I was still in bed, warm under covers, at 7:30 eastern time. It was enough before sunrise that I could have gotten up and maybe gotten out before the sun came up. Bit I prefer to roll over and stretch, the think some more about getting up. So, my hat’s off to you!

An invisible need for a criminal investigation was ginned up to prosecute a “low-level” lawyer who has already been ousted from the FBI after he accidentally altered a FISA surveillance application,. The DOJ IG had previously determined that this “low-level” individual’s alleged misconduct "did not alter [Inspector General Michael] Horowitz’s finding that the surveillance application of former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page had a proper legal and factual basis.”

The surfacing of this announcement seems timed to somehow blunt the evidence found during the House impeachment hearings. So we now see yet another defense propagated by our third grader president after "I WANT NOTHING, I WANT NOTHING , NO QUID PRO QUO"

Good book coming out.

"Author Amity Shlaes is out this week with her latest book, Great Society: A New History, that gives us a fine-grained look into numerous aspects of the Great Society era that most other historians have overlooked."

Perhaps my least favorite so far... but still a favorite. I continue to be intrigued by the conditions of the surface of that lake.

I once lived in a town called Eat Tawas MI. I had 100' of beach on Lake Huron on the shallow Tawas Bay. Winter or summer the lake was like cover art on a romance novel. I should have kept the place for when I am 90 ys old, a seasonal painting of excellent art in a period where sensation declines..

Navy defies Trump's clemency of SEAL Edward Gallagher to save its institutional integrity.

“The Navy announced it was considering kicking Chief Petty Officer Edward Gallagher out of the SEALs Wednesday even though President Donald Trump had recently reversed his demotion. It was a stunning move.

Trump clearly seemed outraged by the prospect. He tweeted in response Thursday morning that “the Navy will NOT be taking away Warfighter and Navy Seal Eddie Gallagher’s Trident Pin” (the official sign of membership in the SEALs), though whether that will lead to the cancellation of the Navy's review remains unclear.”

He is Commander in Chief so I would think his decision prevails.

Back in WWII, Halsey and Nimitz regularly announced they were considering defying Roosevelt.

A lawyer for an indicted associate of Rudy Giuliani tells CNN that his client is willing to tell Congress about meetings the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee had in Vienna last year with a former Ukrainian prosecutor to discuss digging up dirt on Joe Biden.

The attorney, Joseph A. Bondy, represents Lev Parnas, the recently indicted Soviet-born American who worked with Giuliani to push claims of Democratic corruption in Ukraine. Bondy said that Parnas was told directly by the former Ukrainian official that he met last year in Vienna with Rep. Devin Nunes.

"Mr. Parnas learned from former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Victor Shokin that Nunes had met with Shokin in Vienna last December," said Bondy.
