I just get Larry Tribe has dementia...

Tribe's question. Who else but the drafters of the resolution are to blame for drafting one so partisan?

Michael K said...

Tribe is very logic deprived. Is that dementia ? Does he still teach ?

Tribe is hilarious. What a dolt.

The 2 Articles of Impeachment you and your Lawfare buddies drafted are total bullshit. That's why no GOP Congressman will vote for it, Larry.

Mike Sylwester said...

Laurence Tribe sure is smart.

Tribe has lost his mind. Democrats are not responsible for the adverse reaction by Republicans to a kangaroo court impeachment proceeding bereft of both due process and fundamental fairness? Really?

I am not speaking figuratively. That is the kind of codswollop we expect from a low-IQ, paid Soros troll, not a Harvard law professor, regardless of his bias.

As I have reviously remarked, liberals often lack self-awareness. Mr. Tribe is no exception.

everyone (well, most nearly Everyone) on our side supports this!!!
NO ONE (not ONE!) on the other side supports this!!!
BOOOOO to the other side, for their lack of bipartisanship!!!

I haven't hear something That Funny, since back in 2009; when Barry O'Bama said THE EXACT SAME THING

Tribe is, as usual, wrong. There is bipartisan support for voting against the articles of impeachment.

The whole impeachment fiasco has been a strange experience.

I've resigned myself to never really understanding some people. There are people who are evidently high functioning members of our modern complex society. These people are able to communicate reasonably well. They're able to operate motor vehicles, computers, and smart phones. They're able to hold jobs that require relatively complex skill sets. And they have access to all the same information as the rest of us. But they don't seem able to process it and come to the same conclusions. The only thing I can conclude is that they're lying, either to themselves or to everyone else.

A partisan leftwing D-vote is what, exactly, Mr. Tribe?

Someone should remind him that 30 democrats voted with the R's to impeach Bill Clinton.

Original Mike said...

Tribe's comment is predictable, but faulty. The default position is not "impeachment". You guys brought the "charges", it is incumbent upon you to convince the rest of us.

Breezy said...

Given the House is solely responsible for impeachment articles and they can basically make up the rules it seems, can a future R led House undo this travesty of partisan hackery? Neither Trump nor his voters deserve this over that phone call.

Yancey Ward said...

Wow, Tribe is a moron- he set the bar for what is "bipartisan" in this regard. So, if one Democrat votes against impeachment, then that is the vote that was bipartisan.

Laurence Tribe is using some interesting logic. Interesting as in, "Hey...that guy rolling on the street in front of the oncoming traffic is interesting".

The great thing about the last 3 or so years is that the cover has been removed- self removed- from our media and academicians who, beforehand, had been presented to us as brilliant minds. People to listen to and take direction from. People with their hands on the pulse of what is happening. Tribe is one of those with that former reputation who has exposed himself for years now as a very dim bulb being sold as a lighthouse.

How does this happen? I did not take law from Tribe at Harvard. Is he brilliant in the classroom, but daft outside of those 4 walls? Or...was he there and tenured before people actually realized he was a dim bulb?

Well like many today, he is well credentialed but not well educated. They are NOT the same thing and we could use much more of the latter and less of the former.

Watching Laurence Tribe disintegrate during the past three years has been sad but fascinating. Trump ruins everything, especially his enemies.

Truman won in 1948 by running against a do-nothing Republican Congress. Might work the other way around for Trump, or contribute to his inevitable victory.

Temujin, I took Evidence from Larry Tribe at Harvard Law. He was very smart and a pretty good teacher. It is sad and scary how many smart, learned people actually believe what they should dismiss as partisan exaggeration or untruths.

He is reminding me of Bobby "The Brain" Heenan. Bobby Heenan was the best "heel" announcer the World Wrestling Federation ever had. Bobby would justify bad things the "heels" had done and tell us why the good things the "faces" did actually weren't. His commentary was sophisticated and entertaining. It obviously began with the outcome he wanted and always managed to find a reason.

Tribe is very smart, probably smarter than anyone you know. Find a better explanation than that he’s dumb. And stop the collateral damage to persons of below average intelligence. They don’t deserve disdain.

Birkel said...

I wouldn't have to go more than two branches along my family tree to find a half dozen people smarter than Larry Tribe. I'm not impressed by smarts. And I doubt Larry Tribe would survive a week without a group of people who are nowhere near his intellectual equal - farmers, truck drivers, machinists, mechanics, plumbers, electricians, and many more! (And some of that group who are Tribe's intellectual equal, to boot.)

Tribe's raw intelligence is hampered by his own self-imposed limitations. He is not grounded. He has read and believed his own press. He has had too many sycophants. It's not good for a person to be treated as Tribe has been.

ASIDE, and I have mentioned this before, Tribe made a giant stink about a Harvard dormitory being retro-fitted with central air. He thought it would disturb his views and be noisy. That's the sort of jack ass thing only the worst self-involved narcissist would pull. He's not a good person.

Danno said...

AA said..."Tribe is very smart, probably smarter than anyone you know."

Tribe sure hasn't show any of the common sense or use of his smarts in the impeachment that has unfolded. Contrast that with Dershowitz or Turley.

I'm in the top 1/10th of 1% on IQ, as were most of my friends in high school. If Tribe is anywhere close to that, he's doing an excellent job of hiding it

Tribe is an "intellectual", as in "it's an idea so stupid, that only an intellectual could believe it". There's a vast difference between living for intellectual masturbation (which is what Tribe does), and actually being intelligent.

And someone who says "it's not the Democrats fault that they managed things so poorly that not one Republican was willing to join them" is, functionally, an idiot.

Greg the class traitor said...

But, to answer Tribe's question: Trump is to blame

He didn't do anything wrong, and, as such, he did give the Democrats any valid reasons to impeach him

"Not one Republican" voted for impeachment because there wasn't any reason to impeach President Trump. Other than that the Democrats are really butthurt that he beat Hillary.

How intelligent can Tribe be, and still not be able to understand that?

Douglas B. Levene said...

Someone should mention to Larry that the 20 GOP congressmen who are retiring from Congress this year all voted against impeachment. They have nothing to fear from Trump. They can't be primaried. They're leaving public office and don't have anything to lose. They were completely free to vote their consciences and every one of them voted against impeachment. That seems like pretty persuasive proof of the weakness and partisanship of this impeachment. Honestly, it's sad to see Larry out there throwing balls in the dirt when once upon a time he could hit the corners with a 98 mph cutter.

Missed this thread last night.

Tribe is more educated than most of the people I know. More intelligent? Unproven. Academics, politicians, lawyers, all those types way too often mistake education level for intelligence.

Part of intelligence is being observant, aware of your surroundings, and being able to recognize danger. (Continually doing so is also a symptom of PTSD- but that's another story...)

In the mid 1990s I worked at a major university in an old building complex where only the very important administrators had window AC. One of the offices full of people with Masters and PhDs sent an old old hassock fan down to our shop. It had stopped working. The cord needed replacement. I was sent to deliver it back. There were a dozen or so such fans in that office full of highly educated people. And as I walked through the office I could see copper shining through every one of the cords of these old old fans that were plugged in to live outlets. I unplugged every one of them to much complaint. The department head asked why I was taking these working fans away. Pointing out the visible copper wasn't enough- I had to explain WHY that was dangerous.

So my challenging question is- did anyone in that office full of professors possess any intelligence? Or were they simply highly educated dummies?
