A candidate could say they have a plan for free college, free healthcare, and an end to global warming. They could even get specific. Like, say that we're going to insitute a massive new wealth tax to pay for it all. Basically have the government confiscate the wealth (not the income, mind you... the wealth) of anyone with a net worth more than 50 million dollars over and above that 50 million. As in literally take their third and fourth houses, their private jets, their yahts, liquidate all their investments above 50 million. That's a plan.

Tim Maguire with the first comment is right, I think. The media wanted Harris, but Harris increasingly doesn't seem up to the challenge, so Warren is the fallback candidate that isn't male and white. It also has helped that Warren is out there campaigning hard and is drawing larger crowds than the other ones- I do think momentum is with her at this point- other than Sanders and Buttuvwxyz, no one else is drawing any attention.

At some point, if she hasn't already, she will see that his support derives from what Trump can and will do for his supporters, not who he is.

The first debate is going to introduce a half dozen or so completely fresh faces. Biden is going to fall faster rather than slower.

A lot of people here seem to be predicting certain doom for Biden with Warren being the eventual nominee. I still think it's more likely that Biden gets the nod. The reason I still believe so is that I think it has to do with the Dem primary voters perceptions of the general election voters, who they think will appeal to them more.
And when it comes to the Dem primary voters perceptions, I think Warren's biggest problem is that she already "lost" to Trump in a way over the silly DNA fiasco. I think they think that that PR loss makes her too vulnerable and less appealing to general voters. They know that Trump wouldn't never let that one go, would be constantly reminding people of it with the Pocahontas nickname.
But I'm probably infering or mind reading too much right now.

Well, she's not running. This indicates to me that her influence among the Right People™ in the upper echelons of the party has waned quite a bit. To be clear, I've no doubt that she wanted to run. Warren has shown evidence of "evolution" in the past. She was far more conservative in her early academic career until she studied bankruptcy patterns and concluded that "average" Americans were not gaming the credit card issuers as many in Congress believed.
In general, I'd say this ability to learn is a good thing. It explains why Warren might end up winning the nomination, as Althouse suggested. Certainly Kamala hasn't shown much ability to learn and change up till now.
I just hope Warren has a plan for her concession speech come November 2020.
