Joe Rogan responds after he was attacked — as transphobic and homophobic — because he said he'd probably vote for Bernie Sanders and Bernie Sanders shared that on Twitter.

Life lesson:

Any accusation of being "transphobic and homophobic" is a bad-faith argument made by a bad-faith person.

You stand up for Bernie, and his Sandernistas call you the same names they spew against Trump supporters, anyway.

Enjoy your new friends, Joe.

I am Laslo.

I made it 6 minutes through that explanation/apology tour and that's about all I could watch or listen to. I like Joe Rogan. Seems like a good guy. Knows what he knows and admits what he does not. And he's one of about 7.5 Billion assholes with an opinion on this planet. Aside from that, it's time people stopped apologizing to the chronically aggrieved among us. They are not unfairly dismembered. They are, like all of us, fair game.

It's called life. Now get on with it.

Rogan may only be 5’ 7”, but he’s also bald.

Also, Joe could knock out Jordan Peterson or Steven Crowder with one roundhouse kick.

Fernandinande said...

He said something like "[transexualism] matters in sports, but not in other situations."

Maybe other people think it matters for more important situations than just sports.

Anybody want to summarize that? No way in hell I'm sitting thru it.

"How much of this is because of the way you look? You know...you're a muscular bald-headed white guy..."

As a muscular bald-headed white guy I resemble that comment! Also, no I don't think that had anything to do with it. I think it had to do with he's popular and he has a good show, and people can't stand people that are 'cancellable' supporting people they're for or against, either to help or to harm.

Because he's a talk-show guy, I think it's de-rigueur he must explain his statements although I think he and others should also come out saying this has to stop. You will never ever ever never forever be able to convince these people (specifically our alphabet-soup friends) of your position. Full stop. They're deranged. Their presence to volume ratio is something like 1:10,000. They exist online, on twitter, on facebook, etc. for nothing else then to attack anything that remotely resembles criticism of their fruit-loop lifestyle. They are the most close-minded people ever, constantly projecting persecution while simultaneously getting off on it.

His points about the UFC trans fight aren't just valid, they're 100% correct. Everytime you defend yourself for saying so they just rip the scab open again. There shall never be peace with these people. Nothing is good enough. I haven't the foggiest clue how they stole the word 'gay' considering they're the unhappiest people on planet earth.

He should be attacked for coming out as a commie fellow traveler, not as a transphobe.

Rogan is good, mostly because he is apolitical. He's a fucking moron, in his own words. But he is inquisitive and open-minded and not blinded by political strictures. So, often, his podcasts are enjoyable. I liked his interview of Dan Crenshaw (my favorite pol) and Tulsi.

So I give the guy a mulligan.

Temujin said, "I made it 6 minutes through that explanation/apology tour..."

Well, you missed the best line. The guest is going on about how he hates politics and knows nothing about it. At 8:30 he says, "[Politics is] taking too much time out of your day, burns too many calories..."

The Althouse commentariat must be full of slim, well-conditioned people.

Transphobia... a projected condition. Conflation of sex, gender, and choice. #HateLovesAbortion

Allegations of transphobia are akin to allegations of diversity (e.g. racism, sexism).

Gogan says he doesn’t understand the skill set needed for a President and that he doesn’t understand economics. Only someone with that lack of knowledge would consider voting for Bernie.

Probably helps to have no knowledge of history either...

Not attacked. Lighten up. Rogan is a self-admitted ignoramus. He's not stupid, he has just devoted a wee bit more time to working out than to reading stuff more challenging than Brandan Fokken's bulking meal plan.

Just like any other subject Rogan just needs a guest, someone who can explain things to him — slowly and carefully using monosyllabics whenever possible. Things like the tangible benefits of the Constitution, something Mr. Sanders is compelled to abolish, and the undesirability of gulags.

Well, the part I was able to sit through had This Joe Rogan guy talking about himself. It appear that he believes himself to be a moron. Also, that he previously said he was probably going to vote for Bernie Sanders. That's as much as I could put up with. We'll have to tag-team this one.

Amazing--my tolerance level is the same as Temujin's! I watched what I could, and then came to see comments. (Speaking of tolerance, I had dinner last night with a former [liberal Episcopalian] colleague now at Princeton and asked about his wife; she has become a Mayor Pete volunteer, he told me, but only after hoping I wouldn't find her politics offensive. Do other people get pre-apologies like this in everyday conversation, or is it just us fierce, veins-in-our-teeth, growling secular right libertarians?)

Whatever happened to "Never apologize, never explain"? Oh, I see, it migrated to the farthest left reaches of Cloudcoocooland and only operates in one direction--the usual Lefty ratchet-racket.

The British actor Laurence Fox was on Tucker last night.

He seems likable and open minded. He's right about not allowing the transgendered to punch women without informed consent on the part of the women. He's wrong about Bernie Sanders. The Bernie Sanders thing is a political opinion. The punching of women is more like a 2+2=4 thing.....Almost by definition, straight, white middle class people are behind the curve. They're not the ones pitching, and some of the pitches are beanballs. However, straight, white, middle class people are generally more open and accepting of new ideas than artists, intellectuals, and various elites. The middle class changed their opinion on gay marriage quicker than the artists and intellectuals disavowed collective farms and Harvey Weinstein.

Straight, white, middle class Americans are pretty much live and let live. The things the left demonizes them for are the results of backlash against leftist activists and radicals attempting to force things down straight, white, middle class throats.

This is wrong. Rogan isn't stupid, he's ignorant. More importantly, he knows he is a lot of the time, and seems generally interested in learning when given the opportunity.

