The radical left is upset that President Trump and Dr. Ben Carson requested a #NationalDayOfPrayer.

This cannot stand.
By the way, I'm seeing a very diverse team. What say you, Dems?
Garner up those viruses and store them in a pyramid.
We are?
Insert David French Criticism.
The Left hates Christians and Jews and liberal Christians and Jews are useful idiots.
I haven't yet today, but yes, I will pray for the country, which I sometimes do anyway in addition to my personal prayers.
I wonder what the Democrats would think about FDR proclaiming national prayer. (I think he did but can't remember.) At the very least FDR wasn't hostile to faith. Of course Lincoln called for prayer and fasting.
General Patton's weather prayer - now that was a prayer. Effective too.
Seriously, is anybody actually criticizing this?
Something tells me this guy just made it up.
DJT and Dr.Carson are in a long line of American leaders asking for community fasting and intercessory prayers. It started with William Bradford went on through Abraham Lincoln and included FDR on D-Day. And guess what? Their prayers were answered.
Franklin Roosevelt's D-Day Prayer
NB: all of the aforesaid leaders were from the Calvinist Reformation heritage where faith was not considered a waste of time.
I got holes in both my shoes
But that don’t bother me none cuz
I got the hunker down blues
I saw an interesting statistic: The public approves of the Federal handling of the virus at 68%, but only 48% of the public approves of Trump's handling of the virus. There is absolutely no distance between the federal handling and Trump's handling of the virus. They are synonymous. The only difference is how the press reports on Trump and the feds aligned behind him.....They are, of course, eager to find someone on the Trump team who is vulnerable to attack. I guess that person is Ben Carson. He prays on the elderly.
This crisis has the potential to expose the real beliefs of the progressives.
Fen's law: "The Left doesn’t really believe in the things they lecture the rest of us about."
Vampires really do hate crosses.
Interesting coincidence that this whole shutdown happens during Lent. Social isolation and prayer or meditation is probably more in keeping with the spirit of 40 days in the desert than shambolic giving up of movies or alcohol or chocolate.
Some of FDR's prayer has yet to be answered. But it will be.
I'm a democrat, and a Catholic, and i'm not upset.
I just think it's funny that a man who can espouse religious principles, yet lead a godless life, can call for a day of prayer. it smacks to me of pandering. Not new for the Cheeto-in-charge.
Vicki from Pasadena
I also think this is wishful thinking on this guy's part. Not true at all. It fits his twisted narrative, but not reality.
Vicki from Pasadena
How is this newsworthy or controversial? It's been the Christian mantra for over 2000 years, the whole wherever 2 or more are gathered stuff. Our local ELCA synod cancelled services for 2 weeks, how else can you practice your faith? I am stripping wallpaper (and bringing G-d up fairy frequently) and watching MST3K. Jell-O molds in storage for the nonce.

How is "he" less godly than yourself? Be specific ior shut up. To me, you epitomize irrational Trump hatred. But, I'd like to put a finger on the particular elderly white female variant of the virus.
Roman 3:10 and james and a whole host of other passages come to mind.
I believe in prayer. I pray every night giving thanks for the blessings God has bestowed on me and my family. I thank him for opening my heart to let him in 30 years ago.
I have mixed feelings about praying for things. Jesus tells us in Matthew that God knows what we need and we should trust him to provide it.
Lots of people, including my wife, take a different view. They might be right. Or not. Who am I to know? I'm just doing the best I can.
I'll simply give thanks for keeping safe thus far and for giving us a government which seems to be helping that happen.
Others should pray in their own way, or not, according to belief.
John Henry
The main portion of our sermon was psalm 90 which was remarkably on point.

victoria supports unrestricted abortion for any reason.
Discuss.
Remember, Hillary called all Trump supporters not just "deplorables", but in a biblical sense, she also declared them "irredeemable", which of course to a girl raised Methodist like Hillary was, means Hillary has passed judgement upon all Trump supporters as beyond Jesus' salvation.
Because that's the sort of thing a "good Christian" does, declare people beyond Christian salvation.
Right victoria?

So you support infanticide and selling aborted baby parts for profit and you say Carson leads a godless life.
O..K...
I got the last two packs of scrapple at my supermarket this morning. The other customers were eyeing up my purchase and asking me why I needed two! I thank God I got out of there safely with my scrapple purchase intact.
Our church did an online service. It was a good and encouraging message, and it went well (no tech issues, etc.). I've been at this church for 15 years, and it's the first time they ever did this.
The worship team played as well, and the song they sang at the end felt remarkably on point. It was a song of hope and trust. If things do get bad here, as in Italy, this is a good message to remember.

