"Hours before results in Wisconsin’s controversial primary were expected to be reported, a conservative-leaning group is going up with a six-figure national ad buy..."

"... taking aim at what it describes as 'brazen attempts to manipulate the election system for partisan advantage' by some Democratic politicians and liberal activists who it says are 'exploiting the coronavirus pandemic,'" Fox News reports.

Here's the ad:

MORE TO COME: The results of last week's election are set to come out at 4 p.m. Central Time.

THAT IS: The results are going to begin to appear. It's after 4 now and nothing's up yet. You can look for it here.

UPDATE: The liberal candidate for the Wisconsin Supreme Court has been declared the winner. This should take the edge off criticism of the way the election was conducted.

Ooh. A little spice. Wisconsin is obviously important to the president's re-election, and if we've learned one thing about Trump? It's that nothing makes him happier than absolutely beating the shit out of someone else- rhetorically, I mean. Obvious election-fixing, particularly if it takes more than 48 hours to make the count, is something the DOJ can get involved with no matter who's in the government. Evers would be better off conceding that Wisconsin Court election to the Republicans, and then making the push. As it is, a lot of Wisconsinites are going to hate the stupid jackass for his needlessly tyrannic moves, and Trump will exploit that mercilessly.

I don't understand. It's been a week. Why aren't the totals fully tabulated?

Buckwheathikes said...

Calling it for Daniel Kelly, the incumbent Supreme Court Justice appointed by Republican Scott Walker. He's pulling away handily from his liberal challenger.

Democrats can't even steal elections competently any more. And they've had a week to "harvest" votes.

Marsy's Law (conservative crime bill opposed by the ACLU) passed with 75% of the vote.

Total Republican victory.

Hell, even Joe Biden only got 65% in a race where his opponent quit the race.

So far, only Buckwheathikes is explaining this to those of us not steeped in Badger politics. And I'm not entirely sure if he is posting a hope-filled prediction, or an actual fact based result. The big race here was the state of Wisconsin Supreme Court election. And Buckwheat.. says (and I think that is right) that the "Republican" (Kelly) will win. Since I am not an expert in Badger politics, I invite others to correct this. But I note a lot of the earlier comments just assume that we all understand the basic rules of the game, and I just remind you that not all of us know as much as you think we know. This is related to an earlier post which suggested that the last minute attempts to change the date of the election or the rules of absentee voting resulted from the "insider" (governor's office) understanding that pro-Kelly (pro-Republican) absentee ballots were very large compared to history and compared to absentee ballots for the (Dem leaning) opponent.

Buckwheathikes said...

Meh, someone just "found" 60,000 votes for the Democrat in the Supreme Court case.

Guess that week spent "harvesting" ballots was useful after all.

Big Mike said...

Strange. Ten minutes later, 46% of the precincts reporting, and the lefty has a 50,000 vote lead. “Strange” does not necessarily mean fraudulent, but then again we’re talking Democrats here.

Yancey Ward said...

The sudden jump was Milwaukee County reporting the entire vote. According to the graphic, it is 100% counted- as in 477 of 475 precincts.

I am not joking- it says 477 out of 475.

Buckwheathikes said...

Yep, Big Mike ... those 50,000-60,000 votes showed up all at once. Democrat has an insurmountable lead now.

Hmmm.

Halfway through the tally, and the lefty is up 53-47, by 50,000 votes. The Journal-Sentinel has a nice live-count graphic that shows which precincts are yet to be heard from, and you can argue that the remaining map favors the conservative incumbent... but I'm not sure they're from populous-enough rural counties to make up those 50,000 votes. Especially when very populous, public-employee-dominated and super-liberal Dane County still has votes to report. Keeping them in reserve, it's safe to assume.

I yield to no one in my contempt for commie Dane County judges, but... Not the end of the world if the lefty woman wins. It's still a conservative WSC majority, by a slender majority. And it might (might) defuse all the wailing and gnashing of teeth over the Wisconsin catastrophe, the disenfranchisement, the murderous cruelty and the absolute need to change all the rules and make the November election exclusively mail-in, i.e. a fraudfest. Whaddya complaining about? You won, silly libs.

Poor Althouse bloggers got it wrong, wonder why?

