This is the only avenue open for the conservative argument: exaggerated, cartoonish, reverse-race-baiting. Dems took away real argument when they went to “Shut up,” they explain. Trump’s the only R smart enough to have figured out to counter this.

Bay Area Guy said...

Anything untrue about the words in the tweet?

I'm not a big fan of calling folks "racist," particularly when there were once real racists out there like Bull Connor, Robert Byrd and the KKK.

But I think in modern America, there are more false charges of racism, than true charges.

The Jihad Squad has been falsely accusing Trump of racism, so in the spirit of the game, Trump is allowed to return the favor.

Regardless of what one thinks of Trump, you must concede that unlike Romney and McCain, Trump fights back and wins. Whether he will win a second term, though, remains to be seen.

"The once great Democratic Party..."

There was a time in the not-so-distant past where a person like Omar - regardless of the information that has recently come to light - would've sent every reasonable American citizen with an IQ larger than 60 fleeing to any candidate that WAS NOT her.

Quite literally isolated, forgotten, abandoned, and likely indicted on any or all of the various malfeasances attributed to her....which of course might still happen.

But the past is as much an 'undiscovered country' as the future is. Those people cheering her on ARE NOT my countrymen and women. Period. They have abandoned the only thing I thought they might've had left, a sense of disgust, which they don't.

Omar is the face behind the mask. The face of a 'will to power' unmasked and revealed in all it's revulsion. The face of the 'ends justifies the means'. In no other alternate reality does this person have a role in the country except to either be denied entry or thrown in jail for faking things needed to gain entry.

But they cheer her because she's a foil to attack Trump. That is what we call hitting rock bottom but keep digging....

TrespassersW said...

One point of disagreement with that tweet: "So bad for our Country!"

Not necessarily. If it causes people to become aware of what the Democrat Party has become (indeed, what it has been for a while but has been mostly successful in hiding), then ultimately, good for our country.

Kind of like realizing that one should not be gasping for breath after climbing a flight of stairs and finally, actually DOING SOMETHING to lose fat and build strength.

Meh. US ships are explicitly off limits and we are there to back that up.

Every ship from another country Iran takes just isolates them more.

As long as they don't touch US ships make the globalists in Europe beg for our help. We are energy exporters now thanks to Trump. They can always buy our oil instead.

I bet Iran doesn't touch a Chinese or Russian ship either. Just saying.

Iran is sinking under inflation in food prices right now. They are doing this for a reason. Don't bail them out with a war.

LOL

https://www.cnn.com/2019/07/18/politics/democrats-squad-reaction/index.html

Several Democrats -- from across the ideological spectrum -- are growing tired of the repeated headlines involving four progressive congresswomen as the caucus tries to push its agenda. In conversations that took place before the President hosted a rally in North Carolina Wednesday night where the crowds chanted "send her home" in reference to Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Democrats said they want to keep the spotlight on the issues that got them elected, not a fight with the President.

"The President's words and actions speak for themselves. We need to focus on the issues that got (Democrats) here: jobs, health care ... instead of the issues the President brings up deliberately," said one House Democratic lawmaker, who asked for anonymity to speak freely. "Anything that takes away from bread-and-butter issues is playing into his hands."

"The President won this one," said another House Democratic lawmaker of the showdown. "What the President has done is politically brilliant. Pelosi was trying to marginalize these folks, and the President has now identified the entire party with them."

Steve Uhr once again out on a limb all by himself........

Trump said they were against humanitarian aid, ICE, and homeland security. People might find out it's true.

If Iran touches a US ship or US personnel wipe out their navy. Right now just keep the sanctions in place and wait for them to fall.

Trump has painted Pelosi into a corner. If she reins in the Squad she'll look like an old white woman put the boot on the neck of minorities. If she supports them (or does nothing) then the Squad becomes the face of the Dems in 2020 and risks driving driving away moderates.

Every single Democrat presidential candidate has explicitly promised to give illegal immigrants free health care.

They have also promised to "decriminalize" the border.

Routinely endorsing acts of violence.

The list goes on.

They just hate freedom and the US and the problem is the squad makes this explicit and undeniable.

Hey, narciso, why don't you try making actual HTML (hypertext markup language) links again — using the guide I put together specifically for you!

Notice elsewhere that even Inga can generate such a link in her comments. Please don't just give up after only a single try or two.

If you're having trouble getting it to work (it's extremely easy to make such links, but you've got to know which characters to put where), simply practice a few times (on, say, an Althouse cafe post), and afterward delete your mistakes. Then you'll have it!

Here's how it works (note: omit the line endings I'm showing for clarity between sections; also, capitals vs. lower-case letters make no difference). I'm creating a link to Althouse's blog as an example:

text that precedes the link
<a href="https://althouse.blogspot.com/">
text that names the link e.g. Althouse
</a>
text that follows the link

Which then comes out looking (in one's posting) like this (notice that the link works!):

text that precedes the link Althouse text that follows the link

____

There is one potential gotcha in that some operating systems (iOS was doing it for a while with iPhones and iPads) will attempt to interject curly quotes (“e.g.”) when one types the double-quotes key. Straight double quotes ("e.g."), contrariwise, are required for bracketing the URL (universal resource locator) link — as shown in the exemplar at top; curly quotes emphatically won't do. (If you can't see the difference, zoom in.)

The solution to this issue (while it was happening in iOS — using iOS's crappy on-screen keyboard) is to hold your finger down on the double-quote key until the subsidiary menu opens up (displaying several different kinds of quotes), then select the straight quote.

Beyond that, if you fail to bracket your URL with straight double-quotes, as in that first exemplar (but your HTML code is otherwise correct), sometimes it will work… and sometimes it won't. Specifically, there are characters allowed to appear in URL's which are disallowed in (unquoted) HTML.

tim in vermont said...

Using a mac, leave off the double quotes, just put in the link. I don’t know about other OSs, but that gotch kept me from linking for a couple of months after having done it with quotes for years.

The Commie Quad: Four pro-terrorists, pro-Marxist, anti-white, anti-Semite and anti-American elected Democrats that no Democrat disavows. There isn't one Democrat running for president that disavows them. Not one. And how many elected Democrats at any level of government are disavowing them in whole or in part? None that I've seen. But our resident Lefties tell us Orange Man Bad.

Michael McNeil said...

AAT: As noted above, leaving off the straight double quotes on URL's does not reliably work all the time; that is, there exist URL's you'll run into where that tactic will fail.

Meanwhile, I tested producing html links on a Mac (MacBook Air running OS X 10.11.6):

text preceding the link
<a href="https://althouse.blogspot.com">Althouse</a>
text following the link

Produces:

text preceding the link
Althouse
text following the link

____

Thus we see that there's no problem at all (at least these days) typing and getting straight double quotes using a Mac.

I suggest that the problem you had in the past took place during the same time frame as it was also occurring on iOS (a few years back), and Apple has since reversed course on that change for both OS's.