A lot of people defer to mortal gods and human philosophies with secular incentives. A Twilight faith. A Pro-Choice religion. In Stork They Trust.
Victoria (like Pelosi) insists that the not yet human thing be kept comfortable until mother/patient decides...That's what gives them the right to judge others as godless.
I'm Catholic and so was raised not to judge the religious rectitude of other persons. When people who disdain religion presume to do so, I think, "How would you know?"
Jesus had a name for these people. He called them Pharisees.

a very diverse team.
An incomplete color judgment. It's missing brown, a dearth of yellow, and where's the orange? Albinos? Rich, poor, and other? Old and young? Tall and short. Slim and fat. Obese? Not exactly representative of the population. Two females. Two males. A balance of the sexes, equal and complementary. That's fine, given their positions and qualifications.
“ It smacks to me of pandering.“
Pandering from a politician. I’m shocked, shocked !

Scrapple A/K/A lips and assholes.
Definitely an acquired taste.

Soup,
Congrats on the scrapple (extra hair??). I'm in central PA but go for pork belly from Karns. Just got 1/8 of a cow for the freezer and have been assigned 'work from home' for 2 weeks, so porterhouse and potatoes seem in the dinner mix. The Commonwealth of PA has also started closing the liquor stores in our eastern counties, so my prudent pre-purchase of Scotch and Gin seems almost clairvoyant. If you're in PA 'Irish Gunpowder Gin' is on sale for $8 off. And yes, I bought more.
John Henry:
I know that is what I've heard. Store was out of bacon and Taylor's Pork Roll. I don't eat the scrapple often - every couple years I'll cook some. Got to die of something right?
I don’t personally believe in prayer, but if brings other people solace why should anyone care?
Please pray for me, Wednesday because if I die from Coronavirus, I won't get into Valhalla.
I'm also still scraping wallpaper. Sucks to be me. My wife helps by turning up the TV volume so she is not overly disturbed.

Sometimes you post intelligent things.
Then you post something really stupid like this.
It must be the constant humiliation of having to defend globalist policies. All the open borders free trade China sellout is stuff looking pretty silly right now.
A foxhole conversion is still a conversion, so it's all good.
I went to the store and noticed large dairy case emptiness. But I was just getting seltzer, bacon bits, and Gazebo Room salad dressing.
The general problem with Godly principles is that they are not prog principles. The specific problem is that they suggest there might be an authoritative Source of principles that challenges the sources of prog principles.

It is just a competing religion lashing out at Christianity.
I note the tweeter you highlighted for this post is Big Dan Rodimer, who is running for Congress in Nevada and is a onetime WWE wrestler. How's that for bringing some well needed culture shock to the current group of beta boys in the House.
Yesterday at the Dollar Store the woman behind me in the checkout line, with four gallons of bleach in her cart, was trying to keep six feet distant from everybody. This involved some fancy footwork because nobody was cooperating.
BTW that was the last of the bleach.
"...I just think it's funny that a man who can espouse religious principles, yet lead a godless life, can call for a day of prayer. it smacks to me of pandering. Not new for the Cheeto-in-charge...."
God has always used imperfect vessels to accomplish His will. Trump may be the textbook example.
Our central nervous system, our autonomic nervous system, our very cell units, love to rest in the pose of standing heroic, chin up, looking to the hills, and uniting with Most High Creation and the Conscious beneath it all. Those mighty moments we have known of the infinite realities and us in it. Those moments bring out the essential prayerful one within us. brain science knows this. test it. use it.
We witness an age that is somewhat lobotomized spiritually, that part of our brain is marked "Danger! Fool! Do Not Enter!" by the Nietzsche sensor helmet on our modern culture.
But the chunk of flesh and nerves of ourselves deeply knows there is nothing like the sense there is More Good, ever streaming, and we all deserve to have it. High Good. the highest unique and splendid Good that is this rickety body and fevered mind to Do. the Boddhi light, the contract with Isaiah "seek god's frame of mind for perfect prospering peace", the Yogi's contemplations, all seek High Good and find it.
so then, what He said: Do. Do unto others what you would have done to you. Excellent rubric. we can look to ourselves and use that to empower more good in the world, He reminds me. May All be Well. May All Thrive.
In praise to the Source beyond all naming, MIghty infinite yet intimate here and now. streaming now. May All be Well.
A toast to this, with my favorite brand bottle of 21c high ph water, I dedicate my heart to this frame of Mind for all this, a Holy Day, Clink!
see if you agree

Indeed - as long as people keep their medieval mental masturbation to themselves it doesn't matter, but it's embarrassing when national "leaders" do it, or advocate it, in public.
Prayers are always good. God doesn’t listen to you more if you’re on the left or the right. For those who don’t believe in a higher power, just send good vibes.

