The leaves haven't really started to turn yet here in Milwaukie. The Japanese Maples, the Gum and the Gingko are still quite green.
In front, the maples' red leaves and the Gum's (or the Gingko's) yellow leaves are so pretty on the walkway that I hate to rake them for a long time.
I just moved last year's leaves, which have been covered for a year, into the compost heap at the garden and rototilled it in. I am making some beautiful soil.
Tonight I heard a story from my local NBC affiliate. When the pollen goes high, the crime goes low. "It even holds true even for Detroit!" they said.
I smell some big science coming on. Let's spray Chicago's West Side and not the South Side for one summer. If it's as easy as making people sneeze more, I know I'm going to feel pretty stupid.
Lovely photo. I love this time of year. The weather is more consistently great. Contrary to rcocean's view, the crisp, cool air makes it especially great for me. I love the colors, the angle of the sun, the shortening daytime. Hmmmm.
Anyway my norway maple has stopped turning yellow and has gone to early oak brown, for its fall color choice. The smooth sumacs will turn hugely red in a while but they're green now.
The rocks? I don't know who's idea it is, I first came across it when our daughter wanted to know if we had rocks this size to paint. There was a city wide project to paint the rocks and place them around the city. Churches, after school programs, youth leagues, civic groups, private citizens. Gather and decorate rocks like easter eggs, or creatures, or concepts. No criteria at all. So I don't know who or why this got going, but it is clearly not limited to one locality.

two separate movies? Doesn't seem to Really cover it

No, no, no, Garbage Howie, Syria is east of here. That's where you're supposed to go so you can be torn in half by the Turks and the Kurds fighting over which one gets to bugger you to death.
Oh, I'm only kidding. Just tell them you're a US Marine and you'll be all right. I'm sure.

Great photo. I Love Autumn even more than spring. No doubt i would feel differently, if i lived in a colder climate.
OK, what are they? I don't see them as eggs, maybe potatoes,or perhaps river rocks from Colorado.

Very nice!
Oh, brother! Now fast-food drive thru windows in new restaurants will be banned?
Was at the cottage over the Canadian long weekend. Almost 90% turned and almost no leaves fallen yet, so very nice.
A great fall color movie is The Trouble With Harry. But only if you watch the BluRay restoration. It's l8ke a completely different movie restored.

It's way too early for Ohio peak color.

I don’t know why the painted rocks were there. They just were.
Fossilized Easter eggs?
Painting rocks and hiding them is a facebook meme with the youngsters. You post hints on where they are. Never seen a big stash of them, though...

Mystery solved, they're doodlestones
This is a project originated by my cousin in St. Louis almost a decade ago. It has caught on and spread throughout the world.
They say something must be done. But what?

Temujin, didn't PDT get raked for suggesting that windmill noise was a stressor and therefore a public health hazard?
Guess President Trump wins Wisconsin again!
