AA dislikes the term, but announcing preferred gender pronouns is a clear, blinking, bright virtue signal.

I had a small amount of sympathy for him, for being a true leftist. But then it became obvious he was a globalist stooge. He lost because of his insane anti-Democratic LYING behavior to stop the Brexit Bust out. IOW, he sacrificed everything for the EU. What a clown!

I didn't say which nation, did I? But whatever. An international treasure, then.

Sadly the Monster Raving Loony Party did'nt figure much this last election.
This sort of thing, and Monty Python's take on them, would be a natural.

I'm not anti-noun but I think the pronoun lobby has too much influence in public life. You seldom hear anyone say anything nice about adverbs, but they are a useful part of our language. The Labor Party with its concern for the neglected and abused parts of our society, should be more pro adverb.

Titania McGrath - even the name if hilarious.

Howard said...

My TDS friends and family like Boris and hate Corbyn. All suddenly Brexit is not feared. Will the Democratics read these entrails to defeat Trump via realpolitik?

CWJ said...

William,

Loved your comment. Thanks for the laugh. Adverb neglect is truly tragic, and an international (for chuck) disgrace.

Shouldn't preferred pronouns be required to be tattooed on foreheads? It would lessen the horror of misgendering (the scourge of the 21st century).

Change your mind.... I mean gender identity? Simple, a skin graft would be a cure. Plus it guarantees you have skin in the game.

No idea what this means but I suspect you don't either. Nobody is going to "defeat Trump" and it remains to be seen if Hillary wants another pratfall.

Uh, if I may.

I've been working diligently on this and I believe I now speak passable Howard language.

Howard: "Will the Democratics read these entrails to defeat Trump via realpolitik?"

Translation: Are democrats in America smart enough to examine the dead carcass of the Labour Party and understand that far left policies and radical leaders are not the future in either the UK or America and that a more practical approach to policies that the American mainstream will accept is a better path to political power for the democrats.

The answer is, of course, no.

Emphatically no.

As in never.

Howard,

In picking through your word salad, I noticed that you are using the wrong dressing. Realpolitik refers to practical rather than ideological politics. Just like the Soviets, your "democratics" are totally ideological.

Like him or not, Trump strikes me as one of our most practical Presidents. That's why they have to go to rhetorical extremes to villainies him.

I will say things bad about adverbs. They clutter up otherwise clear language. Or, they needlessly clutter up otherwise profoundly and unambiguously clear language.

Maybe Howard meant by "realpolitik" outright bribery. That has been the standard method for Democrats since, oh I don't know, maybe the 1924 Demnocrat convention when the Klan marched out side.

Twenty thousand members of the Ku Klux Klan and their relatives celebrated Independence Day here with demonstrations against Governor Smith of New York and his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for President.

Bribery was enlisted then and has continued.

Butkus51 said...

You do know Titania McGrath is a parody account.

And truth still is stranger than fiction.

Quaestor said...

He's British.

So...?

There's a point where pedantry merges with idiocy.

Quaestor said...

Will the Democratics [sic] read these entrails to defeat Trump via realpolitik?

Assuming you have friends and they are deranged then it is a fool's errand trying to draw any defensible conclusion from their alleged enthusiasm for BoJo or Brexit.

As for your invocation of realpolitik...

Quaestor said...

Michael K writes: Bribery was enlisted then and has continued.

Only now they use the "don't look at me, I'm only an ex-president" dodge.

And then there's Obama's $300 million dollar kickback from Netflix in payment for his net neutrality executive order.

If you can't copyright them, they're not yours, now, are they?

What would Monty Python have done with modern "pronouns"?
The mind boggles.

PB said...

Does he not recognize, I, you or we? Those are pronouns.

SDaly said...

Why do people need to specify both their preferred nominative and objective pronouns. Does anyone say, for example, my pronouns are he/her, she/him, she/them...?

gadfly said...

The Labour party promised massive spending, free stuff, and economic revolution. It pledged to “nationalize utilities, railways, and the postal system, offer free university education, increase property taxes and regulation, and build hundreds of thousands of new homes at government expense.” They also continued to promote anti-semitism.

But, obviously, even some extreme leftists prefer Brexit to abandoning privacy for completing government takeover in the UK. Interesingly, the Scots overwhelmingly elected pro-EU supporters to their parliament.

SDaly said...

My pronouns are Hee/Haw.

Joe said...

What's strange about Corbyn is that even UK leftists didn't like him. To be fair, May was heavily disliked by the right. Tony Blair was loathed. This is a big problem with a parliamentary system.

Yep. Played over and over, the clip made we wonder if British donkeys make "he/him" sounds when they bray.

It's either very sad or extremely hilarious that a literal walking dick feels compelled to announce his pronouns.

I rarely share my story with people, not only because it put me at the lowest point ever but because it made me a person of ridicule among family and friends. I put all I had into Binary Options ($690,000) after hearing great testimonies about this new investment

strategy. I was made to believe my investment would triple, it started good and I got returns (not up to what I had invested). Gathered more and involved a couple family members, but I didn't know I was setting myself up for the kill, in less than no time all we had put ($820,000) was gone. It almost seem I had set them up, they came at me strong and hard. After searching and looking for how to make those scums pay back, I got introduced to maryshea03@gmail.com who helped recover about 80% of my lost funds within a month.

I had a small amount of sympathy for him, for being a true leftist. But then it became obvious he was a globalist stooge.

I want to highlight this. Corbyn as a younger man or more aptly before ascending to national leadership had a reputation as a principled man. He was more or less consistent: consistently despicable, if you didn't like his politics or took a firm stand for law and order and in defense of the UK and the West as a force for good, but principled. He once supported leaving the EU, for example. He has since shown himself to be a rank panderer willing to sacrifice principle for electoral advantage, and worse still, not very good at it. Good riddance to him and his ilk. He reminds of Bernie Sanders in that regard, a guy who could have maintained some semblance of dignity as a lifelong commie stooge backbencher, but who sacrificed even that intellectual and moral consistency (of being consistently incorrect, in my view, but at least morally coherent) to try to gain fame and prestige and power. These two have a lot in common, including the late tarnishing of their illustrious and useless "careers."

daskol said...

Like Bernie, just waving around Corbyn's carcass was not enough to fool the proles about whether these two actually cared to advocate for their nation's workers. It's the best the left can do, and it's not good enough.
