The HIllary-Brennan-Schitt deep state proggy left are terrified of anyone who would go on the evil FOX news.... and actually talk to people. Talk to the deplorables. Oh NO! Guards, seize her!

The entrenched corrupt left are scared of free speech.
They are the "cancel" party.

Look what they did to Mayor Pete the other day. Low and behold Mayor Pete said something somewhat positive (neutral really) - about the TEA party once upon a time (Taxed Enough Already) and some in the entrenched radical thought-crime left yelled and screamed "He's done!" "He rubbed elbows with racists!" racist racist racist!
Total Garbage for thought process.

Total. Garbage.The democrat party is a mess. It's a CNN, MSNBC Schitt-hole.

Bernie was saying that in 2016. But somehow what was "Out of Control" in 2016, is now mainstream for the D's. MY only hope for Tulsi is she runs against Brad Schrek for Hawaii D Senate seat.

But is Weird how Hillary went after her. I don't think Tulsi's ever topped 6% but every heretic in the D party Must Be Destroyed. Unlike the R's, who will nominate "Mavericks" who plan to run "Bi-partisan" administrations.

Yep there's some of this, some of the threatening the establishment order, a little of the hope she goes third party and a dash of hope she pulls the leftie party back toward the center.

She's the most fun and vocal one percenter (in the polls).

Tulsi is questioning America's imperial overreach, and even then in the softest of terms. Maybe we need to rethink our need to stick our noses in every country.

Do you know how threatening that is to the profitability of BIG players in DC

I'd like to think that's true. The fact is, Tulsi is largely untested in that regard.
Look what they're putting Trump through and the outcome is still up in the air. Could Tulsi withstand what Trump has?

Bruce Hayden said...

“Wow, this is 3 times now he has interviewed Tulsi. He definitely has the hots for her.”

I think that it is probably ore that she is the only interesting Dem candidate. In a previous comment, Ann pointed out that the Dem nominating process didn’t have any clarity yet. Much of that is because it is being driven by the party’s left, and their candidates are mostly in lockstep. Sure, they have some centrist candidates, even some governors, who might make decent Presidents. But they have gotten no traction thus far. So a big snooze. Except for Tulsi, who seems to enjoy poking the dragon and talking truth to power. She is fun. The rest mostly are not. Picking a fight with Crooked Hillary, and getting the queen to respond was masterful. Esp the queen who famously gave Putin the wrongly labeled Reset button, and hired people to dig up dirt on Trump from the Russian govt accusing this war veteran of being a Russian asset. Masterful. I think that I would fall asleep interviewing most of the other candidates. Not Tulsi.

And, if the Dems ever want to push the country further to the left, they will probably need to do it through an attractive package, like Tulsi, and not a bland one like one of eight (I think) back bench Senators running. Ok, Biden would be fun to interview, as long as he lasted, for his flamboyant memory lapses. You never quite know when he was going to go off into the weeds, doing something that would greatly embarrass a lesser mortal, but he would just take in stride. Other than that, boooring.

Bay Area Guy said...

Tulsi has one idea - let's reduce military interventions to "only when necessary". Kinda where Rand Paul is, kinda the opposite of where John McCain was and John Bolton is.

Not a bad idea. Definitely deserves a seat at the table. Post Soviet breakup in '89, perhaps even a compelling idea.

Most of the Democrat ideas are merely variations of "Orange Man Bad". So, at least Tulsi has her thinking cap on, at least part of the day.

Even crazier, let's go back to the old "declaration of war" rule. With a clause added to define what constitutes victory. It'll save us from conflicts that last 18 years.

Instead, we get Tulsi saying, "Trust me."

Hard pass.

So if Gabbard or Buttigeig becomes President who will be their cabinet? The deepstate will take over their administration. Will they be able to fight back, or will they have to go along? That's the trouble with political novices as President. Obama had the Chicago machine and could co-opt some of the Clinton machine. Trump had to start from scratch and look what that got him. So would Gabbard or Buttigeig. Buttigeig would fold like a cheap lawn chair. Gabbard wouldn't have a clue. I think I'll stick with Trump as the only hope of changing things.

mockturtle said...

She is very appealing and not just to men. I like her gutsy approach and her foreign policy ideas, though not some of her domestic ones. Certainly, if she ran in 2024 against a GOPe/Neocon, I'd likely vote for her. Maybe throw in Yang as VP.

Sebastian said...

Of course not. That's why voting for president is also voting for a team. Not Althouse: she'll vote for the "best person" and will make "plans" later and "see what happens."

It used to be that you had to accomplish something in life in order to be considered for president. If nothing else, at least hold a significant office or achieve something outside of public office.

That's it.

“Tulsi is not ingratiating in that feminine way, something many women seem to notice preternaturally and most men don't notice at all. I bet she doesn't have many female friends.”

