"When I owned Miss Universe, they always had great people. Ukraine was always well represented."

From Trump's first call to Zelensky, quoted in "Trump bragged about Miss Universe pageant — and didn’t mention corruption — in perfunctory first call to Ukraine president" (Daily News).

And, needless to say, Trump's release of the transcript of this first call with Zelensky blows the hack dem Ambassador's private testimony OUT OF THE WATER.

Again.

Unexpectedly.

LOLOLOL

The stupid stupid stupid feet-in-concrete slow-thinking unable to adapt dems really really believed that Trump would accept the advice of the dem holdovers in the NSC to not release these call transcripts allowing Schiff-ty and Pelosi and their deep state minions to go full Steele Dossier/Russia Collusion Hoax 7.0 on Trump.

They never thought for one second that Trump would release the transcripts.

And then he did.

Rapidly.

And this latest release right on top of the hack dem partisan corrupt Ambassador's testimony.

I thought Schiff-ty's already bug-eyed appearance was going to rapidly expand outward like a raging supernova and splatter the other panel members with whatever brain/fecal matter lies behind those bulging marbles.

Stone got himself thrown in jail, Mark- had nothing to do with Trump. I followed Stone's tweets during the Summer and Fall of 2016- he never once predicted anything accurate about Wikileaks' releases, not once. It should have been obvious to anyone that Stone was a bullshitting about having an in with Assange, but even Mueller and his 'brilliant' team believed Stone and spent months trying to prove it. Stone's problem was that he kept right on telling lies about it all, then lied to cover up the lies. He wouldn't be in jail today if he had just admitted 2 years ago that he was full shit and lying in his tweets.

Interesting psychographic info about Ukraine for the curious:

- Ukrainians & Russians have a serious 'frenemy' kind of relationship. Most people don't realize that A) they don't actually speak the same language (although most Ukrainians are bilingual Russian and Ukrainian) and B) they believe they are the original cradle of 'Russian Civilization' (Kievan Rus) such as it is and most feel quite proud of this, and angry at Russia for being such dolts.

- 'Holodomor' - Ukrainians harbor serious grudges with Russians over this Stalin era extermination. It's not a passing reference to history for them. Every Ukrainian alive today can trace their ancestry to someone who died during the starvation.

- Crimea and Chernobyl - Many Ukrainians feel like they're doomed to continue paying the costs for the Soviet era and that unlike other USSR Republics the burden of this history continues to land more unfairly on them. It's not entirely perceptually wrong. Ukrainians aren't opposed to Russia operating their Black Sea fleet from Crimea (it provides and economic boost) but they also don't want to suffer anymore unintended consequences from Russian presence or influence.

- Nato - contrary to popular belief, most Ukrainians DO NOT want to join NATO. Nor do they wish to be in the sphere of influence of Russia, even though they acknowledge this is likely impossible. Most Ukrainians, if asked which country they admire most, would say Switzerland...no joke.

- Ukraine is still the breadbasket of Central Asia. Soviet mechanization investments in agriculture there produced dividends 1000 fold. Incredibly productive if properly managed, which unfortunately these days it is not.

For those who didn't follow the Stone case- here is a summary:

Throughout the general election campaign, Stone kept making predictions about when and what Wikileaks would release, and he communicated this to other people in the Trump Campaign, including Steve Bannon. He got all of the true predictions wrong- literally every one of them- the only ones that were correct were the ones where Wikileaks had already posted their own tweets about what was coming- in other words, Stone was reading what everyone else was reading and passing it off as inside information. He lied over and over on his Twitter feed. Indeed, Stone became an inside joke with the right leaning blogosphere by October 2016 due to all the missed predictions and the fake predictions.

Of course, Mueller and his high IQ team bought the story about Stone really having an inside source at Wikileaks, and spent a considerable amount of time and money trying to prove that Stone was the conduit between Wikileaks and the Trump Campaign. At that time, Stone decided to start lying about his real relationship with Wikileaks, and he tried to pass Jerome Corsi and Randy Credico off as his link to Wikileaks- he also lied about his attempts to contact Wikileaks to get real inside information, and he concealed those attempts. He also put a considerable amount of pressure to get Credico to back up the stories Stone was telling Congress and the Mueller investigation.

