The guy is definitely going senile.

And when are people going to question him about Tara Reade and her accusations against Biden, where he literally did what Trump was excoriated for merely talking about: "Grabbing them by the....".

Very, very convenient that Biden's female campaign manager scrubbed all her "Believe all women!" posts which she had made to attack Kavanaugh the day the Reade story surfaced... only, of course, for the media to execute its well known "cover it with a pillow" maneuver.

Funny how all of our "Trump's a horrible evil man! Look at his language! His Morals! Disgusting! We must vote for a moral, upstanding Democrat" posters are completely silent with the Tara Reade credible accusations (she did, unlike all the Democrat women accusing Republicans such as Ford, mention it to people at the time it happened--so it's contemporary. And she was a Biden staffer!).

Crazy I know but frighteningly possible. Even a slim chance is worrisome.

How many people here are happy with a 40% chance of him winning? Or 30%? How about 10%?
What risk of president Biden is acceptable?

Biden is only the Dems guy until Bernie drops out.

When Bernie is gone, they will do the merciful thing and ask Biden to endorse the DNC choice.

Biden will not be the Democrat POTUS nominee. Isn't that obvious by now?

Biden should immediately call in Bill Clinton and Jesse Jackson as "counselors" and then, after about 48 hours of "counseling", both Jesse and Bill could declare that Biden has reached a new Zen level on sexual assault and that all is good.

The way that Jesse provided absolution for Bill way back when.

DrSquid: "Don Cuomo says it's not going to be him who takes SloJoe's place, or as his running mate. Who can they appoint to the role? Besides HRC, who would even want it?"

Don Cuomo might simply be pretending to play William T Sherman and instead has every intention of happily accepting the democrat nomination during a democrat convention where Slow Joe's clear dementia can no longer be papered over.

At that point in time, Cuomo, who has made it a point to appear to be working with Trump, would then, reluctantly, because gosh darn it who can turn down such an offer(?), "rise" to accept the appointment as dem nominee by acclimation.

By the way, the Bernie bros are going absolutely bonkers over this possibility already!

What's puzzling to me is the apparent ad libbing of comments. If Biden himself is mentally competent, why doesn't he insist that the staff give him well prepared talking points to read? If Biden himself is not mentally competent, why does a high level staff person (or Biden's brain surgeon wife) coach him through reading from the 3x5 cards? I think it comes from a life time of having deferential surround him, so nobody ever criticizes, and some clever person at the meeting says, "I think the Vice President made a good point when he said..." and then complete the sentence with whatever idea the clever person wants to advance.

Achilles said...

I know mister Woods is trying to be funny.

I don't want to know Joe Biden's position.

He is a paid shill for China.

We should ship Biden and Obama and Clinton and Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer and Mitch McConell and Burr all the other paid China shills to China.

One way.

If the WHO has offices in the US ship anyone who works in them to China too.

Eliminate the CDC. It has one job and it persists and insists on doing everything but that one job. The only way to have a functioning entity that actually monitors and controls diseases is to completely start over again from zero.

This would be so much better if they hooked him up to the internet and let people ask him questions.

I have written it before- there is zero chance of Biden being the nominee- the Democrats aren't completely insane. However, the Coronavirus has greatly mucked up the DNC's plans by stopping the primaries before Biden clinched the nomination. Each day Biden does one of these, it becomes clear even to Democrat primary voters that Biden can't be the nominee. If the primaries are run at the end of May or in June that had been delayed- it is entirely possible that Sanders can catch him given Biden's utterly pathetic public addresses in planned media. In this particular appearance Biden had notes that he clearly couldn't even read.

Todd said...

I feel that Biden's remarks deserve a counter-point and I think I can safely say I speak for most of us, so in rebuttal I say:

This is not something, such that the thing should not be, you know, and support that with which it is to be supporting all those that work real. Look man, this gets to the heart of, and we can't just, so have at it!

