faithful to my wife my whole adult life (32 years to Mrs Perspective), sex can still be filled with misunderstanding and emotional landmines. I can only guess how complicated it is outside of marriage.

The women I know have a mean streak in them. Women are armed with nails, teeth, and hands to grab and tear out hair and genitals. Unless a woman is in fear of her life to fight back (having a gun to her head), why would they go along with a jackass like Biden molesting them? Women can also have a terrifying emotional rage when crossed. I don't know what to make of these women who show up years later like they were lambs to slaughter.

I'm guessing the best we can do is pity them, recognize them as weak and feel sorry for them. Perhaps Rachel Mitchell's questioning of Christine Blasey Ford is the best we can do for these pitiful victims.

Maybe one positive thing can come out of this series of too late reporting of sexual assaults -- people might see the value of reporting the assualt/rape at the time. Don't worry about the justice system and if the perp is ever punished or the punishment is inadequate. The crime has to go on the record.

Men get raped too, especially young boys. Probably there's even more stigma about a man being raped by a man which is why we don't hear about it; not because an injury to an anus is just like a scraped knee or elbow.

Exactly. Bloomberg has a huge China problem, though. Biden has one too, of course, but China is going to be a big part of the campaign unless the virus kills everybody.

People use vagina because it's analogous to penis. Vulva is more of a medical term for the general area. Indeed what's included and what isn't depends on what turns men on, which depends on the man.

261 and 262 define rape: "Rape is an act of sexual intercourse accomplished with a person not the spouse of the perpetrator, under any of the following circumstances:"

Section 263 is about not rape rape.

As far as the relevant statutory law in the D.C. Code, two years after the alleged incident, the D.C. Council repealed its rape statute, such that there is no longer the crime of "rape" in the District.

Instead, there is the crime of "sexual abuse" of varying degrees, generally involving engaging in or causing another person to engage in or submit to a "sexual act" in certain ways (D.C. Code § 22-3002 et seq.).

Pursuant to D.C. Code § 22-3001(8),
“'Sexual act' means:
"(A) The penetration, however slight, of the anus or vulva of another by a penis;
"(B) Contact between the mouth and the penis, the mouth and the vulva, or the mouth and the anus; or
"(C) The penetration, however slight, of the anus or vulva by a hand or finger or by any object, with an intent to abuse, humiliate, harass, degrade, or arouse or gratify the sexual desire of any person.
"(D) The emission of semen is not required for the purposes of subparagraphs (A)-(C) of this paragraph."

Section 22-3001(8)(A) combines the prior definitions of rape and sodomy.

Back in the 90s-- and earlier-- if an attractive, young career woman reported every time a male co-worker or superior made an unwanted physical advance, or said something crude, she would've been branded a trouble-maker and probably reassigned or fired. Just because a woman didn't report a sexually aggressive guy, didn't mean she enjoyed the "attention". Only a short-sighted, insensitive asshole would conclude that. Short of actual rape, we often just rebuffed or ignored and then shrugged it off and tried to keep doing our jobs, and avoided the creepiest guys as best we could.

As I've said before, one of the perks of getting old is that the aggressive guys leave you alone. It's not an ego boost to have some pervert grab your ass or tits or whatever. It's annoying and sometimes scary. Especially when you're 5 ft 2 and 100 lbs.

I think Biden probably groped the woman-- probably more than one woman, since he seems pretty handsy. That said, call me cynical, but I agree with those who think that waiting 30 years to report it seems to be more politically motivated than anything else. They say Tara is a Democrat, but I can see how some Democrats would want to get rid of sleepy, gropey, funny-uncle Joe as the Dem Presidential nominee.

No lingering fear that he or someone else will do it to you again? Would you report it to the police if you had no way to prove it even happened?

This sort of thing happens to women, children, and young men more often that we want to believe. If it's never happened to you, please, just shut the fuck up.

I don't get all the back and forth about the legal definition of rape. If Biden did what Reade says he did, Biden acted in a horrible and unforgivable way, and in a way that should disqualify him from high office.

The most serious accusation against Trump is that by E. Jean Carroll who says he actually raped her in a department store dressing room. If Trump did what Carroll says he did, Trump acted in a horrible and unforgiveable way, and in a way that should disqualify him from high office.

