"For his speeches... Biden’s hosts were obligated to serve him the same Italian meal, according to several contracts obtained through public records requests: angel hair pomodoro, a caprese salad, topped off with raspberry sorbet with biscotti."

"Since leaving the vice presidency, Biden has rented the McLean home and purchased a $2.7 million, 4,800-square-foot vacation house near the water in Rehoboth Beach, Del., to go along with his primary residence, the nearly 7,000-square-foot lakeside home he built more than two decades ago in Wilmington, Del.....  Biden released his tax returns in the past but has not done so since 2016, his last year as vice president.... The tax returns showed they had almost no investment income, and they often reported few charitable contributions.... Although Biden’s campaign said his paid speeches amounted to less than 50 since he left the vice presidency, it would not provide a list of them.... At the University of Buffalo, where he was to appear as part of a series of guests, emails show a request from a Biden representative that 'vice president' precede his name on the series poster, even though the title was also below it. None of the others — including former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice — had titles before their names. 'Just between you and I, it’s just something that his team feels strongly about. Sorry if it’s a pain,' wrote Romen Borsellino, Biden’s representative from the Creative Artists Agency. 'Ok — not a good look but will do,' responded William Regan of the University of Buffalo."

From "Once the poorest senator, ‘Middle Class Joe’ Biden has reaped millions in income since leaving the vice presidency" (WaPo).

He still retains the common touch: He's got a Creative Artists representative who writes "Just between you and I."

This is WaPo's idea of an exposé... for a candidate who is a Democrat.

Before clicking through to the comments, I predicted that the highest-rated ones would swivel directly to an attack on Trump. Sure enough, here's #1: "WaPo, instead of worrying about Joe Biden, how about some articles about how Trump and Kushner are enriching themselves IN office."

If he had the common touch he'd have written, "Just between you and me."

People wiser than me (stop that!) have advised that most of the Democrats are only running for President for 2 reasons:

1) to garner (heh) name rec for the 2024 race, or
2) to increase their speaking fees

Apparently, the ability to be introduced as "Former Presidential Candidate" can triple the amount you can charge a room full of shameless Democrats.

I too would like to see some stories, filled with verifiable facts, of how Trump and Kushner are getting rich off of the office. Because right now my only evidence is that Trump is kind of uncouth, I know that’s plenty of evidence, so come on with the stuff you have been holding back!

Plus, shut up about Biden. We don’t really care about the graft, we just want it going to our guy! Just like the whole rape thing, we just want it to be our guy nailing the women, willing or not!

Prior to Trump not bombing Iran , my mother and I were having an email exchange and she went totally off the rails about Trump in a completely irrational way and my only response was TDS ALERT! To her credit she responded with a probably so and a :-). They can see it if you point it out to them.

I've experienced that with a couple other people. If you're talking about skin care and all of the sudden the conversation turns towards Trump don't engage. Point out when all roads lead to Trump they have Trump derangement syndrome. You can snap them out of this. Unfortunately only one person at a time

Yes. My experience before I quit FacePlant was that these people are not bringing up Trump as an invitation for debate. In fact, that's the last thing they want and if you step in they will regard it as a rude interruption. Because what they really mean to do is Virtue Signal to their tribe that they are not one of those deplorables and would like an invitation to the Cool Kids table.

The are crafting an alternate reality where their life has meaning, Speaking Truth To Hitler! If you attempt to dispel their illusion they will react as if you have stolen their life's purpose.

Amateur thinking. If Trump is doing anything nefarious like that, it's centered around POWER not money. He's was a billionaire that was treated as a punchline. If he is corrupt in office, that corruption will manifest in ways similar to the Clintons and their Foundation.

Biden was always a grifter. Getting rich by serving his country.

Piece of shit.

The Biden family secured a billion-dollar China deal just days after former Vice President Joe Biden visited China in 2013.

So if The Sleepster shows up to give a speech and the pasta is not angel hair, what is his remedy? Tantrum? Double the fee? Leave and sue for breach of K?

I've that rock groups put this crap in their contracts on the theory that if the little ridiculous stuff is followed then the important stuff regarding their safety and security will followed too. What's The Sleepster's excuse?

I don't care for Biden and think he is a pompous, ignorant twit.

HOWEVER....that is a damned fine meal he is requesting!!! Weird to want it all the time though. Mix it up Joe!

I didn't know what a caprese salad was. Had to look it it and turns out is is also one of my favorites that I make very often. Creamy soft fresh mozzarella slices, layered like shingles with large tomato slices topped with fine olive oil, basil (fresh if you can get it) and sprinkled with medium coarse rock salt. YUM YUM.

And really? Who needs such LARGE houses. We are about to begin downsizing from our 1800 sq ft home and our acreage with an orchard, yards, wooded area, garden etc. Too much for two older people who can't afford "servants" to take care of all this "stuff' or 'crap' (to quote George Carlin)

Bribing a politician is illegal but there are many legal ways (created by politicians, naturally) to get around that. While the politician is in office, you can offer high paying do-nothing jobs to family members (such as the University of Chicago did for Michelle Obama and Joe Biden’s son’s business dealings) and make campaign contributions. After the politician leaves office, he’ll be offered lucrative jobs and speaking engagements as payments for services rendered. You don’t think Netflix gave almost $60 million to the Obamas because of their great ideas for new content development, do you?

@DBQ - try this variant on caprese that I like very much: drizzle a bit of balsamic on it. delicious, especially if you use a sweeter variant of balsamic (complements the acid in the tomato).

Personally I would never eat angel hair pasta or spaghetti in public, too much risk of splashing some of that pomodoro on your nice shirt or coat.

"Me" is correct [object of a preposition].

Our poorly-educated elite often say, "between you and I" because it sounds erudite to them.

Common.

Dust Bunny Queen said...

@ stevew

Good suggestion on the caprese. I have some delicious lemon infused white balsamic vinegar that is fabulous on butter lettuce salads. (4 tbsp olive oil. 2.5 tbsp white balsamic. Whisk and toss with the butter lettuce, orange wedges and pine nuts. Sea salt and cracked pepper)

I'll give the white balsamic mix on the caprese along with with some tarragon instead of basil. Also sometimes I use a modena balsamic vinegar and garlic olive oil mix.

Much better than discussing dumbo Biden, doncha think. :-D

The media clearly does not want Biden as the nominee. However, the candidates themselves will have to be the ones to take up the weapons against Biden. They should start in Biden's portion of the debate this week. If they aren't willing to do this, and try to do what Sanders did with Clinton in 2016, then Biden might well never be caught.

When you are in office, the bribes are directed towards family members, not the officeholder himself. So, it is the wives, husbands, children, and parents who collect the bribes in the form of ridiculously overpaid jobs and appearances.

"Some semi-educated people think 'you and me' is never correct. So, when one of them uses it correctly, you never know if they know it is correct, or if they are deliberately using it incorrectly(they think) for effect"

translated into grammatical English would read something like,

"Some semi-educated people think 'you and me' is never correct. So, when one of them uses it correctly, you never know if he knows it is correct, or if he is deliberately using it incorrectly (he thinks) for effect."
