Beautiful photo as always. Reminded me of this verse by Lao Tzu.
All things pass A sunrise does not last all morning All things pass A cloudburst does not last all day All things pass Nor a sunset all night All things pass What always changes?
"Feels like Spring this morning after a long winter. Too bad it's only November!"
But that's how you get through these long dark winters. You deal with the dark but going out to see the sunrise and really using the hours of light. Value the light. And you see the miniature feelings of the return of spring when there's warmth after cold. Maybe there are 10 or 20 such mini-springs within the long season.
One of the songs in my morning-run playlist is "Painting Box," which has this verse that means a lot to me:
My Friday evening's footsteps plodding dully through this black town Are far away now from the world that I'm in My eyes are listening to some sounds that I think just might be springtime With daffodils between my toes I'm laughing at their whim
"I think just might be springtime"... but it's not springtime, just the good feeling of what might be springtime (but isn't).
It looks like a flight from/to Toronto, from/to Minneapolis, but I have no idea what would go north or south thru Madison? Just guessing about the directions.

All things pass
A sunrise does not last all morning
All things pass
A cloudburst does not last all day
All things pass
Nor a sunset all night
All things pass
What always changes?
Earth...sky...thunder...
mountain...water...
wind...fire...lake...
These change
And if these do not last
Do man's visions last?
Do man's illusions?
Take things as they come
All things pass
Badgers v Corn today at 11 AM.
It's going to be a beautiful day.
You wait and see!
It’s a great day!
It’s a great life!
The last lines of “Frankenstein, Part II.”

As the sunrise works its way south across the Madison skyline, will it ever reach the capitol dome?
Contrails which form an "X" in the sky are Signs From "Bob".

In New Hampshire in January, it's called "Mud Season."
You captured the moment at the right time, place and perspective. It sings
MadisonMan would have us skip right past Christmas.
When you open your eyes
To a brand new morning
And the sun shines
Above you
You pull on your breeches and say
Oh well
It's the start of a brand new day
For birds of prey
You live and learn your life away
In the midst of winter, I found there was within me, an invincible summer.

In these turbulent times, it's a comfort that some things never change.
Next year, Nebraska. Next year's your year.
Looks like Michigan and Michigan State play for a doll.

Nice. The contrails cause the picture to balance well. You have the shine, AA.
The other end of winter is also very nice. I was out with my camera at a pond a few years ago after a late snowfall and wrote this when I came home:
Snow falling from trees
A scrim of ice on the lake
Spring is coming soon
Looks like Michigan and Michigan State play for a doll.
Iowa and Minn play for a pig, and it is very popular.
"Iowa and Minn play for a pig, and it is very popular."
The hawkeyes won Floyd!
The Axe for all the marbles!
That looks very, very cold.
How cold is it?
[drumroll]
