Today's sunrise photo, looking west, was taken at 7:18. The actual sunrise time was 7:09, but no sun came into view, and I found the most interesting colors and shapes in the western sky. The ice fishermen were a bonus.

Between Kobe, who admitted to having had sex with a teenager about whom he later said, in court, through a lawyer, that he later realized that she was indicating that she did not want to have sex with him, and Kirk Douglas, who many people have good reason to think raped a very young Natalie Wood, which one has been dead long enough for us to bring up the fact that rape is always wrong, no matter who does it?

Why are we so pusillanimous when famous people die? It is not like they cared about us or people like us all that much. Wake up, sheeple, your ruling class does not care so much about you that you need to thoughtlessly praise them when they pass away. That could have been your daughter in the room with Kobe or Kirk.

There is more interest in Seth Rich and the fact that FBI emails have been hidden from FOIA inquiries about him.

Another interesting aspect to the Seth Rich story I recently came across was uncovered by the Twitter user, @LarryBeech. He noted that Malia Zimmerman's May 2017 Fox News article on Seth Rich contained a very specific detail, namely that a forensic report of his computer had been produced within 96 hours of his death. That's quite specific--so specific that it is hard to imagine that this detail was simply made up. This matters because 96 hours after the death of Seth Rich would bring us to the morning of July 14th. What else happened on July 14th? July 14th was the second time Guccifer 2.0 sent an encrypted file to Wikileaks, which the Weissman report disingenuously implied was the source of the July 22 Wikileaks DNC email dump.

I was never particularly invested in Kirk Douglas or Kobe Bryant. I think the allegations against them should be part of their history but not part of their funeral. Give the mourners and their family a brief moment in which to mourn their loss....I am invested in Rush Limbaugh. In like way, I think he should be allowed to have a brief moment of recognition before his own brief moment passes. Rush had a flawed life, but he deserves recognition for something other than his flaws. I think it might be appropriate and maybe even useful to mention his spirited defense of cigar smoking, but some of the other criticisms seem mean spirited and carping.

William - what is a brief moment?
I am serious.

I think four or five days is long enough to be a brief moment for a guy Kobe's age. For a guy who is 103, what difference does it make.

I might sound like an unkind person when I say this, but I am going to say it.
If you live to 103, God has punished you. There are no 103 year olds on the face of this earth who do not know that the last years of their super long life have not been a punishment. Unless you are a Biblical patriarch or someone like that.

I have assessed the evidence and I think that Kirk raped that young woman, I could be wrong. I am not going to show up at the funeral and say he was a rapist, but I am also not going to refrain from mentioning the fact among friends. And yeah, I get it that an internet blog is not "among friends".

I had a friend who was raped AND murdered. So you might think I would think that mere rapists deserves some slack.
Morality does not work that way. I pray for justice.

stephen cooper said...

wild chicken - ok, sorry about the triple negative. English is my native language, and I am good at it, and sometimes I get a little ahead of what I wanna way.

Here is what I am saying. God does not want us to live to a 100 or even to 90 and probably not even to 80.

Unless you are a very good person , those decades of advanced age are painful, depressing, and full of things that nobody wants to experience - bad digestion, pain in many joints, constant anorexia, and the regrets for wrongdoing that we have never been able to make up for, unless we are saints.

Very few good people live much past 80. If you care about other people enough to be a good person it is not likely that you are gonna live to a 100, because to take good enough care of your body so that it lives to 100, you have to basically ignore other people. Sure there are a few proud grandmas out there who think they have been wonderful and who we call "matriarchs" but trust me, I have lived almost as long as them, and most of them were not the angels we want to think they were when they were young.

OK, one more time about the negatives, double negatives, and triple negatives.

There are NO 100 year old people who do NOT know that their last 10 years or so were NOT a punishment.

That means that, if you are, YES, 100, you YES, know that God has YES, not punished you by making you live that long.

But the point is, there are NO 40 year olds who have been tempted to think God has punished them by letting them survive from 30 to 40.

To ask the question is to answer it.

Another way of putting it - no I do not think God punishes people by making them live a long time.
But every single old person wonders about that.
If they reach the correct answer, they realize that every day God gives us on this world is a beautiful day and an opportunity to experience and demonstrate love for our fellow humans and for God, and that is an unmitigated good.

But the sad thing is this - and trust me you do not want to know as much about the super-old as I do ---- an awful lot of them have failed to repent for bad things they have done, and as incredible as it might seem, you can live to 100 or 105 without asking God to forgive you.

I hope that makes it clear.
For the record, old people love to talk to me.
I am much more clear in real life than I am on the internets.
God loves us all ---- almost equally.
In the eyes of God, a broken down old homeless senior citizen who has been off and on abusing meth and cocaine and who never was there for anyone he or she cared about is just as lovable as the most lovable infant in the most loving home in the ENTIRE WORLD.

I know that and that is why old people love to spend time with me.

Hot Air] Out in Los Angeles, they’re not only dealing with a homelessness crisis but a significant lack of affordable housing for those who aren’t very wealthy. As usual, the local Democrats have been working hard to come up with a plan to combat that problem as well. One "issue" that’s come to the attention of the City Council is the Hillside Villa Apartments. For three decades, the complex has offered a number of units at rates well below market value, providing a great deal for those lucky enough to get one. This arrangement was part of deal worked out with the city when the building was first acquired by the present owner, Tom Botz.