Why hasn't the press more fully investigated the E. Jean Carroll accusations? Where is the NYT WaPo series of stories? If the stories are there, and I haven't seen them, send me links. BUt I think the news judgment has been that E. Jean Carroll is a flake and there's not enough supporting corroborative evidence to pursue the accusation. For all intents and purposes, that judgment is the same as saying "it didn't happen."

Or maybe, the timing isn't right, and NYT WaPo are holding off for an October surprise. I realize how much I have lost respect for these newspapers, and I realize that it is a loss to me. I do read real clear politics which I think tries to put a more even handed presentation; but it is exhausting to always have to filter the news through the "what is their hidden agenda?" filter.

Interesting seeing all these men here speculating that if a woman doesn't call the police after an instance of assault, "it didn't happen." And that women must be weak-minded because...I am not sure of the reasoning here...because we fear being attacked by an adult far larger and stronger than we?

I think this sort of nonsense can only be spouted by people who have never been accosted by someone larger and/or more powerful than they--and who don't have any reason to fear that it could happen to them.

Sure, if a stranger walking down a corridor pushed me into a cranny and shoved his fingers inside me, I would call the police. Most particularly because I would figure he would do something worse to the next woman he attacked.

However...if a powerful man with significant leverage over me (he employs me; he can tank my future prospects; he can ruin my reputation because in a he said/she said, his status will trump mine) assaults me, I will probably swallow and take it. Especially if I am young and inexperienced and not to the point where I am willing to say, "Fuck this; I can do something better with my life.".

I have had men say inappropriate things to me in a work situation. I feel irritated, but I don't feel afraid. I have had a couple of men (one in a work situation and one not) overpower me physically. It is frightening. I don't think of myself as physically weak, but at in those moments, I was helpless. It is easy to say, "Use your nails; use your teeth," if you have never had a hand the size of your face grasping you by the neck. And if you have never had a body that weights 100 lbs more than you do holding you down.

I have no idea whether Joe Biden assaulted Tara Reade. But I don't find her behavior at all surprising.

And the issue here is NOT (only) whether Joe Biden is a sexual predator. It is whether (or also) whether the Democrats are going to be made to play by the rules they insist on when a Republican is involved.

You're sure you're right? Why would "Don't, Joe" work on a man who pushes a woman up against a wall and sticks his fingers inside ofher?

"Please don't" works when a man touches your arm or your cheek. It doesn't work on a man who thinks he is entitled to stick his hand under your skirt. Or do you think that "Bill, please stop" would have worked for Juanita Broderick?

Perhaps because such a remonstrance would work with you, you make the mistake of thinking it will work with every other man.

The 70s and 80s on the Hill were another country. Powerful men got away with a lot of shit that probably wouldn't fly now. Chris Dodd and Teddy Kennedy publicly sandwiching a waitress--and not a cry of outrage--is a perfect example.

Some men are beasts. Some aren't. Some women lie. Some don't. I find this reflexive insistence on the part of most of you men here that things like this don't happen to be laughably and pathetically naive.

@Anne-I-am nails it above. It's hard for some of the naive utopian theoreticians to join us in the real world, where real things happen, including bad things, which sometimes lead to mistakes of judgment.

In 2020, I bet the number of handsy Senators is less, and, when it does happen, women are more inclined to report it.

Here, the solution is simple. Respectful tv interview of Tara Reade, let's hear what she has to say. Her podcast interview was a good start, but only half of what you need. Ya gotta look 'em in the eye and watch their body language to see if their story coheres with the truth.

So tell me more about how the country's economy had to be destroyed.

You should never say the word "pussy" without an adjective. Absent the adjective, you are being vulgar, and nobody should ever be vulgar, we are all children of God,

SImilarly, you should never call a man a "loser" unless you are willing to say it to his face.

"Losers disgust me, and Botox Joe does not disgust me, but he makes me feel sorry for him" ---- that is ok.

"Joe BIden is the sort of loser who would do such a thing" ---- not ok.

By the way, I am not a big fan of Trump as a human being either. He sucked up to Howard Stern back in the day, and in my book that makes him a loser.

