"A second worker at Mexico’s famed monarch butterfly sanctuary has been found murdered..."

"... sparking concerns that the defenders of one of Mexico’s most emblematic species are being slain with impunity.... The deaths again called attention to the disturbing trend in Mexico of environmental defenders being killed as they come into conflict with developers or local crime groups, who often have political and police protection."

From The Guardian.

Isn't the answer inevitably going to be drug-related?

So I've seen this story -- and indeed it is a savage, ugly, depressing, revolting story of Mexican corruption and inhumanity -- from two news sources. The Guardian and NPR.

This is how you do the "Mexico needs to clean up its act" story. Not with Trump's noxious bloviating about drugs and gangs and duct-taped women. Which often get laughed at, even when there is an element of near-truth to what Trump is claiming. The New York times did that one.

So yeah, all of these left-wing news sources. Doing a story that Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity and all of the other right wing nutjobs have no time for, while they hunt for the DNC server in Ukraine, or while they cover the next campus conservative bake sale.

They were both tour guides that were killed. I have some familiarity with the tour guide industry in Mexico. It is very lucrative and extremely cut-throat. The thing I can compare it to here is the sanitation industry.

As I've said before, we should consider that Trump might be wrong, and Mexico IS sending us their best.

Banned Commentator LLR-lefty Chuck: "Not with Trump's noxious bloviating about drugs and gangs and duct-taped women."

LLR-lefty Chuck has to go with drug gangs and human trafficking officially no big deal at the southern border in order to justify his and his dems Open Borders policy.

Once again, as always, our "LLR" goes all in defending his far left media heroes while attacking any conservative in sight....because that is how one "conserves conservatism" a la Bill Kristol explicitly pro-dem style.

LLR-lefty Chuck also now officially on record opposing college conservative organization fundraising efforts.

Interesting note: LLR-lefty Chuck has never criticized campus left wing group fundraising efforts.

Ever.

For any reason.

For obvious reasons.

"Unexpectedly"

So there really is a very serious problem with corruption and violence on our southern border, just as Prez Trump says.

By the way, anybody catch LLR-lefty Chuck's boy Biden attacking LLR-lefty Chuck beloved left wing hack Savannah Guthrie this morning??

Hilarious!

LLR-mensheviks vs LLR-bolsheviks!!

The clear and undeniable truth of what Trump has said is precisely what LLR-lefty Chuck seeks to minimize with his far left lies.

Fortunately, LLR-lefty Chuck's far left billionaire pals cant spend enough money to hide the truth any longer.

Thats unfair to Jen Rubin. She is merely a complete lying leftist hack POS.

LLR-lefty Chuck is far worse.

Trump didn’t mention that butterflies were under threat! Moar evidence he lies!!!1!!1!!

I’m sure if you keep going through the list of atrocities that the corruption of the Mexican government and law enforcement agencies are supporting, I’m sure you will find something that supports the leftist ludicrous agenda.

If it gets them to actually take action on the real problems, especially at the border to our country, then I suppose it may be something. I won’t hold my breath.

"Isn't the answer inevitably going to be drug-related?"

Not any more. The "Narcos" are now private armies, and drug-smuggling is rapidly becoming a sideline, albeit a profitable one. Mexico under AMLO is in free fall. In many parts of Mexico, people who have a problem with a neighbor don't go to the police, they go to the mob. The cops can't help you, but the local mob might.

And Cookie, you're right. Mexico is a picture of a very possible future for the US. Which is why we need the wall, and massively increased immigration enforcement.

No. If it ever happens here, it will develop from within. I'm not sure if the full-blown "hard" police state that would be implemented (as opposed to the not-so-obvious "soft" police state already in place) would help quell the lawlessness and brutality or nourish it.

"No. If it ever happens here, it will develop from within."

Bullshit. The Mexican mafias are already operating in the US, using the plata o plombo approach they developed in Latin America. Kidnapping is on the rise in the border states, and you may be sure that law enforcement is increasingly penetrated. How much of the Democrats Open Borders policy is paid for by narcos?