Here is how Stone should have handled this: when questioned, he should have just admitted that he had no inside link to Wikileaks- he should have just released all the e-mails and texts showing how he tried and failed to get such inside information from Wikileaks- Wikileaks repeatedly gave him the brush off. Credico told him as much when Stone was trying to get Credico to lie- Credico basically told him the lies he was telling were ridiculous and pointless- risking so much for practically no benefit that any sane person could detect.

Now, I think there is a good chance that Stone will win a reversal on most of the charges on appeal- most of his lies are pretty immaterial since only a moron would have believed Stone's original claims about being a guy in the know. The one area, though, where the conviction is likely to stick is where he definitely tried to suborn perjury from Credico.

"catholic v orthodox"

Yes, didn't forget that one but I could go on and on with the psychographics...

One more thing for the curious. Hospitality. And this is a micro-personal thing. If you ever travel to Russia or Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Bulgaria et al DO DO DO endeavor to get yourself invited by a local family to dinner.

I have been all over the world and I never experienced such honored hospitality, or such gracious hosts, or such a phenomenal feast as I experienced in there. It's a cultural thing with its own set of rules and codes and it is a very serious thing as families feel how they treat guests reflects on their character. For Russians and Ukrainians et al they also feel that in a world that is unpredictable like it is where they live it is one of the few things they can control.

Be prepared with gifts, to eat till you can't stand, to drink till you fall down, and be introduced to their daughters.

But we all know he wasn't convicted for his crimes, he was convicted for being associated with Donald Trump. Political operators are all guilty of these sorts of crimes. Maybe like a week ago or longer Ann had a post about Fight Club and a quote from a writer talking about "acrobatic sex and emotional neglect".

With Ukrainian girls boy howdy...the 'acrobaticness', not the emotional neglect I mean (but I'll get into that).

They're like Japanese Katanas. Flexible in all the right places to prevent breakage but razor sharp where they need to be. I have endeavored to fuck one in half and have failed numerous times. If they were a gun, they'd be a marriage of an AK47 and German G3, completely reliable with all the German engineering and just plain damn reliable.

Emotional neglect - they're not cuddlers/snugglers. They view that and spooning as 'unmasculine' so don't feel put out if it actually turns out they're 'emotionally neglecting' you (yes...we men have feelings from time to time), but don't worry it's not they don't love you, they just need rest before another acrobatic session.

Stuff of champions. Just remember, marry them and get 'emotional' and you run a risk of them turning 'babushka'. Maintain your male frame and let them maintain theirs. Do not so at your peril. Stuff of champions but stuff of predators as well.

@Milwaukee Guy

100% spot on. Total Jersey Shore. When I was in the region (there...not Chicago) I learned (and this might come of as offensive considering the broad generalization) that:

Russian Men - They essentially regard any woman that isn't their sister or mother as a whore (aka having a price). Very chauvinistic and patriarchal, but very sweet and caring once she's hitched to him. This actually included extra-marital relationships as in once you do the 'I do' you both are expected to stick to your vows (i.e. frowned upon). In the Russian 'Thieves World' family is considered a liability. Have your fun but don't get to attached to that piece of arm candy, you might not be around.

Russian Women - The ultimate job of a woman is to be a wife and mother. Anything less than this can be classified as 'unsuccessful'. What a woman must do to achieve this doesn't really matter, so long as it gets done. Giving herself a 'price' is considered unfortunate but a girls got to do what a girls got to do.

I've done a lot of travelling in ME too (KSA, UAE, Oman, Qatar, etc.) and you'd see a lot of these girls (Uki, Rus) running around. You know why they're there. Got into an interesting conversation with one in Dubai one night while I was attending IDEX and straight up asked her about it. I was actually shocked. She wasn't there to make money, she was there to find a husband! She'd resolved that if she was going to be a wife and mother she'd prefer her and her kids be kept as a member of some sheiks harem than growing up back home in Donetsk. I really didn't know what to say. She was shockingly beautiful and in the USA, Germany or UK she could've had any man she wanted and probably treated quite a bit better (arabs treat women like shit...duh).

She offered to go upstairs with me but I don't pay for sex. She was a also probably a honeypot. What a bummer.

