Yikes. You have to remove those buildings to see a pure sunrise. Declare Madison a National Park and return it all to nature. Meade can be the Park Ranger on a mountain bike and Ann can be the colonial settler museum attendant at the little house on the prairie. Or better yet, she can be the one room school house's schoolmarm.
We had a sunset about two weeks ago looking west over lake Washington: One wispy cirrus cloud or two reflecting the constantly changing light, the street and house lights on the other side of the lake turning on, the Olympics in darkness with just a few snow spots.
We just stood and stared with others milling around the park.
"Ann Althouse said... "Google thinks it was at 6:37 AM. Google was right."
The iPhone app said 6:38. I thought that was too much of a change from yesterday. " Not that it's important but what made me doubt the time was that the sun was over the buildings already in the second picture at 6:38.
Oooh, time lapse! A Joby Gorillapod plus phone camera mount is very lightweight. The ball and socket legs can easily be wrapped around a tree limb or railing.
we will, in the only way we can from here. We will remember. from time to time, maybe the yearnings expressed in the following may provide some catharsis

In case anyone is wondering, losing your 23 year old son to suicide is far worse than getting diagnosed with incurable cancer.
Ask me how I know.
Go ahead, ask.
best one of the series.
What a difference a minute can make.
Totally random thought: When was the last time you thought of the movie or song "Born Free"?
That orange is spectacular.
That first one is pretty otherworldly.

Ben Wikler is quoted in this article from today at the WashPost.
All eyes are on Wisconsin, the state that’s gearing up to define the presidential election.
Not sure why, but the article is in their "Lifestyle" section.

It's a folk tradition... it's like getting ready for Christmas... "gearing up."
Probably quotes from colorful people from the strange places in the so-called heartland.

Are these sunup/set shots from your iPhone or do you have a "big camera" that you use too?
IPhone
Don’t want to be weighed down.
Would be better to have a big camera and a tripod... and do time lapse.

It is so. Treatable, but incurable. Probably have three or four years.
Pull for me, push for me, whatever works for you. Just don't forget to live your lives
