"So they're pursuing an illegal invalid and unconstitutional bullshit impeachment."

Trump, last night, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Yes, Trump did 2 big rallies — the other one was Minneapolis — on consecutive nights.

To hear Trump's latest version of his "Lisa, I love you" routine, scroll back to 19:00.

It gets the message out in a way the media will report it, thinking it works against Trump, as they always do.

Awesome! I didn't like Trump as a candidate, but he is the best President of my lifetime. His mastery of flyting and use of the same in political speech is amazing. You think black men will vote for Granny Warren over Trump? Not me.

See AA's added paste about the 134-page opinion in the D.C. Circuit case below.
That seems to be quite clear as far as the Constitution goes, plus the argument that it is no way to rum a railroad if the oversight committee chairs automatically go into search for an impeachment cause mode any time a President of the opposing party is elected.

Its a legal term. Surprised you are unfamiliar with it.

President Trump is mocking Peter Strzok and Lisa Page because he knows what the Inspector General says about them in the IG report that will be released next Friday.

This impeachment now has its pronouns.

His energy continues to amaze. Great line at Powerline yesterday.

My wife told the president she doesn’t understand how he can do what he is doing while under nonstop assault. “I don’t either,” he said. It was both self-deprecating and funny.

That sounds like him. And not Warren or Hillary.

Trump’s approach is correct. Delegitimization this BS impeachment. Make the House vote. What’s the problem?

MadisonMan said...

I wouldn't call it illegal, or unconstitutional. Bullshit, pointless and un-needed, yes.

It's been on that schedule ('released next Friday') for a long time, it seems.

Let’s return to a favorite theme of mine - what a dumbass Trump is. In this episode let’s think about trade. Globalization has created two problems for the US: i: the rise of China, which now challenges the US as the premier economic system, and ii. the hollowing out of US manufacturing as US owned companies moved their production to low cost countries, often China but not only China.

Trump failed to decide which of these problems he was attempting to solve. There was something of a solution available to the first problem, a decoupling of the Chinese and the American economies and the start of a coldish war. To go down this path it was first necessary to assemble as large a coalition of trading partners as possible to then collectively challenge China. The TPP was part of this effort. Instead, Trump started a trade war with fucking Canada. It was insanely stupid. His America First bullshit put everyone else off to the point where formerly very close allies of the US are now openly saying that if there was a trade cold war its not clear which side they would support.

The second problem is the hollowing out of US manufacturing. The main villains here are US manufacturing ownership, the finance industry and the invisible hand. Trump has no clue how to address this problem, has never done anything to address the problem and the problem has only gotten worse under his leadership. It is in fact a very difficult problem that doesn’t have an easy solution. US consumers have become used to paying for products produced with slave wage labor costs. To change this would extract a heavy political cost that Trump obviously has no interest in assuming.

Trump is a complete failure at this point. He may extract a few minor concessions from China but he has not come close to changing the overall dynamic and by alienating our allies he has made the long term prospects of a solution much worse.

NYMag mad at New York Times for showing “poor judgement” in reporting actual true facts.

It’s not a swamp, it’s a cesspool, and as Reagan quipped, “It starts out looking like a cesspool when a man is running for office, but when politicians get to Washington, it begins to feel more like a hot tub."

it's a mine field, not a swamp, ringed with barbed wire, remember new York magazine covered up for Weinstein, for Epstein, kept Halperin on payroll, who else would hire chaitred,

What percentage of America has—like me—grown SO weary of this endless bullshit? 40? 50? Higher?

Who knows? The polls and the experts were blindsided in 2016 and it’s difficult to foresee they will get anything right going forward, with the Trump movement.

But nobody in DC gives a shit. Obviously. Good to know.

I'm looking forward to the general election debates.

So the free market is evil.

Worse? How? US manufacturing and employment are up since his election.

It is in fact a very difficult problem that doesn’t have an easy solution.

But let's blame Trump and give him shit anyway.

US consumers have become used to paying for products produced with slave wage labor costs.

What is going on in China today is exactly what happened in Europe and the US as we shifted from an agricultural to an industrial society. The parallels are almost exact.

To change this would extract a heavy political cost that Trump obviously has no interest in assuming.

Yeah, Trump has a track record of bowing to political pressure for sure.

"Bullshit"is not the same as that vulgar word "shit." It is a normally used in intellectual argument as a designator of a false argument.

The Church Ladies of religious cults cannot be bothered with truth because they see a chance to terrorize their brain dead cult they keep stuck at 3rd grade rules for children about using vulgar words.

Say what you will of his demeanor, or even his policies, Trump's ability to ad lib in any situation is godlike. When the protesters were ejected, he jumped on the opportunity to praise the cops who escorted them out. It was a two-cushion shot - dunking on protesters and loving on law enforcement - and he did it in real time! What Democrat opposing him has this exquisite comedic timing?

Gahrie you string together a series of weak arguments. Manufacturing used to be the powerhouse of the US economy now it is down to 11% of GDP. We are being crushed by our competitors. Similarly you misunderstand my reference to the invisible hand. The reason this is a difficult problem to solve or at least ameliorate is because of the market forces at work, which are largely out of the control of US politicians, despite Trump's claims to the contrary.

Granny Warren ALREADY MADE her address to black men
“Well, I’m going to assume it’s a guy who said that,” she deadpanned, pausing a beat for the audience to catch the joke. Then she added, “And I’m going to say, ‘Then just marry one woman — I’m cool with that.’ ”
She finished with a zinger: “ ‘Assuming you can find one.’ ”

a few years ago, when i was in nashville visiting my (then) girlfriend's sister and her husband;
Her husband said to me (out of the blue):
" I can't get pregnant, so my opinion on abortion doesn't matter"
And i said:
they told my great-great-grandfather that he didn't own slaves, so his opinion on slavery didn't matter

{Actually, first they told him that since he didn't secede from the union, his opinion about secession didn't matter.... But he didn't listen either time}

In the best case. In the worse case, it is a ball of yarns spun over decades, that threatens to unwind with catastrophic force. It has already caused whiplash for diverse Democrat politicians, journolists, and activists, and some, albeit fewer, Republicans with overlapping and converging interests.

I do feel a bit sorry for Lisa Page here. Both she and Strzok were apparently married at the time of their affair, and I think that at least she has kids. She cuckolded her husband, and the world knows all about it. Imagine the teasing that her kids probably are getting. Not that she didn’t deserve a lot of it, actively violating her oath of office in order to keep Trump out of the WH, or worse, helping to destroy his Presidency. But she always looked to me like the follower, following Strzok’s lead. She actually seemed to be almost trying to come clean last December when testifying before Congress.

The problem I have is with this culture that says the intel community can spend their time in domestic politics instead of their JOB !

I have a daughter who is an agent, also a lawyer ,like Page. I just can 't see her doing this.

Actually Trump keeps framing it quite accurately. I have several exTREMELY leftist. Bullshit is precisely their take on the matter. They're angry that the dumbocrats are too lazy to find anything legal to take Trump down. I'm not saying they'd vote for him, but they despise this chickenshit show. It doesn't play well for a thinking voter.

But the sex must have been hot. In their movie, they were targeting evil incarnate and saving the fundamental structure of the United States of America! Mysterious forces from foreign governments were out to get them!

They were helping to usher in the first female president of the United States against the wishes of the Deplorable's(TM)! In secret! They couldn't tell anyone. The affair seems natural doesn't it?

Then it call came crashing down, and the spark just isn't there anymore. They'll never get that back.

And now that Orange Man Bad is making fun of them...
