The phone and internet was out ("Area-wide outage" but only for phones in a particular server) for two days. So how do you call the phone company to report this, is the question.

I propose morse code for this. Set aside say 7030 kHz for calls to the phone company to report an outage.

I experienced a new concept today over at Instapundit. Hat tip to commenter Jquip
for this.
Transblack.
As in, I was identified as white at birth, likely due to having Caucasian mom and dad, but I now identify as black.
I can now demand all of the extra perks of being black- Affirmative Action, scholarships, the virtual halo that attaches to persons of color on college campuses and Democratic party activities.
And the best thing is, none of the downsides of being black. I will never be arrested for driving while black. I will never be followed by the department store security guard. I will never be shot by a police officer. I do still have to take precautions against sunburn.
Yes, I like this. Transblack. That is what I am.

And he screwed it all up. Nunes can prove his whereabouts, a man like that has records of where he is, and Schiff was wrong. The phone number was what AT&T thought was OMB, but they were not in a real position to know, and the WH says it isn’t OMB, and Giuliani denies ever talking to OMB.

Rhhardin said, "So how do you call the phone company to report this, is the question."

Both landline phone and cellphones were out? Otherwise, one can be used to report trouble on the other, of course. Doubt many phone companies will be monitoring ham frequencies for trouble reports. They barely even handle reports over the normal process any more.

As demonstrated on this blog, most progressives lack self-awareness. That allows them to be disgusting while believing they are noble. It allows them to be evil while claiming to be righteous. It is the path of least perception.

And in other news:

“The FBI is investigating the delivery — via the mail — of a terroristic threat to a McMinnville couple who are suing the brother of Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden, Knox News has confirmed.

The threat came in August in a plain white envelope to the McMinnville home of Michael Frey and his wife, Natalie Frey, just days after Knox News publicly revealed their claims of fraud and deception against Biden’s brother, Jim Biden, in a federal lawsuit.”

This is what the impeachment is supposed to cover up. It’s like a slow motion train wreck for Democrats. The train is doomed, but the engineers are still running around, blowing whistles, pulling levers, shouting... Problem is that the train weighs so many tons it ain’t gonna stop before that collapsed bridge.

Yes, but the Democrat's have sailed that ship. There is absolutely nothing left to do but furiously fling poo. Nothing else. How does a modern political party, with a near total media monopoly, get itself in that position? It's fascinating and will make one hell of a book in a generation or two.

I'm working my way through Shakespeare's lesser known plays. I like "King John". There's the odd bit of graceful language, but it doesn't have any great soliloquies for actors to munch on, so it doesn't get performed very often. The plot holds particular interest for these times. Everybody in the play-- the virtuous and the wicked, the clever and the stupid--is plotting to advance their interests or at least their survival until tomorrow. Pretty near everybody fails. There are no successful plots, but some people get lucky.....The play is based around events that happened during King John's reign. The play doesn't mention the Magna Carta which was signed during King John's reign. Talk about burying the lede....... So there you have it. The King. the barons, the French, the Church prelates are all plotting their plots and those plots all go splat. Our greatest poet with the benefit of hundreds of years of hindsight fails to recognize the most important event of King John's reign. A tale told by a bard, full of plots and counterplots, that misses the import of what really happened. It signified something.....Lots of plots and counterplots going around with impeachment proceedings. I doubt that such plots are the significant events of our lifetime or that any of the actors in this drama will have any great soliloquies.

With about 16" of snow on the ground, and cold weather forecast for the foreseeable future, there is speculation among my friends and acquaintances that we won't see bare ground now until March. This one snowfall greatly exceeds the average for December in these parts. My recollection is that we usually get very little if any snow at this time of year, and what we get doesn't last. My buddy that retired to Florida three years ago to escape this sort of weather is upset on our behalf. I don't mind it at all.

What craziness should we anticipate from our betters today? Some speculate that Nadler will be drafting articles of impeachment for a long time to come. I'm not so sure, that would take the whole thing out of the public view. One read of Nancy's announcement of drafting the articles, and subsequent meltdown, is that she, having reluctantly agreed to proceed with this impeachment inquiry, is pushing for the conclusion to get it behind them and minimize the damage to her and the Democrats.

Meanwhile Trump goes about his business. Like this guy more and more every day.

“It’s very possible that Trump’s obstruction of justice from the Mueller probe will be added to articles of impeachment. You reap what you sow.”

Better comments than mine on this above. But I wanted to reiterate that the only way that Mueller and his coterie of Dem activist hack prosecutors were ever able to get anywhere near Obstruction of Justice was to work with Lawfare to develop a redefinition and intentional misinterpretation of an Obstruction statute, that took pieces of the statute out of context, violating numerous centuries old statutory construction rules, then cobbling them together into something that essentially changes the statute from a specific intent to a general intent crime. This misinterpretation has never been tested it Court, is almost guaranteed to fail a court test, and has been firmly rejected by the DoJ including by the AG, DAG, and, most importantly OLC, whose job includes interpreting statutes for the DOJ. Oh, and including these claims in the Mueller report, after the AG and DAG had determined there not to have been any Obstruction of Justice, of course, violated long standing DOJ rules.

In short, Inga admits, by suggesting that Wadler may add these “Obstruction of Justice” charges to the impeachment charges, that the upcoming articles of impeachment are partisan hack claims that have no actual basis in criminal law. Good job there.

Bruce Hayden said...

Let me add to my last diatribe, that conflating general intent with specific intent seems to be a Lawfare specialty. Schifty’s claims that Trump violated any statutes (and thus qualify as High Crimes and Misdemeanors) with his call with the Ukrainian President are completely dependent upon this sort of conflation.