It is sad to see his deterioration. Life can sure be cruel at times.

I don’t think he will be the nominee. But the DNC doesn’t need to settle on a replacement just yet. As long as they keep Sanders at bay they have time to maneuver. Still, I wonder how long they can let him go on like this without looking awful.

I've noticed he frequently becomes flummoxed while trying to present prepared remarks. I disagree. He's lost what I believe doctors call "executive function" (no pun intended).
He's lost the ability to express a moderately complex thought. Every day brings new examples.
He can't get from A to E without getting lost around C.

It's sad to see this happen to anyone. To require someone to demonstrate his decline in front of a national audience is ghastly.

Inga has assured us that she and everyone she knows will vote for the nominee, whoever they are.

I don't agree that the D's are going to replace Joe.

They had the opportunity to replace Hillary before the election when it was clear she was knee deep in the private server scandal. One word from Comey and she was out. They did not act.

I believe the only person that can remove Joe from the race is Joe. And like a lot of dementia patients, he's convinced he's "fine".

That is quite often true with dementia patients. When I administered neuropsych testing, patients with dementia were often quite pleasant UNTIL we got to the Word List part. At that point, it was a struggle to keep them from walking out in anger and thus invalidating the testing.

The flashes of anger that you see from Joe when he is questioned are part of his dementia profile.

Isn't Biden actually a perfect candidate to run against Trump?

The only possible argument for Biden right now is "We will surround him with experts to tell him what to do. No worries!" I.e. the "Deep State" will be running explicitly against Trump.

Trump versus "Trust us, we're the experts! Go watch TV, we have it all under control!" Biden's perfect for that kind of an election. Anyone can clearly see he will be at best a rubber stamp for the deep state. So that's the election: Deep state versus Trump.

What does America want? 1984 style government dictatorship, or Trump, with all his warts but nevertheless clearly a leader you can vote for?

I am not alone in thinking Trump would hire and appoint people to run things while he golfed and took it kind of easy. The un American resistance to acceptance of the election results forced Trump to actually be much involved. Am always pleasantly surprised at how magnificent he ended up being. I actually think there's a large issue shaping up for the election.

The government is announcing that Covid 19 will come back in the fall. Makes sense, it's a flu virus, and that always comes back for fall.

But we've locked down everywhere. How can you hold an election under current "shelter in place and panic!" rules? You can't say that only states that vote by mail will be allowed to vote for President and Congress.

So: do we cancel the election? Oh, the screaming of "Trump as a dictator!" if we do that. Do the Democrats push for "let's declare this emergency again" and well, if we are going to lock down America for Covid 19, "to save one life!" then aren't we a dictatorship where Democrats can arrest people for having a Bar Mitzvah, like the police in New Jersey just did?

Would Democrats trade having President Trump for having a de-facto dictatorship in many states and all metro areas?

And if they can successfully push "No elections as long as Covid-19 is there" then what's stopping them from killing Trump and Pence? They aren't going to be punished come election time.

Words like dog, or plate, or the Name of the town she spent 83 years living in.
Why Joes wife is allowing this elder abuse is beyond me. Nothing can be worth watching a love one step on the metaphorical rake repeatedly. The Dems have no options to capture the Presidency. None. We're not seeing a Joe Biden who has keen insights and thoughtful plans, but is struggling to express them. When you sort through the word jumble there is nothing there but some tired platitudes.

It is telling that the DNC is allowing him to embarrass himself. The DNC has kept others like Nancy Pelosi and Robert Byrd on track. They appear to have abandoned Joe in his basement video studio. They are allowing Joe to fail in a very visible way.

I suspect the issue facing the DNC is one of timing. They are looking for an event or crisis they can use to showcase an alternative to Joe Biden. When the time is right they'll have an intervention where they invoke the 25th Amendment on their Presidential candidate. The media will be orgasmic and will praise the DNC and their new candidate while presenting a moving documentary on the life and times of Joe Biden.
