Resembles parts of southern New England, southern MA and northern RI and CT, south of Worcester.

It is a strange winter. Been cooler the last several days, high of 29 predicted for tomorrow. Then we shoot up to low 60's on Saturday, mid-40's Friday and Sunday. I'm skiing the end of the month, hoping we get enough colder weather in the mountains so at least they can make snow. I love this time of year, however strange this one may be.

There were three parties in the Covington kids incident: A Native American activist with a checkered history. The Black Hebrews who were shouting grotesque insults at the students. The Covington students who were shouting school cheers. Some of them wore MAGA hats....Guess who the media decided were the demons among these three. It takes a powerful amount of presumptive bias to look past the Black Hebrews and find fault with the students. Nathan Phillips, the Native American activist, had his reasons, but there was no excuse for the media to single these kids out for abuse.....Well, give CNN credit. They certainly chose the right day to settle. Maybe NBC can settle on the day Ghislaine Maxwell suffers a tragic accident while indulging in auto erotic asphyxiation.

After considering the various proposed causes for the downing of Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752, I believe it was more likely than not a bomb.

It is tempting to believe the idea that:

It Sure Looks Like the Ukrainian 737 May Have Been Accidentally Shot Down in Iran

http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020/01/iran-plane-737-crash-in-tehran-was-it-shot-down.html#comments

...since the Iranians won't release the recovered black boxes to Boeing. But that doesn't mean they won't release the boxes to Ukraine. The French have good experience in black box analysis and the Ukrainians could easily farm the job out to them.

Wikipedia
Timeline of airliner bombing attacks

"...in the latter part of the 20th century, assassination and political and religious militant terrorism became the dominant motive for attacking large jets."

"...This is a chronological list of airliner bombing attacks. All entries on the list should have their own article. Explosions deemed to have not resulted from a bomb should not be included on this list":

"10 October 1933 United Airlines Chesterton crash
A Boeing 247 was destroyed by a bomb, with nitroglycerin as the probable explosive agent. A Chicago gangland murder was suspected, but the case remains unsolved.[2] It is thought to be the first proven act of air sabotage in commercial aviation."

There have been 10 airline bombings since 1994. The great majority were associated with Islamic terrorist groups.

Amazon Music recommended the soundtrack for the movie "Yesterday" and I listened to it a few times, then I did something I don't normally do and rented the streaming movie. It was really good. The premise is that a struggling musician in England is hit by a bus during a worldwide power blackout; when he wakes up, he is the only one in the world who remembers the Beatles and their music, so he starts putting out their music as his own. Himesh Patel does a great job performing the Beatles' music. It's really a feel-good movie.

here's a sign o' the times!

A $1.2 billion homeless housing bond was approved by L.A. voters in 2016," said Fox Nation's Tomi Lahren. "And what, over three years later, do we have to show for it? A single housing project offering, get this, just 46 housing units."

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti unveiled the housing development on Monday. It's one of three facilities that were slated to open in 2019, yet it's the only one to be completed so far.

so! 1.2 BILLION dollars (or, 1,200 Million, as they'd say in briton)
That comes to a little over 26 MILLION per housing unit; which Seems high...
BUT, if we assume the other two units (someday) come online, without cost overruns; it would come to UNDER NINE MILLION dollars a housing unit! that's a GREAT Price, isn't it?

Thanks for the link. If the photo of the guidance cone of what seems to be a TOR SAM is real and was found near where the airliner went down, that would appear to kill the bomb theory.

In the comments, this guy significantly improves what was previously spit out by Google Translate:

merrob6258 says:
January 8, 2020 at 7:19 pm
Looks like bad google translate. My Farsi is rusty by I translate it as

“One of the local people sent a view in a water canal near the crash site of the Ukrainian airplane of the control part of a Tor-M Missile”

Photo: https://theconservativetreehouse.files.wordpress.com/2020/01/missile-ukraine-1.jpg

Compared to a photo of the Russian Buk SAM guidance cone that shot down Malaysia Airlines flight MH1 over occupied Ukraine:

http://lugansk-news.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/InRussia.jpg

https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2020/01/08/iran-refuses-to-hand-over-black-box-from-fatal-boeing-crash-near-tehran-nose-of-sam-missile-discovered-near-crash-site/

Does Iran have these SAM's? Yup:

Islamic Republic of Iran Air Defense Force
In December 2005, Iran entered into a contract to purchase 29 TOR-M1...mobile surface-to-air missile defense systems from Russia worth more than US$700 million (EUR 600 million).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_Republic_of_Iran_Air_Defense_Force

Tor missile system

The Tor missile system (Russian: "Тор"; English: torus[1]) is an all-weather low to medium altitude, short-range surface-to-air missile system designed for engaging airplanes, helicopters, cruise missiles, precision guided munitions, unmanned aerial vehicles and short-range ballistic threats (Anti-Munitions). Originally developed by the Soviet Union under the GRAU designation 9K330 Tor, the system is commonly known by its NATO reporting name, SA-15 "Gauntlet".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tor_missile_system

So, again, if the photo of the guidance cone of what seems to be a TOR SAM is real and was found near where the airliner went down, now the question is whether or not Iran will allow non-Iranian inspectors to view the wreckage before Iran makes the damaged parts of the plane that incriminate them disappear.

Weirdest thing so far of 2020 just happened tonight. I am just getting back from the gym. When I first left the house and drove to the gym, the parking lot was full. I work out at night to avoid crowds and waiting time, so I decided to take a little cruise and give it time to thin out some. Usually only happens once a month, but it's happened 3x so far since New Years (all those new members probably). My path took me to I-55N/S near the 236 exit, and I turned north on the east-side frontage road. As I was turning around in the parking lot of a bar, I noticed something. I stopped. I stared.

I know exactly where Althouse was when she took the first picture. She was at Snooker's Bar at the intersection of Washington St and Strip Mine Road, Wilmington IL. Less than 10 minutes from my house.

It was the signs that caught my eye. I didn't notice the bar at first in that picture - my brief glance at the background left the impression of a convenience store. I had been focused on just the road signage, and seeing them right there, even in the dark, rung a very loud bell in my mind.

Still not sure where the dilapidated Texaco sign is at, but I've got a mission for tomorrow. What the Hell brought you to the area around my humble little Coal City, IL, Althouse?
