"He's a showman, into the narrative, and if all his enemies take arms against him, he will know he's the star of this show. He won't slink off like Nixon. And Nixon had his own party turn on him. That hasn't happened to Trump yet, but even if the GOP turned on him, it wouldn't be the same as with Nixon, because the GOP was never really on his side. It just aligned with him when it served its interests. He will be an even more poignantly heroic protagonist if his own party turns on him, and his people will love him to the end."
That's something I wrote on Facebook, after someone suggested that the Democrats may be thinking that Trump will, like Nixon, resign.

McConnell won't hold a trial, as he is not compelled to if the charges that come out of the House do not meet the threshold of high crimes and misdemeanors.
They all fight—Schiff, Pelosi, Trump. It so happens that Trump fighting for his political survival aligns his interests with the survival of what remains of our battered republican institutions. As he goes so do they.
I could feign surprise that you're a c**********, but after all, we've all unfortunately had to read your posts, so we already knew that. Good for you, confession is good for the soul, unless you're advertising.
But horse meat? I suppose next you'll tell us you're a Harvard man.
You should re-watch Stone's "Nixon"... on the whole, it delivers high praise to the great man.

Stone's movies are left-wing revisionist horseshit.
I hate to say I hate to say I told you so (over-emphatic because insincere) but as Biden falls, Hillary Clinton has cleaned up and is on the news again. Impeachment? The hidden target in the action is Biden. Once he's gone there is no Dem centrist candidate except her Horrorness waiting in the wings.
Prediction: prominent Dem congressmen will decide not to seek re-election in 2020. Among them will be Adam Schiff.
If Trump were impeached by the House it would be close to the election before it was done and he would be re-elected. The "moderate Dems" of 2018 would not be. Really, the country has not gone crazy, the political class has. Sorry for your trouble - but it isn't mine.
Howard: "Like Horse Meat"
Howard once again confuses Coulter with John Kerry.
When you're dealing with family or your countrymen it's a good idea to be soft and spilt the difference and think the best. When it's the hard left - as it is, now, cloaked, in the media - it a good idea to despise them as liars and fight like Trump and Corey Lewandowski every time.
18 minutes of tape - gone. Nixon. V.
Trump has released everything and nothing there that is remotely criminal. So the left lie.
The corrupt leftwing hivemind: We are alleging crimes so do the Mitt Romney / Nixon thing and resign.
FU leftwing hivemind. Go pound sand. +Up yours.

Have you noticed they never appear together?
Leftwing progs get their education at the movies.
Howard always struck me as a Burro kind of guy, however I'll aver to the consensus.
Guild! Give ma a beat!
Trump won't leave. he not a quitter. He looks at all this like a challenge. "Can't do it huh?" "Watch this." He loves proving doubters wrong. He thrives on it.

To be fair, it would be an easy mistake. If Ann Coulter had a penis, it would be larger than John Kerry's. Whatever she has down there is probably bigger than John Kerry's penis.
Maddow... is the devil in disguise, you can see it in her eyes.
Libertarian-leaning George Mason University law professor David Bernstein (no friend of Trump but from from a NeverTrumper) yesterday on Facebook proposed that “For the good of the country: Trump agrees not to run for reelection, Democrats drop impeachment.”
Downthread, Bernstein adds “Recession is looming. He's old. Both good reasons to git while the gitting is good.”
Further on, Bernstein comments: “I'm not saying it's going to happen. But it would be good for the country, and in Trump's own self-interest, if he played it right.”
Myself, I think his viewpoint is nuts, and agree with another of Bernstein's commenters who replies: “Please explain how the total victory of the swamp that implies is good for the country.”
“McConnell won't hold a trial, as he is not compelled to if the charges that come out of the House do not meet the threshold of high crimes and misdemeanors.”
I suspect that he will have a wait and see attitude, probably, I think, depending on what happens in the House. Someone has suggested that one big reason for the House Dems to be running their impeachment inquiry through the House committee structure, instead of independently, as was the case for Nixon and Clinton, is that this way they get to significantly limit Republican input and access, and completely deprive Trump of being able to defend himself. This is implicit in the revisions to committee structure implemented by Pelosi in January. (Another reason is so that Red and Trump district Dems don’t have to put their seats on the line, as many of them were forced by Pelosi to do so that she could pass Obamacare).
A trial in the Senate would, almost by necessity, be a lot more even handed than the House inquiry. The Republicans are likely to pick up some votes of Trump state Dems. And not even Romney is likely stupid enough politically to vote for conviction and removal. A Senate trial may be useful to counter and discredit a lot of the nonsense and blatant unfairness that the Dem House majority pulled off in their “inquiry” and trial.
I suspect that it will all be about how egregious the Dems in the House were, and when they returned their articles of impeachment. If I were the Senate Majority Leader, I would probably have a trial, if the articles of impeachment were returned in plenty of time for a Senate trial, but move for essentially dismissal on the pleadings if there were a chance that the Senate in the next Congress (with possibly a Dem majority) would be hearing the case. Not sure what I would do with the prospect of a Lame Duck trial. Probably vote to dismiss if there is time for a vote before the election (putting pressure on Trump state Dem Senators), and indifference afterwards. Of course, by then, they would know if the Senate majority switches parties in 2021.

