Frankly, I'd never heard of the guy. But this sort of masochistic behavior on the part of his followers is reminiscent of the followers of James Arthur Ray, New Age motivational speaker and his tragic 'sweat lodge' incident in 2008.

I've seen him berate an audience member in a video of one of his presentations. The audience member was on top of her game, so I was able to watch it all, but Robbins was way too harsh. He does seem like he would be that way.
Nevertheless, as my difficulties are primarily emotional, I find his comments useful.
It's like a great artist who turns out to be a horrible serial killer. But Robbins is only a little mean as far as I can tell, and I think this is a leftist move to intimidate.
