"They are fast, hard-working, green-hearted people. I love their energy and greenness, and I am so glad my age-old eco-passions gave birth to so many little green pirates."

"I'm so glad my age old eco-passions gave birth to so many little green pirates"

this, from the culture that literally throws babies in the trash

These people are profoundly mentally ill.

I've read about the Hindu caste system, and now I understand why!!!

madAsHell has it right. There is a mass psychosis going on in the country.

Yeah, selective-child, the wicked solution, denial of life deemed unworthy of life for the sake of social justice, social progress, and democratic leverage.

That said, not merely disposable, but also recyclable. Planned Parenthood is on record for denying arms... legs, a head, and life, but also clinical cannibalism that harvests lucrative parts and clumps of cells for medical progress.

There's nothing at all to hate about that statement. Boomers and ur-boomers need to reflect on this.

if you are not interested in a comment about the carnies of yesteryear, stop reading now .....

Before the internet, when I got bored, I would try and think through what I guess you would call "what ever happened to" lists.
so I would sit and look out the Greyhound bus window, or if I were lucky an airplane window, in 1998 or so, and wonder ....
where, for example, in 1985 were all the survivors of the Bataan death march?
where, for example, in 1990 was everybody who picked up an STD while at Woodstock?
where, for example, in 1995 were the men and women who laughed about how easy it was to get an abortion in 1974?

God loves us all and no matter how much we have suffered or how foolish we have been, God has a way of restoring the years the locusts have eaten.

Now we have the internet to tell us what the later screen credits were for all the 'Hollywood actors' who had a screen credit in the 50s, or the 40s, to tell us who among the graduates of good old Wisconsin Law are still active in politics or in the judiciary, to tell us how many of those healthy and ebullient young men pictured on the iconic 1960 Topps football card set are still alive

God loves us all and no matter how much we have suffered or how foolish we have been, God has a way of restoring the years the locusts have eaten,

years from now these young people who pride themselves on their eco-sensitivity and their professionalism may have a reunion

I won't be there, never having attended a "festival"

although I went to a dozen or so state fairs or county fairs in the 70s and 80s

one wonders where the carnies from back then now are? I remember them all .... and they knew it, they knew I would remember them forever, when they refused to try to cheat me, God bless them all .....

I'm fascinated by how much hate is in the comments for people that literally are going out and picking up other people's trash for the benefit of our planet.

And Ingachuck'stoothlessARM, why do you think these eco-warriors throw babies away, I find there are a lot of people in the pro-life movement that also care very much about the planet and worry about the environment that we are leaving our children. Plus the woman who said that served in the Army so I think she has a deep dedication to service to our country and maybe that is why she also encourages young people to serve in their own way. Maybe you shouldn't make such broad generalizations about people that are doing a good thing.

What “hate”, Lance? Care to point it out?

"Green hearted", the new "Godly".

I used to scoff years ago when the religious right used to teach that secularism was itself a new godless religion. It has turned out to be true. With greens and the long list social just causes being the various denominations.

Hate as in the first commenter accusing a woman of throwing babies away, the second calling her mentally ill. Your third comment saying there is a psychosis going around this country. Those comments certainly aren't kind.

Or is that just civil discourse?

Care to elaborate and justify your psychosis statement?

I think I saw them at CBGBs back in '78.

Isn't this aversion to trash everywhere a white supremacy tactic. It honors the area that is clean and neat. And they do that to make black and brown people feel inferior.RACISTS!

You're new here. New to reading the comments as well as writing them. Certain people here have a certain shtick. Watch and learn. Meanwhile, don't be a faggot.

Conservatives picked up 50 tons of trash in LA recently.

Where’s that acknowledgement?

So judgmental. Sad.

A few points:
1) you were responding to a direct quote from a person, not a 'culture;'
2) there are a lot of people in the environmental movement, especially idealistic young people like these, who are staunchly pro-life;
3) how does generalizing that people who are part of a culture or ideology literally throw babies in the trash, make this statement somehow kinder?
