...Which is why global warming alarmists always ask the question, "Has [whomever] published in the peer-reviewed climate journals?" They know they have gamed the process and it is highly unlikely radically opposing viewpoints will be published. Renowned climate scientist, Dr. Judith Curry, recently had a paper rejected. One of the reviewers wrote:

“Overall, there is the danger that the paper is used by unscrupulous people to create confusion or to discredit climate or sea-level science. Hence, I suggest that the author reconsiders the essence of its contribution to the scientific debate on climate and sea-level science.”

Please note: the above rejection had nothing to do with the scientific merit of the paper. It had to do with -- gasp -- casting doubt on the "consensus." Remember: The huge monies that flow into climate study only continue to flow if there is a real or manufactured catastrophe....

Okay so in a day so filled with Trump lies and misstatements and bewilderingly weird behavior so as to almost defy description, this one may be my favorite and it almost escaped my attention.

In his press conference follow-up to his joint press conference with President Macron of France, Trump wandered into the subject of North Korea and Kim Jong Un largely on his own and talked of his beautiful personal friendship with the brutal dictator Kim Jong Un and then added, sua sponte, "The first lady has gotten to know Kim Jong Un, and I think she would agree with me he is a man with a country that has tremendous potential..."

Wut?

Afterwards, the knowledgeable reporters were quick to ask, "When has Melania ever met KJU?" She hasn't even been on the trips where Trump met the little psychopath. Turns out that indeed, Melania has not ever met with, or spoken to, Kim Jong Un.

This was another one of those fantastic Trump lies where the lie was not necessary to advance any deal-making or even any sneaky agenda of Trump; I was a such a needless lie that one marvels at the sociopathy of Trump in telling it. As if no one would check; it just sounded nice at the time. So Trump has talked to Melania about Kim; and Melania meets many famous and powerful people and she like many of them and many of them like her. Uh, right? we might think that Melania "has gotten to know Kim Jong Un" the way that then-candidate Trump once "appeared 60 minutes with Vladimir Putin." Which is to say that Trump did an interview in the U.S., and Putin did an interview in Russia, and the interviews aired on the same program on the same night.

So yeah, the inevitable fact-checking exposes this fabulous Trump fiction.

White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said in a statement later Monday: "President Trump confides in his wife on many issues including the detailed elements of his strong relationship with Chairman Kim -- and while the First Lady hasn't met him, the President feels like she's gotten to know him too."

Trump lies are so routine now, it is only the really curious lies -- the inexplicably weird lies like this one -- that get me fired up.

What are the odds on Althouse blogging this story?

There's nothing to fight about.

Obama-gave-us-a-"dream-perfect-economy" Chuck is in full flop sweat panic mode at the thought of Bidens campaign implosion and so Chuck is now going to increase the quantity and amplitude of his obama/biden suck ups while increasing the intensity of his lying about Trump.

Its all rather straightforward and predictable at this point.

The thing to watch for is the now inevitable full dem/LLR switch to Warren which will require Chuck to no longer project Bidens flaws onto Trump but instead start projecting Warrens flaws onto Trump.

I think that inflection point will be an obvious one.

Trump's lie about how Melania has gotten to know Kim Jong Un reminds me of a startlingly similar lie, from none other than Hillary and Bill Clinton.

That is, the lie that Hillary Clinton's first name (with two l's) was adopted by Hillary's mother because she had read about Sir Edmund Hillary. The basic story has been deconstructed and lampooned by a variety of fact-checkers who note that Edmund Hillary was a little-known New Zealand beekeeper when Hillary was born, and it was not until about six years after Hillary Rodham was born and named, that the New Zealand mountain climber became famous by summiting Mt. Everest with Tenzing Norgay.

Snopes does a delightful job of debunking every part of the story.

That's where Trump is. Way, way out there in Falsehoodland, far beyond even the pathological lying Clintons. Lies that make a normal person shake their head and wonder whether it is all just lying for the sake of lying.

I have assiduously avoided watching any of the Disney "Star Wars" movies. The ineptness of the prequels from 1999-2005 cured me of my love for the series. I never particularly liked the first movie, but deeply loved "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi"- both of those films I will stop and watch when I find them channel surfing. However, I don't think I have ever been more disappointed in a film than I was walking out after watching "The Phantom Menace." I still went to the theater to see "Attack of the Clones", but I would have walked out of the movie if I hadn't been aware that it contained the first scene of Yoda in actual combat- I made a mistake in seeing the movie to the end. I only watched "Revenge of the Sith" a couple of years after it had been released in the theaters, and wish I had never seen it at all. I made a promise right then and there that I would never watch anything made in its name again.

I’ll answer. Because this is petty nitpicking at best. No one cares if Melania met Kim or not. This is small potatoes to say it nicely. All politicians huff and puff; Trump is no different. But when Trump does it, you react so negatively that you’d think he’d dropped a nuke on London or something.

The reason no one cares and responds to you on a personal basis is because you’re the boy who cried wolf. Over and over again.
