The new Hill-HarrisX poll has Bloomberg at 6% and Kamala Harris crashing to 2%.

The Hill reports.

She was only at 4 the previous poll, so the crash is "only" a loss of half her support.

6% = how many millions in paid ads?

Kamala Harris was supposed to be the female Barack Obama.

That idea didn't work.

daskol said...

6 for one, less than half of half a dozen for the other.

Kamala, why the long face?

Some White Democrats are shifting their support from Harris and from Biden to Bloomberg.

Some White Democrats supported Harris because she has worked as a prosecutor. Some of them are shifting to Bloomberg because he was relatively tough on crime as New York's mayor.

The level of thickness of the bubble that people like Bloomberg live in is remarkable. He has always felt that he was nationally loved, and respected. He has no idea. But he does have money. Lots and lots of money. So he has room to make mistakes. And room to just play around for awhile. I suspect he will cause the Dems more harm than good along the way.

Kamala? Just not the right stuff. Never was. She's not sure where she stands on anything, so how could anyone else be sure? Should stay in Cali where she can name her post. They love that sort of silly-speak. She could stay a Senator for life. Republicans are not even allowed to run for public office any longer in Cali.

Shit yeah! "Tough as Nails" Bloomberg was to Supersize Slurpee drinkers as Elliot Ness was to Al Capone.

Perhaps comparing the people who protect our border with the KKK was a crash and burn moment. That was a while ago. Failure to launch.

The shift to Bloomberg is because he wants the kind of tyranny they like.

$35 million to start, or 0.0006% of Bloomberg's net worth.

Bloomberg because he was relatively tough on crime as New York's mayor.

He was just groveling to be forgiven for his tough on crime approach.

They think Bloomberg can equal Trump because $billions and from NY. Sadly for them, while Trump likes things bigly, Bloomberg is small in all ways (including a ban on supersize sodas).

Can Bloomberg point to Iowa on a map?

That's some fast math there, Ann ;-)...The Hill describes it as a two point decrease. NOTHING to worry about!

A loss of half of support over 10% would meet my definition of a 'crash'. Harris crashed long ago. These are just the smoldering wreckage of her campaign.

I live in NYC. Bloomberg was never loved, but he was never hated. In NYC, that's an achievement. It's very rare that the Mayor isn't hated by some significant proportion of the population....Among Democrats, he'd be my first choice. He believes in capitalism and is sane. There's not many Democrats you can say that about.

I had picked Harris out of the chute.

But I later said that Bloomberg would swoop in to take the nomination.

The D's will win NY electoral votes -- that's already a given and it doesn't really matter which D. But can Bloomberg dance the swing states where Trump has an advantage?

Bloomberg benefits from the New Yorker effect. Most of the elite media types are either from the NYC area or live there or have relatives there. So, they think Bloomberg is "mainstream" - after all 51% of New Yorkers voted for him. In fact his support for globalism, open borders, social liberalism, and lower taxes for the RICh, makes him toxic in most of the USA.

Harris was done a long time ago, she's staying in for a VP slot.

rcocean said...

I seen Bloomberg's ads on TV. What a fraud. Yep, Mike's the hard-working Mayor who was tough on crime, and knows how to run a business. LOL!

rcocean said...

Bloomberg is the guy who broke the rule that Mayor's only serve 2 terms. I wouldn't trust him in the White House, he might do the same thing there.

rcocean said...

In 2008, the Northeastern R's were Shocked when Rudy, couldn't even win Florida. Why he was the 9-11 Mayor! They D's from NYC are going to be even more shocked when Bloomie spends 100 million dollars and get 50 delegates.

seems doable!
She just needs to find some far older sex molester frontrunner; and let him know she's going down

Admittedly she's 45 years older than Jo Biden usually goes for; but that's WHY they make plaid skirts

So that’s her solid unshakeable base. 2%.

Bloomberg has a lot of his money in China. It will be interesting to see how that affects his positions.

I'm getting a particular Bloomberg ad on YouTube over and over again and it says *nothing* about being tough on crime. It's all about "Mike" being a middle class kid who made gobs of money on Wall Street, as if that's a thing that Democrat primary voters approve of!

Her support is unmeasurable at this sample size.

Big Mike said...

If the real support for Harris is at 3% then it would be a very good polling organization that got 4% one time and 2% another. People trying to prognosticate from numbers that are inside the margin of error are hugely ignorant about what polls can and cannot do. We can, with confidence, say Bloomberg is more popular than Harris. Even there, if the margin of error is, say, 3% then his true support could be at 3% and the support for Harris at 5%. There’s a reason why statistics has confidence limits.

Howard said...

Bloomberg's legs are too short to dance in the corn-fed white-bread swing States.

BarrySanders20 said...

And Warren lost one third of her support, from 15% to 10%. That's significant too if this poll is representative.

Men support Mayor Pete 11 % but women only 7%. Booker gets 3% support from men and 0 from women. Why are Democratic women homophobic and racist?

Swede said...

At this point, and probably before, she's just hanging on in the hope of being chosen as the VP.

She appears to be clean and articulate, so there's an excellent chance that Biden selects her.

My wife (a life long Democrat) agrees with you. She is a moderate (by today's standards) who unfortunately buys what the Media sells. It will be interesting to see what happens when the Media goes so far overboard that moderate Dems start to wonder.

I agree that Bloomberg is sane and probably the only Democrat that I could tolerate as POTUS. However, I could never vote for a Democrat these days.

Not entirely true. We know it’s not zero.

Are you trying to imply that she is likely STD free? Not sure if Joe has the cognitive ability to care any more. Also not sure his eye site is poor enough for him not to notice she is a fair bit outside of his preferred age bracket...

2%, huh. #MeToo #HerToo #SheProgressed... lower. Given the choice, she would probably qualify the change in a different direction.

Trump should call Bloomberg "Commissar" (n. an official of the Communist Party, especially in the former Soviet Union or present-day China, responsible for political education and organization).

"The more you live, the faster you will die."
- Michael Bloomberg

Don't turn around, oh oh oh
(Ja, ja) Der Kommissar's in town, whoa oh oh
You're in his eye and you'll know why
The more you live, the faster you will die

Alles klar, Herr Kommissar?

I think we can safely say that Willie Brown deliberately torpedoed Harris's campaign with his public comments on their relationship and his lack of enthusiasm for her candidacy. The question is, why?

Some vestigial sense of civic duty?

Her campaign was in trouble before that, so I don't think he ruined her chances.

Willie was a showman. He liked to be the center of attention. This was another chance, maybe his last chance, to attract a little national attention, and he took it.

I wouldn't rule out envy: "I made you. Don't get above yourself." But also, Willie runs with pretty bitchy crowd nowadays. That may just be the way they talk about each other behind each other's back and now that he's retired he doesn't have to worry about blowback for saying in public what he says in private.

Or maybe he just thought she'd be a lousy candidate or president.

Lurker21 said...

John Lindsay (another party-swapping mayor) ran for president and did terribly. Ed Koch didn't even try. I guess Bloomberg won't go all the way, but after Trump did, I'm inclined never to say "never." Still, there is some necessary prep work that he didn't do. Trump did reality television to make himself a familiar figure who people felt like they knew and could relate to. Being short and Jewish and divorced and from New York and a billionaire are all things a candidate can overcome, but I don't see where Bloomberg did the prep work. Same thing with Obama, who went to Chicago and married an African-American woman from the neighborhood and got Harry Reid's support, versus Harris, who didn't do what she had to do beforehand.