Wait - let me rephrase that .....

I was 14 when a man assaulted me in the subway while I was coming home from school. He cornered me on a bench and stuck his hand in my crotch. Luckily I was wearing jeans so he couldn't get very far. As he felt me up he told me he had a daughter about my age. I instinctively knew that if I tried to fight him I'd only make it worse for myself. So I appealed to his humanity. Luckily he had some. I kept my cool and calmly said something like, he shouldn't be treating me this way, especially if he has a daughter. That seemed to diminish his arousal and after a short while he backed off and left me alone.

That was the worst of dozens of sexual assaults that happened to me as a teenager riding the subway to school. Most were just some loser's hand on my ass or rubbing against me in the crowd. This was NYC back in the 70s. Women got sexually assaulted so often in the subway that it was almost a rite of passage. We didn't bother to go to the police. The police wouldn't have cared.

All the women I grew up with in NYC had been groped more than once on the subway. None of us felt flattered by the attention. But this was NYC and we had no other choice than to ride the subway. Only the very wealthy drove in the city. I left NYC in 1995 for good, because I never want to live that way again.

I would not call Biden a loser to his face, because I feel too sorry for old people who are making fools of themselves.

I give Trump a pass for sucking up to Harold Stern back in the day because he (Trump) is one of the few people in his milieu who got wiser as they got older. Creepy Harold hates Trump now, and that is something that looks good for Trump.

"Bill Clinton's sexual deviancy never stopped Hillary from shoving herself down our throats."

And I'm sure she didn't care and so therefore wouldn't even try to stop Bill Clinton from shoving himself down lewinsky's throat.

Night Owl - sorry to hear that.

I wonder if things are better now, with all the video devices.

Well well well.

The AP now admits that they interviewed Tara Reade in 2019 but then refused to publish the interview.

Well well well.

It just keeps getting better and better.

It was a beautiful cloudless day in the 90's today, just perfect for a motorcycle ride, so in shorts I took a ride down the Vegas Strip at about 5pm. Saturday evening at 5pm would normally be an open street party all over this town on a day like today. Now it's a ghost town. The contrast is really sad. The signs are all flashing advertising multiple ways to be having fun and exchanging money and contagions with abandon, and I was taken back to us doing just that so many times in the past. For instance just the year before last we took a big group of friends and family to a show, then Ubered all over town from place to place, having a great time and rubbing shoulders with thousands of people. By this date that year we had already had flu deaths alone that were double what we have had from Covid so far. Nobody knew about it, nobody cared about it, and nothing outside those close to those people was affected at all by it. How is that possible? How can it ever be possible again? It should be possible. It should be normal, because it is, and always has been. We have royally screwed the pooch on this. Mass stupidity facilitated by government, the media, and the gullible. It's really a shame.

Who's Harold Stern? Did you mean Howard Stern?

Justin hart looked at the numbers the track for flu and pneumonia have been at these levels for three years running.

I just saw a recent photo of Biden. He looks terrible. Did he have face work done too?

Bagoh2o: Nobody felt sorry for Bill Clinton. He was the party animal everyone wanted to have a beer with. Plus the economy was going great remember that was the salad days Before 9/11 that they called the end of history. He was riding a wave of popularity you didn't make the wave he just knew how to shred to his advantage.

Getting a Lewinski doesn't mean that you have to get it from Monica.

The art of seducing a woman doesn't require handsome face. It certainly helps but some of the best lady's mens are very homely men. It's all about the pitch.

Other than that everything you said was spot on

It's very common for people to mix up Howard and Harold. Trust me I'm an expert. Just for shits and grins I've let people call me Harold until someone else corrects them.

I call him Harold for a specific reason.

At least one member of the wack pack googles in search of my comments, and (s)he misses the posts when I call him Harold.

I Know it is Howard, honey.

This is why I think all woman should know how to handle a gun and have one available. My daughters all know about guns. They all have one available. Also why I would never live in New York City.

Even my Bernie Bro daughter has a gun and a supply of Hydroxychloroquine.

It's like the lawyer for the defense in a case I was a witness in. He said. "I'm a bleeding heart liberal but this is business."
