New word: issaidtobe.

"Giuliani Is Said to Be Under Investigation for Ukraine Work/Prosecutors are investigating whether the president’s lawyer broke laws meant to prevent covert foreign influence on the government" (NYT).

So once again, the president’s lawyer may not gather exculpatory information when under investigation by the House based on an accusation by his political rival’s campaign....

But Fusion/GPS? Hillary’s law firm? They can dig up dirt wherever they can find somebody to make it up, and it’s all fully reported by the press and fodder for secretive hearings by politically motivated officials.

Bill Clinton would have told the Democrats to take their lumps, and concentrate on 2020, but Hillary? A woman scorned. You would think she would be embarrassed to play it so close to the stereotype, but she’s as dumb as Warren.

Yep.

Why bother reporting that at all? Anyone who can't figure that out for himself probably can't read anyway.

Boy those Democrat DAs are on any guy investigating Ukraine like a duck on a June bug.

Reminds me of that guy that made the YouTube video about Muslims that set off Benghazi.

Sooper human effort.

“Issaidtobe” is a nice coinage. It sounds hissy and sinister and shaky and insinuating and slippery and sticking in a shiv and then slithering way. Who said the thing that is said to be? Why, nobody knows! And it doesn’t matter: it’s been said, so it’s a sort-of-fact, a shiny factoid, in fact it’s not just a shiny factoid but a smelly facturd, conveniently deposited in the middle of the discourse.

I think we can pretty much assume that "prosecutors" are investigating everything related to Donald J Trump and will continue to do so as long as he is President. I had little faith in the government of the United States before this presidency. The comportment of Democrats at all levels of government since 2016 has eliminated what remained. If someone can name a public institution that they believe to be uncorrupted by progressive perversity, I wish they would name it.

Just reading the Issaidtobe, I was not sure if he was possibly being investigated, was definitely being investigated, or if this was just another breathless hiccup. And if he was being investigated, by whom? Durham? Barr? Schiff? Or Manhattan. And...it turns out a leak from the team in Manhattan.

'Hey...NY Times. Here's the latest Issaidtobe."

Amazing how one sided investigations seem to be...

Soon as I read Manhatten based prosecutors, I got the political angle.

It’s a shame my first thought is political retribution and partisanship when I hear of any investigation of Trump and/ or associates.

I’m amazed with all the legal actions that have been thrown at Trump, much like the Coyote and the Roadrunner, he is still going.

Matt Taibbi's article today has a laundry list of discredited press reports, including: "January 19, 2019: “former law enforcement officials and others familiar with the investigation” tell the New York Times the FBI opened an inquiry into the “explosive implications” of whether or not Donald Trump was working on behalf of the Russians." The NYT has depleted its reputation for reporting news honestly. Therefore when we hear from the NYT "is said to be" we smile knowingly and ignore it.

LOL

If that were the case the case the dems would not be scrambling to get Rudy on the air as much as possible for as long as possible to keep talking. Instead, the dems/left are doing everything in their power to shut him up!!

ARM thinks no one notices this in the same way Inga used to pretend there were no mass graves in communist countries and the dems are claiming that there is nothing "socialistic" about Venezuela!!

Once again, the reality of what the dems are doing completely contradicts what their minions are bleating.

But only every single time!

I think Bannon has a point about calling these machinations the workings of the Deep State. Actually, it's not deep or buried at all. It's all right there on the surface: it involves members of Congress, senior leaders current and former of the intelligence and law enforcement apparatus, high profile prosecutors, judges, etc. Yeah, they also have peons they control scattered throughout the administrative state, and the administrative state is "deep" inasmuch as it's not subject to electoral oversight. But the conspiracies are in your face and upfront, right on the surface of things these days. It's become transparently a battle between the prior administration and the current one. Or call it a battle between the current administration leadership and the uniparty, where either the prior administration or the uniparty depending on your preferred formulation, still controls many of the levers of government. The uniparty is still trying to deny the insurgency. As the stakes get raised, and corruption of the Biden sort comes into play, the big worry I have as a supporter of the insurgency is that Trump and team will get ever lonelier because so many people in leadership are culpable.
The forefronting of political corruption, then, is a potent weapon against the insurgents: as blatant and widespread corruption is laid bare, the more people will gravitate to the uniparty opposing Trump. That's the strategic mistake Trump made when he mentioned Biden and Burisma on the Zelensky call: if he'd stuck to the 2016 related shenanigans, instead of broadening focus to the kind of nepotistic corruption rampant in government, he might have peeled away more uniparty types.

Rumor, innuendo, close association, a veritable whistleblower. Then there is WaPo, that is still working to extricate itself from the muck of Water Closet. Perhaps, one day, with Deep Plunger's help.

daskol said...

Excellent and restrained piece from Taibbi. It's not the deep state: it's a schism in the state. It's a transparent attempt at a coup, not in the shadows, but out in the open.

The Trump presidency is the first to reveal a full-blown schism between the intelligence community and the White House. Senior figures in the CIA, NSA, FBI and other agencies made an open break from their would-be boss before Trump’s inauguration, commencing a public war of leaks that has not stopped.

They said they were going to do it, Schumer warned Trump publicly what would happen, and it's never stopped. It's escalating, actually.

Russia and the Ukraine are not friends.

Come on, Democrats, make up your mind. Did Trump collude with Russia? Or with their enemy Ukraine? Or did he collude with both in order to doublecross them? Oh, wait! That's the ticket! He was going to backstab both of them!

The effortless turn the media has made from Russian to Ukraine collusion is truly amazing.

Excellent and restrained piece from Taibbi.

Thank you for the link. I agree it is a very tightly argued piece. The only thing I see wrong with it is that what he is describing is not new, as he implies. The Kennedys and Nixon had their own battles with the security apparatus. GWB was manipulated by the military industrial complex, in the form of Cheney. Intragovernmental battles probably date back to the Sumerians.
