The 15 minutes of fame for FISA abuses got cut short due to COVID concerns, but the ugly reports just keep on coming:

"Horowitz’s office said in a report released Tuesday that of the 29 [FISA] applications — all of which involved U.S. citizens – that were pulled from “8 FBI field offices of varying sizes,” the FBI could not find Woods files for four of the applications, while the other 25 all had “apparent errors or inadequately supported facts.”

“While our review of these issues and follow-up with case agents is still ongoing—and we have not made materiality judgments for these or other errors or concerns we identified—at this time we have identified an average of about 20 issues per application reviewed, with a high of approximately 65 issues in one application and less than 5 issues in another application,” the report reveals."

Will there be meaningful change in the process? Trump is supposedly strongly considering a veto of the re-authorization, with the FISA process currently in a 77-day temporary extension.

AH reporters, outraged that President Trump had hoped that the number of deaths might be less than 2-3 million, now expressing alarm at Fauci and Birx saying that they are preparing for 100,000 to 200,000 deaths (while also hoping, with reason to do so, that they will be far less than that).

Trump at news conference just said “This is not the flu’. Trump has finally signed on to what the scientists have been saying all along. I get new stuff everyday from my insurance brokers, Human resources consultants, and accountants telling me how the government is going to give away a bunch of new money. I bet most people have no idea how much of this is happening right now and how fast. Just one example: a small business can now borrow up to $10 million to cover payroll, and as long as you don't reduce your workforce, you don't have to pay it back. Even if you do cut some jobs, you still get to keep the money equal to those you did not cut. For me, that's awesome, but for the next generation who will have to pay for this and much much more, well, frankly, you are screwed... forever.

The Whitmer administration has since removed the language threatening doctors from the letter and is now asking the federal government to send shipments of the drugs, Bridge magazine reports. The Food and Drug Administration issued an emergency authorization for the antimalarial drugs hydroxychloroquine sulfate and chloroquine phosphate on Saturday.

OK, so in the places of serious lockdown, presumably we will know in about two weeks who in the major risk groups has been self-isolating and who has not, correct?

If various "models" show spikes beyond two weeks, aren't they assuming that a portion of the population, particularly among the groups for whose benefit the rest of us sacrifice and that will require the most care, will not abide by the "quarantines"?

Of course, some people in institutions and on the front lines can't avoid it, etc. etc.

I see a rift developing in retail deemed essential A working body of employees and their managers are facing the public but are being directed by faceless senior employees who are largely self-isolating and are out-of-touch with radical changes in business models: peak hours, staffing needs, coping with illnesses, etc. So far, the overlords appear to be keyboard commandos, authoring endless memos on "what to do" in order to justify their stay-at-home positions. Many of these business are not equipped with even the most rudimentary in-store modern communication equipment. What the upper management could do and should do is teleconference with all workers at the store level, since they seem too cowardly to appear in person. I'll give it another couple weeks before some sort of revolt sets in.

Inga said, "Trump at news conference just said “This is not the flu’. Trump has finally signed on to what the scientists have been saying all along."

Actually, coronavirus is the flu. Some weeks ago I said that the flu is only what's caused by the influenza viruses. That was wrong. It's just not true.

What doctors actually mean when they say "flu" is something whose symptoms match that general syndrome that we call the flu. Often only a small percentage of those cases are caused by an influenza virus.

I saw a video the other day by a German doctor where his group looked at the patients in a region in Germany in all of those hospitals, who had severe acute respiratory situation, and this was years ago, and it was a long list of different viruses that caused it. In fact in most of the cases they couldn't even identify the virus responsible!

But from memory, influenza was responsible for only 9% of these patients with serious respiratory problems and the coronavirus group, in particular, was responsible for another 15%.

It's actually uncommon for the medical community to do a specific test to see what specific virus is causing the "flu" problem for a given person.

All of these viruses that can cause respiratory problems have traditionally just been lumped together and called the flu.

Now that doesn't necessarily mean that the Wuhan Coronavirus is the flu even though it is a coronavirus. There is a decent chance that this a bioweapon specifically made to do bad things to people. That would be a different situation of course.

Or it could be a natural agent that has jumped species, that is the standard story of course, and it is much more dangerous than the other coronaviruses (that we have previously called the flu).

Or it could be that this is literally the flu, and is almost exactly the same as what we have called the flu in prior years.

Lots of new gun owners cropping up all over. If any of y'all are planning on keeping some defensive 9mm around, look for Barnes TAC-XPD +P. It's a solid-copper hollow point, 115 grain (bullet mass), seated in a nickel-plated brass case. LuckyGunner.com has been running tests on defensive loads and this one has remarkably consistent performance and reliably penetrates gel blocks to 12-14", which is the low end of FBI standards. Perfect for any defensive use. Not sure if they make other calibers - if they did, I'd opt for them whenever possible. They're not cheap but neither is my life, so after 400 rounds of testing out of clean guns and dirty ones, subcompacts to full size, I can happily report not a single malfunction. All the SoSay readies are hot with this stuff, and I trust it over all others.

(If you own a Taurus G2C, do NOT load Hornady Critical Defense 9mm without extensive testing on your part. Out of 50 rounds fired, there were 4 failures to properly feed and one failure to extract. I think the polymer tip is fouling on the feedramp but I can't prove it or recreate on racking - only happens on second or third round through a mag, AKA about the worst possible time. Just passing this along, it could save a life.)

If she is still symptom free, probably not worth it. Maybe an antibody test in a week or two would be good.

My wife takes HC for rheumatoid arthritis and has an immunosuppressed comorbidity so she is still taking her 300/day. If she was exposed or had any symptoms, I would get her up to 400 bid but so far we are fine.

PS - got sidetracked mid comment, but I meant to mention that I've done my own gel block and water jug testing with the Barnes TAC-XPD 9mm, and it's ALWAYS expanded perfectly and stops very consistently, for the 4 rounds I've actually tested myself. LG's website tested 5 and came up with similar results.

Also, about the "+P" - technically this round is an "overpressure round", but in practical terms 95% of modern handguns are perfectly fine firing this as long as it's not all the time. Check your manual. Most allow +P but advise against plinking with it because it affects barrel life, but your barrel is good to 20K rounds anyway, so it's all good. Run 3 mags through to ensure it feeds and fires, then just load one up and stow it. Fire and replace every 2 years at minimum. Stay safe.