I noticed the “most” before the “men” after pasting the comment. Neither of us like it, and she usually doesn’t participate, because when she does, like she did Thanksgiving, with some older women, I feel like whacking her. (Didn’t, of course). But mostly the other women, all now single, trash talked men. But, in their defense, one is newly divorced after 40 years of marriage, so I have to give them some leeway. I don’t know why, but I haven’t had patience for that for nearing three decades now for that version of women speak. That was the one thing that my mother would do that would have me grinding my teeth. I blame that on her growing up in girl world, with mostly females around, and she being the only female routinely in my life growing up in boy world.

This maybe why I do enjoy listening to Tulsi, more than the other Dem candidates. I have a hard time imagining the other female candidates telling the American public hard truths, as GW Bush had to after 9/11. I am pretty sure that she could.

Tulsi talks more like a man, which is good for an Army Officer. That sort of ingratiating female speak would leave open the question of whether the orders being given were god or bad. Not something that you want in the military, when the officer could be sending the soldiers to their deaths.

But with over half the voting public female, the ingratiating female speak is probably effective with a large percentage of them. Esp on the Dem side of the political divide, which, for fairly obvious reasons has seriously become the female party. But I don’t think that would work well this time around against Trump. Who are you more likely to trust with the nuclear football, the dominant male, or the placating female, who appears to be easily intimidated? This is probably part of why female cops shoot people more often than male cops do. Part of Obama’s problem inn foreign relations may have been that he was our first female president, and appeared easy to bully. No one bullies Trump, except for maybe Melania and Ivanka. Even Putin, shown in one famous picture bare chested riding a bear, knows this. This wasn’t an issue in 2016, because Crooked Hillary had been Sec of State, and even co-President, while Trump was the dilettante NYC developer. She tried to intimidate him a couple times. Now though, he is POTUS, used to shoving around the most powerful people on the planet, and his opponent is what? A backbench Senator?

Bruce Hayden said...

“Isolationism is very appealing on a certain level. But I also believe that power abhors a vacuum. If we're not "influencing" other countries, other countries most certainly will”

But that isn’t all bad. Pulling out of Syria is one of the best things that we have done in awhile. Russia, with declining oil sales, economy, and birth rate, dutifully stepped in to fill the void in the quagmire. There is no real winning at this point on their part. One of the things that Trump has shown is that the US has far more arrows in their quiver than boots on the ground military. Economic warfare, including tariffs and foreign aid, can be devastating in competent hands like Trump’s - he has hurt China, hurt Russia worse, and devastated Iran using economic warfare. We have the biggest national economy in the world still, but until Trump, really hadn’t used our advantages there, including access to our markets, to anywhere near the full extent possible - some at least as a holdover from the post WW II Marshall Plan. That isn’t really isolationism, but rather the use of more effective weapons.

Michael K said...

This is probably part of why female cops shoot people more often than male cops do.

I'll bet Stacey Koon wishes he had let Melanie Singer shoot Rodney King, as she was about to do when the LAPD arrived. The result was no serious injury to King and years of prison for the LAPD guys. Singer even testified against them, then retired on stress disability.

I like my presidential candidates to have experience as an executive, preferably as a state governor. Supreme Commander of Allied Forces Europe worked out OK, but a major? Come on.

The dumbing down of our presidential choices should give us pause. We now get to choose from a former vice president, old senators, a state DA (!), mayors of medium-sized cities, and a casino tycoon. This cannot be good for our country.

That's a very good question, Greg. Her independence of mind and frank appeal to Trump voters suggest she should. The reality of the Dem Party being centralized, and Tulsi only beginning her promising political career, says otherwise. That's a good gut-check, though. She's full of it, but better at pretending otherwise. Mostly interesting because of how lifelike she seems compared to the other poorly programmed humanoid talking point automatons.

Well she's not a machine Democrat, and her only appeal is the originality of her thinking and her ideas. It doesn't make them good ideas, just original ones. Personally I think she's almost as far left as the rest of the pack, and she doesn't have the chops yet to really be a serious, coherent candidate. She has symbolic and photogenic aspects to her credit, but I do tire of people trumpeting their life accomplishments as amplified self-endorsements. For instance, while she is career military, her service is not as a warrior, although she would prefer you to think of it that way. She served no where near front lines, but in rear support. Does she talk about that? No, just pictures in uniform by heavy weapons. Or, of her surfing in Yoga pose. Not impressed with the politician moves while proclaiming herself not a politician.

In a major flip, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) announced Friday that she now supports an impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump over his interactions with Ukraine.

“It is unfortunate, but necessary, that I speak in support of the inquiry into the president’s alleged abuse of power in relation to his interactions with Ukraine’s leaders,”

I think too many conservatives are reading too much into Tulsi since she back sassed Hillary about what a disaster Hillary personally made Syria during the Obama administration. Tulsi really is an orthodox democratic candidate who is anti-energy, pro government subsidies for preferred industries and anti-choice for private healthcare. She would be a disaster economically if allowed to win. Just by not being bat shiat crazy liberal isn't enough to give her a pass.

Not really.

Tulsi is your typical leftish wing democrat who on every issue but SOME foreign policy issues cannot be trusted anymore than Bernie or Warren.

She doesn't buy into the russia hoax/hoax dossier like Howard does nor the hoax gang rape accusations that all the other leftists and LLR-leftists fall over themselves advancing.
