Except AOC has some fans. Castro’s endorsement is worth less

A bit like the AOC endorsement

Cuz Mexicans?

It's sort of appropriate to have a Castro endorse her.

Nate Silver is so 2012.

He’ll retire after this election.

Bernie and Liz need black support. They aren’t getting it. Biden has it.

Yuuuge endorsement!

DarkHelmet said...

The guy was not relevant when he was running. Less so now.

Also, the whole 'people versus the powerful' thing is so old and lame that it makes Joe Biden look spry by comparison.

Apparently Castro thinks 'the wealthy' are not people at all.

What a strange universe the Democrats inhabit. We all know they don't really believe this class warfare BS. Not even Three House Bernie. But they think we believe they mean it? Delusional. And it's the national media that enables them to remain delusional.

I have a hard time envisioning heavy black turnout in 2020. Is the black electorate going to be enthused about Biden?

When will blacks realize how condescending "they gonna put y'all back in chains" was?

Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn.

@TommyD and @Tommyesq

Biden can get the black vote because most blacks remember him as O's driver. Kind of like Eddie Murphy and his butler in Trading Places.

Biden should say at his next stump, "Thas right Massa! Bottum Rail 'on Top!"

"everyone counts"

So all lives matter? Sounds racist.

The only endorsements likely to help Warren would be from Sanders or Obama. Castro is a non-entity. I had thought there was a chance that Sanders would do so poorly in the first 3 contests that, withdraw or not, his support might start to bleed off to Warren after South Carolina, but that looks increasingly less likely today- Sanders might well win the first two contests, and have things go exactly the other way around. The question I think might be most important now is who does Warren endorse when she withdraws after New Hampshire?

rehajm said...

A bit like my endorsement of Cheerwine™. As confusing and as relevant, anyways...

"A bit like the AOC endorsement of Bernie, it comes at a time when Warren was starting to be written off / taken for granted despite not really being too far out of the running."

This would have made more sense if Silver had said, "Not much like..."

1. AOC, for all her idiocy was an actual rising star who generated a lot of enthusiasm among Democrats. Castro is like, who's Castro?

2. Bernie was the only significant challenge to Hillary. Warren has two people well-ahead of her and one which is essentially tied with her.

Interesting

A (practically) random nobody endorsing a person who realistically has very little chance of winning the nomination at this point is not "interesting" in the slightest. I seriously doubt this will move the needle even a planck length.

Sebastian said...

"who does Warren endorse when she withdraws after New Hampshire?"

Not sure she withdraws. Yes, she is at risk of losing in IA, NH, and SC. But she will likely hold out for CA and NY. With some elite support: she is the one person still in the race who could unite the Dem factions. Biden is too male, too old, and too "moderate." Bernie is too male, too old, and too left. Pete is too young, too untested, too unreliably left. None of the black candidates are strong enough--one will have to be VP to boost turnout.

But her path is not easy. Have at it, Dems!

gilbar said...

So, does this mean; that EVERY ONE, of the 3 people that supported Hooligan Castro,
are now going to be for Lezzy Waren?

Because; that could make a YUGE difference... If nobody else goes to the polls!!!

last time i was ordering my burgers at a Cookout™, i laughed and laughed at Cheerwine™
Then i tried one.... Yummmy!

When the dust settles, you can only be certain that Democrats will look around and wonder: "How were we saddled with this loser Candidate to go against Trump?" They'll say nothing out loud of course, but the thought will be there.

BleachBit-and-Hammers: "Castro is auditioning for VP. nothing more."

Warren is the only dem left who will even take his call, so Castro goes all in with Warren!

However, 0 x 0 = 0.

And no, I don't care if my writing that hurts LLR-lefty Chuck's feelings.

Who will Warren endorse when she drops out?

It will be either Biden or Sanders.

No clue how one is like the other. AOC and Castro aren’t even of the same ethnic background or extraction. He’s Mexican-American from south Texas and she’s Puerto Rican from NYC **cough** Westchester **cough**.

rcocean said...

AOC is a fool. Bernie is 78 years old, and has a bad heart. He's NEVER going to be nominated. She should have endorsed Warren.

Temujin said...

What more needs to be said of Elizabeth Warren's connection with the American people.

And of the gap between Julian Castro's self-image and reality?

Ken B said...

Yeah, that'll put her over the top: Castro talking about “big structural change”.

She should have endorsed Warren.

As Bernie fades she's the vessel for his agenda. Bernie helped groom her...

That’s what I was thinking. I was puzzled that Althouse posted about this. In other news, Beria endorses Stalin.

That was in Granny Warren's beer-filled kitchen. I wonder if she offered him one.

It'd be interesting to know how many takes his film crew have to do since Granny's area of Cambridge is so ultra-lefty and so ultra-white that the appearance of an Hispanic probably burned up the phone wires with neighbors' calls to the police station.

Ray said...

Biden and Bernie need to have a minority women for VP. That leaves Castro out. Liz only a minority. Liz is Castro's only shot.

In a TOTAL SWERVE, she goes for a Bloomberg/Steyer ticket.

Eleanor, you're right. And Stacey's paid off her fake caring for her parents excuse for not paying her taxes for years with some very big fake nonprofit paydays. So she's right on track to play the role of Obama.

This could be just like every other season of Veep.

Something tells me, that AOC's endorsement means a lot more than Julian Castro's, whose endorsement is probably even less than John Kerry's endorsement.

Eventually the party will be fractured into three or four candidate camps with no hope of unity. The Dems will cry out to the gods for someone to unify them. Someone with stature. Gravitas. Star power. Someone who has paid their dues.

And Hillary of Nazareth... I mean Chappaqua will appear having risen from the dead and ascended to the clouds of obscurity will appear. The Second Coming with all its messianic glory. And as she offers her life once again in promise of salvation of the party the faithful will roar...
...” I’m with her!”

bleachbit says it, aiming for the VP ring, and the idea gives me heartburn: Julian and Elizabeth. ack!

I can feel the acid catching up in my gullet just thinking of how Democrats would get all fussy-butt about those two and try to righteously force them down our throats.

It may be true of any of the pairings they conjure, but somehow I caught it real hearing this one.

Ack!