His podcast is about as eclectic as can be. One day he's talking to Jordan Peterson about identity politics and the next some guy is telling Rogan that there were prehistoric civilizations using modern technology. I'll say this, his show is usually very interesting. He's one of the best podcasters out there.

I've always liked Joe Rogan and wish I had more time to listen to him. I didn't realize until quite recently (and some here may not yet realize) just how popular is podcast is. He talks in that segment about how his show (Joe) has become way too powerful and influential for his own comfort. "In January 2015, the podcast was listened to by more than 11 million people. By October 2015, it had grown to acquire 16 million downloads a month. By April 2019 the podcast had 190 million downloads a month." And that was 9 months ago.

narciso here is an idea.

Most of the actors on the political stage are bought and paid for - sad wormtounged Roberts is obviously bought and paid for, sleazy Romney is no better, the eternal teenage class nerd Schiff or whatever his name his is no better, the old rich lady whom we think of as a Phyllis Diller clone, in not a good way, Pelosi, who was born rich in a bad political family that ruined Baltimore, is no better either, poor old Kaganovichist Bernie is an old man with hatred in his heart for the unborn, every single one of whom are just as much loved by God as him, and so on.

A few of the actors on the current stage still have self-respect - on my side, Trump, Rand Paul, Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham ---- on the wrong side, there are people who have self-respect but who are tragically wrong on the main issues of our day ---- poor lonely pro-choice Tulsi, the food-addict Michael Moore, the sex-addict Bill Maher, and the tragically confused Peggy Noonan ....

in their foolishness, they think that nothing is important for people who do not know that God loves them.

BUT IT IS IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER THAT GOD LOVES YOU AND GOD WANTS YOU TO LOVE EVERY CREATURE WHO IS NOT LOVED

That being said, any of us, even the people who make big dollars by refusing to stand up for the babies who just want to live and who cannot live because of the laws that Tulsi and Moore and Maher and Noonan support - any of us are just ten seconds away from just saying a prayer to God for forgiveness for being pro-choice (and consequently full of hatred for the innocent) - and by that prayer understanding this ----

God loves us all.

There are billions of people on this earth, I mentioned a few of them here, some of them less cold-hearted than others, because that is the way language works, we can't name every single one of the billions of people who need to care .......but all of us need to

care about those who almost nobody cares about.

The option of not caring - of being pro-choice ---- simply is not a viable option, if we want to live in a world where LOVE reigns instead of a world where something like LACK OF LOVE is the most powerful option those who think they have power in this world think they need to be subjected to as the option that directs them to success in this world -----

to be clear, what I am saying is this: nobody should feel they need not care about the least among us. It is wrong to feel that way - that is not my opinion, that is the truth!!!!

By the way did you see Trump's speech at the pro-life march? Reagan did not have the balls to make a speech like that ....

Sad!

stephen cooper said...

You've heard of him.

narciso said...

Well in terms of interests and style id say steyn, is there anything he doesnt know.

stephen cooper said...

narciso, reagan could have been a great man.
he wasn't.
I know why he wasn't. maybe you do too.

he had insufficient faith.
the poor little man was scared to address the pro-life march in person. that is a historical fact of which he ought to be ashamed.
his heart was in the right place but he was not a man with strong faith and real convictions. he was scared to do the right thing ---- Sad!

but in his defense, he never knew what it is to be a real faith healer like I have been, once or twice back in the day, i don't think he ever once expected God to heal someone just because he asked in a prayerful way (sad!), he was never as ambitious and as full of trust in God as I am, and he did not have the courage to know that he was supposed to be so so much better than he was.

not his fault, in a way. God uses even the faint-hearted to do good things, and poor Reagan was, after all, someone who was clearly faint-hearted but trying to do good things.

sad that he was not more of a real person than he was.

well i am not a pretty boy and famous politician like him, so there's that, i understand why people talk so flatteringly about him. for every billion people who talk flatteringly about Reagan maybe one or two people have said nice things about me (but I am the faith healer, he is the second-rate politician) ..... i have been told again and again on this website that i am a nobody, for example i have been told that i am a nobody because when Paul McCartney dies the whole world will mourn and when I die almost nobody will notice, i have been told worse things than that because i merely try and say this in ways that people think are not the right way to say such things:

IT IS NO SMALL THING TO BE A FRIEND TO A CREATURE WHO NEVER HAD A FRIEND IN THIS WORLD.

to say such things is a gift.

wwebd cockroaches (google those two words)

1974 pleasanton, I remember.

li/arlington .....

in the almost really good book called the brothers karamazov, there are many characters who try so hard to tell the eponymous brothers that they should not waste their lives in lust and anger and resentment

efim polenov, the narrator, poor Father Zosima, they all try and tell the eponymous Brothers Karamazov not to waste their God-given lives ....

Alyosha was not a good guy, he did not love truth
Dmitri was cruel he had little love in his heart
Ivan was a shonda to the goyim, to the extent a fallen away Orthodox-baptized intellectual so often can be .....

trust me it is not a useful book to read or remember if you do not know that the only way to read any book
the only way to live a decent day under the Good Sky that God created on that early day of creation is to live that day
REMEMBERING THIS ...

it is no small thing to be a friend to a creature who never had a friend in this world

How could you write "No" when referring to a need?

There is always constant need, evermore, unless no universe or stars or planets or molecules or atoms or electons or quarks.

I say this as a person who could have benefited greatly, but chose not to, having read and not learned the lessons taught in Jordon Peterson's 12 blh because I spent about 12 minutes thinking "how could a crab "want" according to this text" and found no answer.

I gave the book away and now I work for the person I gave it to. Changed his life.