They don't number many, but the world is filled with some very very intelligent evil people. I sound like Sherlock Holmes describing Moriarty. They exist. Psychologically intelligence doesn't provide the buffer (it's a good buffer fyi) people think it does. 99% of all humans on earth just want to live and have a bit of status within the networks that are important to them (which incidentally continue to grow in size which is worrisome) but some people aren't satisfied with such a compromise.

In a 'world full of secrets' the answer is self-evident, trust the nation and its objectives. The institutions can fall around you but as long as the underlying premise of why they were created (a la Chesterton's Fence) remain, they can be rebuilt albeit with the rot stopped and cleaned out. The USA wasn't anything before WWI and WWII, and then it got a giant bullseye painted on it by every jealous and powerful crazy on Earth. That was inevitable, despite all the help we gave them.

There are lots of stars on the wall at Langley. They sometimes looked mad and silly as a san approach to dealing with a world full of secrets, and died for it.

During the short time this old man was on Match, some 20-something emailed me from Russia. Curious, I emailed her back, where in Russia are you, can I have more pictures of you?

She told me she lived in Siberia. I told her that many American men have figured out the Russian bride scam, five years and half the house. Wouldn't she better off trolling German guys?

because republican office members are presumed illegitimate, in the 80s there was a conflict over appointees like Robert white, who wanted the guerillas to win, because he had gone native, he was replaced by deane hinton, who the likes of joan Didion stared daggers over,

I had a Serbian girlfriend in college, not Ukranian. Does that count? Isn't Serbia in NATO and somewhat close to Ukraine? She was totally Americanized, really beautiful and really talented. Easily my favorite ex-girlfriend. She did not grow into an old fussbucket like Yovanovitch, that's for sure.

From CBS:

Stewart: Do you have any information regarding the president of the United States accepting any bribes?
Yovanovitch: No.

Yovanovitch: No.

Game over.

I too have become deeply concerned regarding Drago. Although never an especially coherent thinker, in recent months his responses have degenerated significantly, becoming more scattered and dependent on a steadily decreasing set of cliches. In an older person there would be an obvious medical explanation. In Drago's case I think he is experiencing increasing internal conflict as his beliefs diverge ever more starkly from objective facts. This diverts scarce cognitive resources from his communicative functions resulting in the mosaic of nonsense that he now regularly produces.

Michael K said...

Perhaps "engendering" is the more apt word, but I don't want to be attacked by feminists.

No, Doc K she did not have a mustache which in general is and should be a deal breaker. If one's girlfriend looks like Leonid Brezhnev, that isn't good.

It's Friday night - time to get a few beers with the guys. No more blogging!

ARM: "I too have become deeply concerned regarding Drago."

Very very touching.

Obviously.

Of course, all my concern, and all of yours I'm sure, has got to be directed at the courageous former Ambassador Yovanovitch whose astonishing and incredible bravery includes those moments during Embassy parties where she has, at times, had to wait for up to 5 minutes (!!) for additional jumbo shrimp to arrive, and sometimes there wasn't enough cocktail sauce to go with those jumbo shrimp!!

My God.

MY GOD.

Thoughts and prayers as our delicate former Ambassador takes the memory of those fabulous state-funded cocktail parties with her as she matriculates thru her newest "dangerous" sinecure at Georgetown.

I'm sure everyone joins me in those good wishes.

Drago said...

And of course, for ARM's benefit: "The Walls Are Closing In!" and "You don't know what random non-witness "witnesses" know!!"

Hope that helps.

I do give ARM credit for abandoning his amazingly tone-deaf "great awakening" ploy which, needless to say, was going over about as well the typical HoaxPPT economic comment or Howard going Full Norm Crosby.

ARM's willingness to move off an obviously dumb lefty narrative puts him at the head of the Dem Dummy Class.

So he has that going for him...which is nice.

Drago said...

ARM: "I think it went very well for the president."

Uh, ya think?

Question: Ambassador Yovanovitch, were you a party to anything that happened that is under review?

Ans: No, but I was sad about being let go.

Question: Isnt it true Hunter Bidens role at Burisma was of concern to the obama admin?

Ans: Yes

Question: When Ukrainian officials were colluding with the democrats to influence the 2016 election did you say anything to anyone about how that might be inappropriate?

Ans: Nope!
