"Pressure from the platforms at least has people thinking, This is something I shouldn’t be posting."

"A change in desire to post about a high-status product has consequences. The value of a status symbol plummets when people decide to reconsider how they ascribe status. Maybe it takes a journey on a stationary bike to realize the spiritual gangster was inside you all along."

The last few sentences of "People Actually Quit SoulCycle/Most boycotts fail. Why does this one seem to be working?" by James Hamblin. The answer to that question seems to be that where you were doing the thing to show off, it's rather easy to stop when it doesn't work for showing off.

But is "spiritual gangster" a term I'm supposed to know? (It reminds me of "the gangster of love.")

I see, at the beginning of the article, that someone is wearing a shirt with the words "spiritual gangster." Ah, I've figured it out: Spiritual Gangster is a clothing brand and it's one of the brands that you can buy at the SoulCycle shop. At the Soul Gangster website, the name of the brand is explained with these words (in all caps which I am to lazy to retype to spare you annoyance):
SPIRITUAL GANGSTER IS A MOVEMENT DESIGNED TO JOIN ANCIENT WISDOM WITH MODERN CULTURE.

INSPIRED BY YOGIS, ATHLETES, ARTISTS AND MUSICIANS WORLDWIDE, WE CREATE COLLECTIONS TO ENCOURAGE THE HIGH VIBRATION PRACTICES OF LIVING IN GRATITUDE, GIVING BACK, AND CHOOSING KINDNESS. OUR MISSION IS TO INSPIRE POSITIVITY, GENEROSITY, KINDNESS AND CONNECTEDNESS WITH THIS GOAL IN MIND : MAY ALL BEINGS EVERYWHERE BE HAPPY AND FREE....

WE ARE CONNECTED. WE ARE THE SAME. WE ARE ONE.
Okay, but stop yelling.

And now I'm stuck researching the term "high vibration." Yes, it's a term of art and it's not sex-toy-related. Here you can amuse yourself by trying to determine if you have the problem of "low vibration"?

Do you have "no real direction" and "repress lots of toxic feeling" and "feel like you don’t really care what happens to you" and "spend much of your time complaining about things" and "have an argumentative conversation style"? Or do you "feel like you live in the present moment... grateful for the resources, people and experiences you have in life" and "find yourself laughing at multiple points every day"?

And here's "How to Become the Best Version of Yourself by Raising Your Vibration/8 things you can do to raise your vibration and live your best life." You know what you can do? "Stop complaining." "Have fun." Etc. And here are "21 Tips for Keeping a High Vibration – How to Keep Your Vibrations High."
Raising your vibration, and aligning with your full light and authenticity is how you open to a new level of abundance, clarity, certainty, and self-love. This is how you not only align with fulfillment, joy, love, and harmony in your life, but this is how you step into your role as a way-shower for humanity. This is how you step into your role, ushering in the positive change and the return to greater love, light, and balance on earth.
I was going to research "way-shower." Let's just say I stopped when I saw there were 568,000,000 results. I think I'll take my energy elsewhere.

Rich, status-seeking housewives boycott company because CEO supports President who raises employment and wages for the hoi polloi such that they too might attain such status, thereby destroying Soul Cycle membership as a signifier.

Soul-sucking cycle, more like it.

I'll save everyone the trouble- SoulCycle is a cult exercise trend, the owner is a Trump supporter. D list celebrity calls for boycott. blah blah blah leftie virtue. Trendy cult exercise runs its course but decline is attributed to successful Trump boycott by D list celebrity.

8 things you can do to raise your vibration and live your best life.

The people who reject the Ten Commandments sure seem eager to live their lives by some other list.

Perhaps it’s the element of living your life in peace, rather than a perpetual state of self-improvement, to which they ultimately object.

Christianity is too incompatible with the rat race.

Stationary bike marathons are one way to get a runner's high/second wind. But, surprise, surprise that is not enough to make you a bringer of light and joy. The added oriental religion mumbo jumbo is never enough either. That's why the ChiComs biggest enemy is Chinese Christianity. That alone delivers the promises of happiness and hope the eastern religions and marathon runs don't deliver.

For people who proclaim that they are the tolerant ones, they sure do like to boycott and de-platform other people.

However, I was sucked in to the extent I had to search on "way-shower", which I interpreted as some variant of that useful device, often found in bathrooms, that sprays water when turned on, usually from a part called the "shower-head", and I could not for the life of me imagine what such a device could be or do.

The search showed me I was wrong in my supposition."Way-showers" are, apparently, "light workers who choose to bring their talents and gifts into the world in a larger way", which I guess makes them a sort of new-agey bodhisattva.

Paco Wové said...

Not to go all rhhardin here, but this sort of thing really seems to be sex-linked; of the people who go for this like catnip, 90+% of them seem to be women, and the men involved seem more often to be the woo-peddlers than the peddled-to. Surely there's some male equivalent, but I can't think of it at the moment.

Agree with Paco, thank you rehajm@8:32. It is as I suspected all along.

I could come out now and suggest people boycott Burger King because of the "Impossible Whopper", but the reality is the existence of the sandwich is a sign that the struggling chain is grasping to find a new customer base. When it fails in due course; you can all remember I suggested boycotting the chain and that's what you did to make the failure happen.

Actually "About 376,000 results" (punctuation matters), or only 124 actual results.

But the term is "wayshower", someone who shows the way, according to the first result of 138.

Paco Wové said...

I mean, look at the people behind that gobbledegook about "way-showers". Do they look like charlatans, or what?

I think it might have something to do with all the talk of vibrators.

NB: The eastern religions all seek individuals to lose their souls and to merge into a world wide force field that reincarnates or attains Brahma. Ergo: the worth of the life of an individual is nothing. That's why Marxism appeals to them. The Communists are a Class of Class War conquerors who attribute no value to any living individual.

Fernandinande said...

You don't have to read them all, the first search result for "way-shower" has the same definition as "wayshower" when you use the correct punctuation.

A big part of the problem with all these calls for boycotts is that the denizens of the Deep State, and the leftist media and corporations all ALREADY consider me a deplorable, an evil (and stupid) enemy of their attempts to impose a utopia on this racist, misogynist culture.

So threats to call me names if I don't boycott Public Enemy #14231 are meaningless. The boycotts that work are the ones where millions of people just decide that if Dick's Sporting Goods or Gillette think their customers are scum, they'll stop being customers. It doesn't take organizing. It just takes lots of individuals choosing to spend their money in a store that doesn't treat them like the enemy.

What Target did with Monopoly Socialism was amazing.

I'm trying to get a copy for myself, reviews look like a fun play. Due to capitalism, price is a lot more than the $19.95 it retailed for. Offer up I just saw it for $55, with $7 shipping. I bought one last week for $77, that is supposedly on the way to me.
