Things you can see from Iowa.

"Mayor Bill de Blasio, who was in Iowa campaigning for his presidential bid, ruled out terrorism or criminal activity" — from "Power Restored to Manhattan’s West Side After Major Blackout" (NYT).

The mayor better get used to power interruptions, as the green power (only solar and wind) being advocated by the Dems nationally and in NY will result in blackouts and brownouts when the sun and wind are not producing.

I drove through Iowa on Friday (I80), and only saw two political billboards the entire way. (Both Tulsi.)

But there didn't seem to be much of a billboard culture there anyhow.

New York is refusing to increase capacity in natural gas lines into the state resulting in the NYC-area utilities not allowing any new customers to use gas. As the Texans and other southerners used to say. 'Let them fuckin' Yankees freeze in the dark.'

He's not even liked in New York City. Seriously, what is de Blasio doing in Iowa? This is a man whose cluelessness is surpassed only by his ego. It's not a great combination.

this is a feature, not a flaw; DAMN America! and everything that keeps it rolling

Ruling anything out in two minutes is always a smart move.

He already knew the blackout was from his own ineptitude as a mayor. That's why he's looking for a new job.

This douchebag and mayor Peewee- There's your two Democrat party members with executive experience- utter incompetence coupled with absolute arrogance, mixed with a heap of racist agitation. Pure fucking garbage. What kind of goddam asshole votes for these despicable fucking worms? Jesus fucking Christ America, pull your head out of your ass!

Well, at least those poor women working in Downtown NY City don't have to be subjected to the evil sexist patriarchal horror of air conditioning....at least until the power got back on that is.

Get used to it. This is your life under Socialism that the Democrat Party is trying to push you into.

I thought New Yorkers were supposed to be smart. They're not smart - De Blasio is Exhibit A for that conclusion. I have no intention of ever returning to New York.

Well, that still leaves Trump as the only cause, right?

Ah, New York City, next door to the home of Pace Salsa: Camden, NJ.

These politicians seem to fall over themselves to rule out terrorism and criminal activity without any real firsthand knowledge.

Their core fear seams to be intimidation flash mobs, going into ethic areas and hanging minorities from telephone poles by piano wire. Yet one needs electricity to assemble a flash mob.

Our elites are so condescending. These are people who use broad, sweeping categorical statements on a daily basis who are afraid of citizen violence based on broad, sweeping categorical statements, takes one to know one. Yet when was the last time such enthic intimidation was practiced by on a broad scale?

Enough of the patronizing virtue signaling, please.

Americans have no idea how vulnerable our electrical infrastructure is. You would be amazed how simple it would be for a terrorist or criminal or bonzai’d eco-activist to plunge an entire American metropolitan area into darkness for MONTHS.

At night, they just need to light up the solar collectors with LED floodlights to keep the electricity flowing.

Problem solved. You're welcome.

(A 10x engineer solution, right there!)

However ineptitude in the mayor's office seems to have been a contributing factor.

The question of green power, the 21st century's equivalent of the 19th century's perpetual motion, is much more profoundly stupid than a matter of weather or nighttime.

The short executive summary at Quaestor's last link above is finely concise and clearly shows the problems with the current magical thinking of alternative energy.

Current people have grown up with amazingly fast and leapfrogging improvements in information technology which fools us into thinking that real hard physical challenges can be improved with the same trajectory. It just not the same thing. One is more real than the other with laws that are not so easily ignored. This is why after all these decades with advancing information tech, we still have not returned to the moon, or have flying cars, cold fusion, or reliable weather forecasting.

I wonder which of the Dem candidates will gather the least amount of votes. Could be DeBlasio. I bet that in some primaries he won't win a single vote. Williamson will beat his vote tally handily. He could take charisma lessons from Warren.

Despite New York's rabid leftism, I still can't understand how DeBalsio ever got elected, but then we also have AOC from N.Y. The place is just an electoral basket case. Total irresponsibility born of emotional decision making and the corruption that plays it like a fiddle.

I think Inslee will be in the race with Deblasio to get the least number of votes. While DeBlasio was spewing about the power outage in NYC, Washington's useless governor Inslee was lamenting the death of the asshat who attacked the ICE center in Tacoma, resulting in a total loss of entropy for himself, thankfully.

I do wish the bastard had been taken alive. It would be good to interrogate him to find out which online and hardcopy sources had influenced him to attack law enforcement officers, and how he acquired his weaponry, did anyone bend his ear to influence him to engage in this attack, etc.

Loss of entropy would be a good thing, would it not?

Seriously, what is de Blasio doing in Iowa?

Running a presidential campaign provides all kinds of opportunity for graft and corruption. He will step out of the race before it get serious, with money funneled/laundered through his campaign war chest and some new kickbacks for his friends.

How to tell a true New Yorker: ask them what they think of the current mayor. If they like him, they're from someplace else.