GBnative said...

It will be interesting to see if day-of voting had anything to do with Karofsky victory.

Maybe the Evers strategy -- evidence of which Prof. Althouse was looking for a couple days ago -- was to engineer a situation in which Milwaukee voters suddenly developed turn-out fever because the GOP (in the immortal words of Joe Biden) was looking to "put y'all in chains," again.

Couldn't have been Biden-Bernie. Or a Supreme Court race that would make the con-lib balance go from 5-2 to 4-3. Or a mayor's race in which Barrett was once again a shoe-in. Maybe, though, Milwaukee voters stood in line for a couple of hours to give the middle figure to the Republicans. As good a theory as I can come up with.

If look at the results, 700,000 people turned out for the D primary, and 500,000 voted in the R primary. The vote for the liberal justice was 630,000, and the Conservative got 570,0000.

R's were beaten by turn out. Doesn't bode well for the R's in November. Same thing happened in the race to fill Sessions seat in 2017. The D's got almost 90% of their 2016 voters to turn out, and the R's only turned out 50%. Result? Senator Doug Jones.

rcocean said...

Are the D's more motivated? Or do they have a well oiled machine to get people to send in ballots. It *is* funny how motivated poor blacks are to vote these days, after years of being indifferent.

It is somewhat difficult to make any sort of analysis of an election taken under these circumstances. Absentee ballots were allowed to be counted up to April 13th due to a court ruling. Republicans thought they could steal a WI Supreme Court election because they thought Democrats in Milwaukee wouldn’t turn out to vote because of the pandemic, boy were they wrong. As I said months ago, suburban voters are rejecting Republicans in ever increasing numbers.

“The victory, by upward of 120,000 votes as of Monday night, came as a shock to Republicans and Democrats alike in Wisconsin, where contests for president, governor and the state’s high court in the last four years have all been decided by about 30,000 votes or less. It followed weeks of Democratic anger over Republicans’ insistence on holding elections amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Wisconsin’s map on Monday night looked like a dream general election result for former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., the presumptive Democratic nominee — stronger than typical for Democrats in the suburbs and a respectable showing among the state’s blue-collar white voters in rural counties. But officials from both parties cautioned against overinterpreting the Supreme Court results, given the bizarre circumstances surrounding the high court race.”

Fixed it for you. Though I am pretty sure you don't believe voter fraud occurs in any significant way despite there having been ample proof that it does. Examples like precincts reporting more votes received than there are voters. Vote harvesting. Multiple absentee ballads going to the same "one bedroom" address. People voting in multiple states. The list goes on. Along with Democrats and their legal friends doing all that they can to further disenfranchise US citizens by trying to remove any and all barriers to non-citizens voting and Democrats voting multiple times. But SURE, this is the will of the PEOPLE! As noted earlier up thread. The counting an't done until the Democrat has won. Funny how boxes of Republic voting ballads never get found "at the last minute" to put the Republican candidate over the top. This "luck" only always seems to break one way. So sure, bask in the great turning of the populous to the liberal side. Think the last 3 or 4 weeks have been fun? All the Democrats want to make this lock-down, control, scarcity "the new normal". Just be sure YOU remember, you went this way with your eye wide open and with full understanding of where this path ends.

Vance said...

Inga fully supports vote fraud from Democrats, as does Chuck and Mark.

There is never a problem when you have a precinct with 120% turnout and 99% votes for the Democrats... that's just fine and dandy if you ask our leftists.

Of course, they also argue that they should be allowed to "offset" "extra" votes against Republican votes elsewhere. Since, after all, it only takes 50% plus one vote to win an election, any "extra" Democrat votes should be applied in other races to bring them up to 50%. In this way, you get a friendly precinct, run up tens of thousands of fraudulent votes, destroy the ballots really really quickly so no one can check them, and then viola, you've run the table in a state election.

Seriously, that is an issue Democrats have tried to push, I think it was in fact in Wisconsin, not too long ago.

Republicans do not get to do that, though. In fact, look at Inga upthread: any vote for a Republican is "stealing an election" from, as someone else put it, "the good folk of Wisconsin." Inga and the rest believe that any vote for anyone other than their candidate is wrong and should be punishable by law.
