"What's your ethnicity?"

The best you can say about this is: awkward rhetorical move.

And let me close in on this part, a word salad with one edible nugget...

... she is tired.

Wearing quilted armor in 90° heat, Conway tries to deliver her lines. But the newsman won't do the dialogue. Of course he won't! Why would he respond to startling nosiness with personal information? The "What's your ethnicity?" was never going to work. So she plunges forward into her — scripted? — "sick and tired" incantation.

She's sweating profusely, but only below the face, which is, I'm guessing, sealed with the waterproof spackle of makeup.

ADDED: How to spackle your face:

You've heard of building the wall. Your face is a wall, and a good wall needs spackle.

It all shows how stupid the reporters are, as far as I can tell.

Try the quote from Bridge of Spies (2015)

Hoffman: Don't go "Boy Scout" on me. We don't have a rule book, here.
Donovan: You're Agent Hoffman, yeah?
H: Yeah.
D: German extraction.
H: Yeah, so?
D: My name's Donovan. Irish. Both sides, mother and father. I'm Irish, you're German. But what makes us both Americans? Just one thing. One, one, one.
The rule book. We call it the Constitution, and we agree to the rules, and that's what makes us Americans. It's all that makes us Americans so don't tell me there's no rule book; and don't nod at me like that, you son of a bitch.
H: Do we need to worry about you?
D: Not if I'm left alone to do my job.

I thought that ethnicity was a critical piece of information and no decision could be taken properly, no course of action could be adequately examined, and no person could be treated with due respect without knowing their ethnicity. How could it be “private”?

I guess the rules are what they are at any given time based on what gives Democrats maximum advantage.

For instance, how am I supposed to know when to ditch my MAGA hat if I don’t know your ethnicity?

What is pillow talk like at the Conway house? Inquiring minds want to know.

I hope Vanity Fair, Daily Beast, National Enquirer, or HuffPo can sneak a reporter under their bed and get us the lowdown (professional tip: stay away from Fatso George's side of the bed).

E-spying is not fair! They have to get a reporter into the bedroom and under the bed to be credible.

That's easy. You are never supposed to ditch your MAGA hat.

First woman to run a Presidential campaign. And she pulls off the most stunning political upset in American history.

But that doesn't count for anything, because her uterus is Republican? SMH

Can you imagine if she was Democrat? Her face would be on every box of Wheaties.

I for one do not give a damn.

I am talking about their rules, not ours. It’s their rules I can’t figure out.

I'm so glad my left-leaning uterus has packed it in, ceding the field to the right-leaning rest of me! That thing was getting seriously annoying, with all its calls for Republicans who had no interest in it to keep out of it.

Not the best comeback from Conway, but I don't expect her every thrust in the hurly-burly with hostile reporters to be on the mark.

And what do you do with Trump's tweet? I take it as a metaphorical reference to whatever country the members of "The Squad" have in their heads as opposed to the real U.S. here on earth.

Anyway, this tweet sure worked.

I respect you for that, Althouse. I am being influenced by my AOL startup page, which includes a story every day about what anti-Trump thing George Conway has said.

On the other hand, you probably also don't give a damn about Demi Moore's Frozen Face Disaster or Luke Perry's Darkest Life Secrets.

Interesting point. You can't fill out a survey or a government form without giving your ethnicity. Yet somehow it is inappropriate in discussions. An interesting quirk in American life.

Just depends on where you're coming from, Conway was speaking for the Trump administration.

I am sick and tired of “ the squad” too. They can go to hell or should I say back to hell, which is undoubtedly their place of origin.

So DJT was telling the gals to go back to the places where their races come from.

I'm sure this is a shock to Althouse.

Who knew that it's race-based when whites tell minorities to leave America and go back to the places that the minority races come from?

Supporting a racist POS = being a racist POS.

Math.

HMM I seen it different. I seen someone hounding and badgering her over a silly issue? She got emotional and angry for sure but that is OK and looked real to me.

The only tweet that I seen that mentioned any race or color was the one from Pelosi? She specifically said white with the implication that a whiter america is not good. PDT did not mention any race or color. It is OK to attack White on the left.

The left has been allowed to link MAGA as racists. It is disgusting. I think most people outside the blue media zones see it like I do. The left has overplayed the race card and people are sick and Fing tired of it and PDT gets it.

Allowed??? That's weak cuck-talk. You people serve up easy softballs over the meat of the plate and are astonished when they get blasted over the fence.

I do. There is material there pertinent to the great theatrical work (what is it, a poetic epic? a drama? an operatic cycle? or that divine form we write down later and call history?) being performed before us. Here he has given us minor characters in a strange ironic drama (or is it a bit of comedy?) of their own.

The great playwright has chosen to give us a show, and such a show.

It is war Howard.
A caste war being fought between mismatched sides, where one caste holds a massive material advantage. This advantage shows up in the volume of messaging.
One side can swing at whatever they like, the other hasn't got a bat.

I know it's probably wishful thinking, but what would the left do if Trump wins decisively with the Electoral College and the popular vote? Would they self-reflect?

Yea, that's just not them. If murdering tens of millions of humans over a century of unmitigated failure doesn't sway your self-confidence, nothing will.
