A duck also spurs us to contemplate our lives in a way that the water doesn't quite have.

Sure, ducks on water are very pictorial. But, absent the duck(s), you concentrate on the water itself, which is fascinating and mysterious in its way. It reflects, and reflects upon, the sky. I love photographing water.

Ducks are no problem, but don't get me started on those year-round "migratory" so-called "Canada" geese. This is Jersey, not Canada. How did they get here, anyway? Frequent flier miles?; 11/23/19, 3:15 PM

I face northeast (60°) so only get the sunsets out on the boat. I’ve found the peak times for photographing cloud color are fifteen minutes before sunrise and fifteen after sunset. Your inclination may vary.