Soup: I'm with you. They'll have to pry my scrapple out of my cold, dead hands.
Scrapple fans seem to settle into the categories of "neat", "maple syrup/honey" and "mustard". I like my scrapple with honey or maple syrup. How about you?
Separately: The silly buying panic in the stores-- I was in there Saturday at 7:30 AM as I mentioned yesterday, and I saw people acting like the winners on the oldtime game shows where the winner had five minutes to fill his cart with anything he wanted from the store. Guys grabbing 4 or 5 cans of tomatos, armfuls of random dry pasta, etc. I didn't notice if they were out of canned beets and okra but I wouldn't be surprised.
The hot dog department (yeah I eat those too, with ketchup) was empty except for a few of the turkey kind, but there was a lady restocking. She asked me if I wanted beef, I said yes-- and it was my brand, but the short kind. When I asked if she had the bun length ones she looked at me like I was pushing my luck...
They were also sold out of distilled water. People drink that? I just use it to mix developer.

More than 12 trimesters and still in progress, hoping, changing... The social contagion may be worse than the antigen. Hopefully, rational and reasonable will prevail to mitigate the progress of the former, and people will take rational and reasonable steps to mitigate the progress of the latter. This doesn't need to end with a planned population. That said, some people are at higher risk than others, which is not novel.

Well. If the history of the religion is any indicator it's never a good indea to annoy the almighty. Tragety ensues. And being a firm beliver in the Holden Caulfield religious persuasion I try not to annoy the almighty. In fact I make every attempt to treat my fellow humans as I might want to be treated providing they have a sense of humor about it. Because. You never know.

Unknown: "Inga has often annoyed me, but recently she has been the local voice of reason and sanity. Yes, I am serious."
Then explain her performance on this thread.
St. Paul wrote to Timothy, "Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners--of whom I am the worst." Under the circumstances, prayer seems like the way to go. If you think it's a waste of your time, then don't bother; just shut up about it.
“Then explain her performance on this thread.”
Explain yours. And oh yes please just shut up with your incessant repetitive political nonsense when much more important things are happening in the world and let people discuss matters that outweigh your political butthurts. What luck! Of all the things I prepared for, I forgot to buy a thermometer. Oh well if I get chills and start coughing, I’m gonna call Ghost Busters, or someone. I doubt that’ll happen though because I’m locked down pretty tight. I’ll have to go rummage through my old nurse stuff and see if I have a thermometer stuck in there somewhere.

There's Howard's problem: he thinks gods should pray to him, rather than him praying to god(s).
As for the day “Wednesday” it's named (like the other days of the week) after a planet (Mercury, we now call it) — which happens to be named after a god — rather than the god itself.

Just uttered during the democratics debate:
Joe Biden: "We should already be sitting down and planning where we’re going to put these temporary hospitals. And we can do that. We did this before with the coronavirus. I mean, excuse me, we’ve been through this before with, uh, dealing with the viruses that, the N1H1, as well as what happened in Africa."
Hmmmm, I believe we are talking about the H1N1.
Sleepy Joe doing his senility thing again.
I like old timey hymns sung by Dolly Parton and Allison Krauss. I don't have any religious feelings, but I find comfort in the way they sing them. I don't get as much comfort from the hymns as they do, but I get some. Piety by proxy.....I think faith has been a good part of Ben Carson's life. I can't think of anything cynical or manipulative about his call to prayer. His prayers have the sincerity of a hymn sung by Dolly Parton......I don't have much occasion to go to church. There is a church just off the Engineer's Gate in Central Park. It has a hushed, somber feel. It's an Episcopalian Church I believe. When someone important dies, I sometimes duck in there to say a prayer for them. I think there is a much greater chance of God hearing your prayers if you go to a place where rich Episcopalians pray. Tip to the wise.
William: "I like old timey hymns sung by Dolly Parton and Allison Krauss."
Allison Krauss is a gift and she sounds exactly the same whether its in person or on the radio or, per Joe Biden, on the record player.

I see Trump as a man who plays President on TV. He does a pretty good job, a better job than I expected. Calling for a National Day of Prayer is a presidential thing to do. What he did before he got the gig, or what he does off camera, does not matter to me any more than what any other TV personality does.
I guess the Dems would rather honor one of their fallen heroes, Andrew Gillum, failed Florida gubernatorial candidate, found naked in a hotel room in Miami, with a gay prostitute, out of his mind on meth. That is certainly better than praying to our Lord

Hey Inga,
Can you tell us in your own words what a numerator and a denominator is? How does that apply to mortality rates? An average 5th grader would know without cutting and pasting, but you have not only avoided the question, you have shown yourself to be utterly ignorant and poorly educated.
I have to give her credit. She helps us understand the mentality (or extreme lack thereof) of the feeling Left.

Why do you assume this? There are many religious faiths in the USA other than Christianity. This is one reason many are wary of government promotion of a day of prayer, as it tends to further the idea that "religion = Christianity" and all other faiths are aberrant, illegitimate, and objectionable.