I have no idea what a "Libertarian leaning" person is. Most people who say they are "libertarian" are just liberals who don't like taxes. Or they have a few Pro-business attitudes and are liberal/left in everything else. Its usually a way for liberal/left person (cf: Bill Maher) to present themselves as an "Independent thinker" then a standard Liberal.
This lying about your politics was fairly rare until about 10 years ago, when suddenly you had people like Rubin, Matt Lewis, Boot, Burt Stephens, and even David Frum calling themselves "Conservative" - During Bush/Obama years the Right wing media was overrun by these FAKECONS - Trump has forced them to drop the mask.
Scenario:
What if RBG goes while Impeach in the works?
“I have no idea what a "Libertarian leaning" person is.”
A large number of Volokh’s Conspirators are Jewish, but mostly secular/ethnic Jews (like the Volokh brothers). The one glaring exception there seems to be Bernstein, who appears more religiously Jewish, and, in particular, much more supportive of Israel. And even with the virulent antisemitism of the modern Democratic Party, most non conservative Jews in this country seem to be staying safely Democrats (I expect probably a result of serious cognitive dissonance). If he truly is significantly more religiously observant than most of the Jewish Conspirators, he probably cannot ignore or escape the constant TDS that seems to permeate much of the Jewish community these days. What seems irrationally partisan Dem to many of us with Bernstein, may look to him to be the voice of reason in the sea of zealous TDS that he finds himself in every Saturday.

That, of course, is the purpose of this circus. He will be g barred from a nomination until the election, which they hope to win.
It's Biden's rule carried to insane extremes.

If I say, "Kill them all. Have a Red Wedding* at the next SOTU,"
Is that illegal? Asking for a friend.
*Such a faker-I didn't even see that episode. In fact I hardly watched GOT at all. But it was all the gossip at the office. The general counsel had a wolf's-head helmet on a table in his office. ?!
I've brought that volume up in the past,
For additional context, law professor (and Volokh Conspiracist) David Bernstein also posted the following on Facebook the other day:
I'm a little amused that libertarian FB friends of mine who love conspiracy theories and never take the government's word for anything have decided that if official sources say there was nothing untoward about Biden and Biden Jr re Ukraine, it's definitely and indisputably true. Because Trump.
I want Trump to be *****PRESIDENT.
One * for each impeachment he survives.
I hope DeepState will oblige.
What's different is that Nixon was as guilty as sin and he knew it.
What's different is, Nixon had a sense of shame. Clinton was not similarly troubled.
Except for their retarded idea of open borders, libertarians should be very happy with Trump. He can't realistically do much about the budget or the debt, other than growing the economy, which is the only politically possible way at this point to improve those issues. So, what's the problem, guys? Trump has moved more things toward libertarian goals than any President in my lifetime. The left has always been the real enemy of libertarian ideals. The right push some things you disagree with, but the left wants you and your ideas gone, and by force if needed.
