Did "Warren, Booker stand out on chaotic Iowa stage"...

... as the Politico headline has it?
... 19 Democratic presidential candidates converged for the first time in one venue to make their five-minute pitch to the party faithful. The gathering, designed to honor Iowa Democrats in a Hall of Fame dinner, offered the first glimpse of a sprawling Democratic primary field — and the organizational strength and enthusiasm each campaign could muster.
Reading on, I see the "standing out" had to do with crowd reaction, which had to do with the presence of supporters in the audience. Warren and Booker had their people in the audience to stand up and cheer. There's no evidence in the article that they "stood out on the stage."

Biden and Sanders were no-shows, and they did their non-showing in a message-y way. Sanders participated in a march for $15-an-hour minimum wage in the same town as the dinner (Cedar Rapids). That demonstrates values, but doesn't show he can't do a second event in the evening of the same day. Biden's "campaign said the former vice president missed the dinner due to his granddaughter‘s high school graduation." Again, shows values, but it's a daytime event offered as an excuse for avoiding an evening event.

The 2 very old candidates ought to prove they have gumption and can stay up late.

I have the feeling that Biden and Sanders are no match for Trump.

At first read I thought a new candidate named Warren Booker had joined the race.

Looking forward to Begley’s account.

No doubt Biden went to the graduation parties for some hair-sniffing.

I think it's a more a matter of two smart front runners avoiding being on a stage they don't need to be on.

Sanders has nothing to prove energy wise. Biden's stamina could be an issue in the general election. I think Trump is already is highlighting it with tweets and by shaking all the hands of every graduate of the military academies he's visited.

If they were farmers they could be "out standing in their fields".

Recall when the media helped pimp any R.

Headline "Rand Paul and Ted Cruz really stood out at debate"
that never happened.

In a post-script to the article, it was also mentioned that Warren and Harris have noticeably larger hands then Biden or Sanders - noticeably larger than the boys - which was intended to say something...in a messag-y way.

I wasn't paying attention, but my impression was that Trump got good press in 2015. The media thought She would stomp him better than the others. I suspected She'd gotten him to disrupt the Republicans for Her.

Iowa Democrat primary voters tend to be extreme left just as GOP voters tend to be evangelicals.

I'm with Amexpat. I think right now the two who are already well known have nothing to win by playing the Iowa game.

Dr K is right! you get a Very skewed view of iowans from the presidential primaries (caucuses ) This weekend was Free Fishing Weekend; so Real iowans were out on the water, taking their poor relations (that can't afford licenses) fishing. You didn't even need a trout stamp.

Of course, Serious fishers (like me) got The HELL out of the state to avoid the crowds of clueless idiots that don't even own their own flyrods (i was in Tennessee, on the Watauga tailwater).

ps. Real iowans know that the Blazing Saddles bar is just a tourist trap for Bachelorette Party goers... There's much more real gay bars in Des Moines, like 801 grand

"Warren Booker" - co-presidents!! Why are we forced to abide by the outdated rule of just one president? Can we do away with that when we get rid of the Electoral College?

On a related note, if you could combine two Demo candidates, which pairing would make the best nominee?

Beto's head on Gillibrand's body.

It wouldn't win, of course. But it suggests possibilities in the sport of nude skateboarding.

The Golden Corral dinner buffet ends at 4pm. Maybe the caucus organizers need to adopt a similar schedule to accommodate these seniors.

The Dems have popularity contests inside of popularity contests.

You can’t just like a candidate. You must proclaim your support loudly, wear a button, meet at the prescribed time, clap and chant as loudly as possible.

It’s why they nominate weak candidates and are so demoralized to learn they didn’t win.

Stood out on the stage as in walked out there and stood. Not as in they were notable relative to their peers.

$15 an hr wage is much different in Cedar Rapids than in NYC or LA. Are the Dems going to make up the extra costs to businesses by raising taxes on the Middle Class? YEP!

Booker came across as passionate and aggressive on TV, but his message was all malarkey delivered extra passionately as if he believed his story that the advisors made up for him last night. That is the scary part. These candidates can all fake sincerity (lie) extremely well.

I like how he thinks spamming every thread in all caps will be effective.

Because surely, we are only ignoring him because we didn't notice all that...

I wonder what it's like to be these people. I was in sales, even did telemarketing. But we didn't kick in the front door and start yelling about why you needed a pre-arranged funeral.

(you do btw, to keep your grieving family from getting ripped off, and to take as much burden off their shoulders as you can that day. Funerals are for the living, not the dead)

That if they had been born men they would have bigger dicks?

Does that mean their vaginal canal is deeper and wider than most women?

I don't think they wanted us wandering down this path.

I off to rinse my mouth out with some Stoli. Blech.

They can't match Trump's energy level, and it will be obvious during the dog days of summer.

That's one of Trump's blessings. I knew guys like him in college - they could thrive on 4 hours of sleep a day. Got twice as much done as me. I really hated them.

My last day as a reporter:

"Senator Harris? How do you respond to the "smaller hand" implication that Senator Warren has a bigger vagina than you? There's a growing perception that ... neither one of you have cocks to being with. So what does it matter. Would you care to confirm you are cockless?"

Yancey Ward said...

Neither Biden nor Sanders needed to be on that stage- but there is a difference between those two- Sanders is campaigning full out, Biden is rarely seen. Biden will not be able to run a campaign that way- it simply won't work.

What wont work is that Biden just can't win.

Biden is Hillary without the vagina. Biden is Bill Clinton without the charm. Biden took millions from foreign interests instead of billions like the Clintons. Biden is old, sick, and Low energy.

Biden wont be the nominee. Sanders was bribed by Hillary last election. He actually thinks he can win this time.

Warren is the only one doing what she needs to do and she was finished the day she came out 1/1024th.

I offer no excuses to Biden. He is a nullity.

That being said, I DO know about both the airlines and HS graduations.

Our local venue had THREE HS graduations and they ran in two hour blocks from 12 to as late as 8 p.m., so 'daytime venue' is possible, not probable.

But going a bit further: Where was this HS graduation? If it was near Delaware or Maryland, exactly how many flights and connections do you think there are between there and Cedar Rapids, was it? That is a two hour or more flight, even if he has a private jet.

If he flies commercial, that is a two stage flight, one flight to a hub (PHL, or Dulles) and then to Cedar Rapids with an undisclosed wait time.

And considering he has zero to gain by being on stage with the rest of those bigger losers, I don't see any reason for him to push matters.

So his 'excuse' isn't just an excuse. It could be semi legitimate.

But unlike Democrats, I am fair.

The only reason Biden would go on stage with all of those other people is if He looked like the Alpha of the group.

If Biden would dominate the stage he would be on that stage.

But Biden is a mediocrity in all ways.

The fact that 70+ year old mediocrities are leading this group attests to it's weakness.

Democrats are banking on Fraud and bullshit polls by the media.