But that deal expired last summer, meaning that the rent on those units should have gone up to the same rate being charged for the other apartments. This has made the tenants, along with some members of the City Council unhappy, so they’re working on a plan to remedy the situation. How? Simple. By seizing Mr. Botz’s property and running it themselves. (Reason)

At this moment there is a bill pending in Congress called the New Way Forward Act. It’s received almost no publicity, which is unfortunate as well as revealing. The legislation is sponsored by 44 House Democrats, including Reps. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York. At roughly 4,400 words, it’s almost exactly as long as the U.S. Constitution. Like the Constitution, this legislation is designed to create a whole new country. The bill would entirely remake our immigration system, with the explicit purpose of ensuring that criminals are able to move here, and settle here permanently, with impunity....

Seeing Red said...

Remember this when the vile Progs bring up rape:

And they want to take our guns away.

...Garcia brags that the bill will break the “prison to deportation pipeline.” How does the bill do that? Under current U.S. law, legal U.S. immigrants can be deported if they commit an “aggravated felony” or a “crime of moral turpitude” – that is, a vile, depraved act, like molesting a child. Under the New Way Forward Act, “crimes of moral turpitude” are eliminated entirely as a justification for deportation. And the category of “aggravated felony” gets circumscribed too.

What does that mean?

Consider this: Under current law, immigrants who commit serious crimes – such as robbery, fraud, or child sexual abuse – must be deported, regardless of the sentence they receive. Other crimes – less severe ones like racketeering – require deportation as long as the perpetrator receives at least a one-year sentence....

Trump, patriot as he is, would never contemplate it but, if he did, he base would evaporate overnight. I told him not to be so distraught over the next five years because it's unhealthy.

Stuff like grabbing a third term is pick up your assault rifle time and form militias. I know every once in a while there is some chest beating about the picking up the gun thing. Who doesn't daydream about arresting the Oregon executive and legislative majority?

But, there are real red lines, as I tell the Bernie Bros in my family, the ex-wife and kids. Among those red lines are "assault rifle" confiscation schemes [duh], efforts to bypass the electoral college or packing the supreme court. I hope when the Democrats, should they win again and hopefully not for generations, will remember this. I don't want a civil war but I'm ready to do my duty.

I'm voting for Bernie in the primary, though. Let's have it out, Trump v. Sanders.

***Most interesting: Immediately after acquittal yesterday Senators Grassley and Johnson formally requested all Treasury Dept info on Hunter Biden......AND...the Treasury Dept responded IMMEDIATELY with detailed Hunter Biden info....AND democrat Senator Ron Wyden put out a statement today showing his deep concern over this rapid Treasury response AND Wyden has Pre-Attacked this information by declaring it "documents of unknown origin"

Rudy Giuliani is now offering up a very specific timeline of specific US financial aid for Ukraine cash transfers thru specific countries (Latvia, Cyprus) and specific business entities leading to Board fee payments to Hunter Biden. Such clear specificity makes his story very very easy to disprove...IF its untrue.

Trump's Tour de Force this morning included comments that clearly indicate a degree of confidence in Barr and Durham's efforts and what has been learned thus far.

"...he should legally change his name to Pierre Delecto, and run for Senate in a different state."

As Joe Louis said, he can run, but he can't hide. Romney is through in the GOP, and no one else would have him. He couldn't get elected to anything again as a Republican, and no one else would have any use for him. One of the idiots here tried the "Romney didn't kill himself" routine earlier today. My response was, "Are you sure about that? I watched him do it."
Here are his mistakes:
1. In an existential struggle over the future of our nation, Mitt the moral midget decided it was time to let a little pure spite out for a run. If Lamar!, Murkowski, and Susan Collins can see what is at stake, why can't Mitt? We'll answer that one in a minute.
2. He committed the sin of envy. He violated the 10th commandment.
3. He let down his colleagues. Mitt's vote cost acquittal at least three Demmie votes: Manchin, Sinema, and Jones. He made it bipartisan for removal; it was going to be bipartisan for acquittal. He really let down Collins, Gardner, and McSally.
4. It was illogical. If you needed more witnesses last week, how did you have enough evidence to convict this week? He offered some after-the-fact, chop-logic rationalization (I wanted to be sure that POTUS had every chance to clear himself) that was as stupid as anything he has ever said.
5. He cited his religion in his own uniquely unconvincing and sanctimonious way. He just lost the LDS Church 100,000 converts. He is a one-man wrecking crew. He ought to get together with Comey and form a consulting firm: Undermine from Within, LLC--"We take it down".
6. He fell in with knaves: Adam Scheisskopf, Gerry Wadler, the Little Vindmans, the "Whistleblower" . These are low, vile tricksters. These are awful human beings. They are Mitt Romney's new pals. He stands with them. Yech!
7. This is the nub: he is a weak, silly, short-sighted, envious fool, who believes he has done a good job if he gets praise from his enemies.

This is one of life's most important lessons: remember who your enemies are.
