Which reminds me "One in three women in Europe inherited the receptor for progesterone from Neanderthals -- a gene variant associated with increased fertility, fewer bleedings during early pregnancy and fewer miscarriages, according to new research."
I've wondered about the makeup artists, with all of the tv people going online for their shows supposedly without professional makeup. This cover doesn't seem especially wonderful, but not especially awful either. I'm kind of tired of the whole "look how amazing we can be in a pandemic" genre anyway.
That model seems to be doing that thing of pushing her tongue into her teeth and sucking in her cheeks. That’s a much mocked strategy for getting a good facial expression. I’ve seen dozens of TikTok videos on this subject.
I guess the photo is an example of “the pressure to doll yourself up a lot,” of which poor Meredith Talusan wrote in the earlier post. When this model dolls herself up, though, it seems she (at least at her age) is creating an “intensified” image of herself. I fear that in Talusan’s case, beyond the ideal created by a photo such as this, there is the further, awful pressure to suppress the gene-deep doubt (or confusion) regarding one’s identity. IMHO, gender dysphoria is a terrible mental illness that’s been turned into a tragedy by doctors, psychologists, governments, political groups, parents, and the sufferers themselves. Decades ago, having despaired (prematurely in my view) of psychiatrically reconciling subjective gender with physical sex, the medical/psychiatric community instead took the path of conforming physical characteristics with an unstable mental illness. Although the result has been an oppressive burden for many, if not most, sufferers, and an utter nightmare for others, socio/political orthodoxy is forcing many whose sexual identities and preferences are still in development into decisions they are ill-equipped to make, much less live with.
That makeup combination looks like it belongs on one of those runway fashion models wearing the bizarre outfits that no woman would ever actually wear. Does pink and yellow around the eyes make her look pretty or just weird?

Looks hideous.
What a perfectly beautiful face! Don't care about the crazy make-up.
(no one left their homes!)
Their advanced technology will come in handy next Halloween.

A. Oh my God that is a lot of words and B. Time to stop celebrating and bragging about not leaving your homes. THIS IS NOT HEALTHY.
I couldn't read it. Someone tell me how it comes out.
But I do appreciate the diversity of your articles, Ann. As always, it's what keeps me coming back.
Beauty Special
An instance of the term beauty with an ironic meaning.
Nothing will hide that girl's elfin countenance.

You mean people use photoshop on models for the cover of magazines. Wow, this is news!

Nope. You missed it. Try again.

Google Yumi Lambert images. She's much prettier sans makeup.
What's the point of putting that stuff on your face if it makes you look worse?
