I saw Deadwood the Movie. I had liked the series, but the movie was disappointing. It was written by David Mi!cher who wrote it whilst deteriorating from Alzheimer's. I feel like I'm booing Timmy, but it didn't have the bite and the bile of the original Swearingen was kind of cuddly. In keeping with the #me too era, he decided to make the brothel a dance hall. Maybe he could hire a girl named Kitty to hang out there and tell the Marshal to be careful and thus complete the cycle of rebirth and renewal.

I like that face/palm gesture the queen is making. With those shocked eyes it must reflect her thoughts, Shit! Shit! Shit! I married a hipster! I just noticed a man-bun under his crown. Well, there go my eggs...

Henry II & Eleanor of Aquitaine?

Possibly, but the Norwegian style would suggest less well-known royals were the models.

Latest manifestation of political correctness:

DC
DODGEBALL IS A TOOL OF OPPRESSION, RESEARCHERS SAY

'A team of Canadian researchers are set to lecture teachers about the moral dangers of dodgeball, a sport they say teaches kids to single out and violently dominate weaker students.

'Dodgeball is a tool of “oppression” and “miseducative,” the researchers say in the abstract of a paper cited by the National Post, which they will present in Vancouver at the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences, a summit for thousands of academics happening in early June. The “hidden curriculum” it teaches students is out of step with the larger curriculum, they argue.

“As we consider the potential of physical education to empower students by engaging them in critical and democratic practices, we conclude that the hidden curriculum is antithetical to this project, even when it reflects the choices of the strongest and most agile students,” the abstract reads.

he researchers add that dodgeball “reinforces the five faces of oppression” as defined by the late University of Chicago theorist Iris Marion Young. Those are marginalization, powerlessness, helplessness of those perceived as weaker, exploitation and cultural domination, according to the abstract. The story in the National Post is part of a larger series on the most interesting research to be presented at the conference.

“Despite the fact that many physical educators understand their vital role in helping students develop robust, equal, productive relationships and critical awareness, their practices on the ground do not always reflect this agenda,” they write. “We suggest that this tension becomes sharply visible in the common practice of allowing students to play dodgeball.'

Of course, this could just be a hoax article of the type written by James A. Lindsay, Helen Pluckrose, and Peter Boghossian (the academics who successfully carried out publishing hoaxes that targeted far-out politically correct scholarly journals).

But I doubt it.

Dodgeball is a sport of violence, exclusion and degradation. So, when you're picking players in gym class, remember to pick the bigger, stronger kids for your team. That way you can gang up on the weaker ones, like Chuck.

nteresting David Brooks column on generational divide in party politics.

Is it a “divide” or more of a “crease”?

That’s a joke you won’t get readering, but it explains why a lot of people don’t take him seriously. Go ahead google his name with “crease."

Deadwood the novel by Pete Dexter is a masterpiece.

Hmm. Brooks predicted in 2006 that Obama would become president. Brooks in 2019 predicts younger voters will remain overwhelmingly Democrats as get older.

tim in vermont said...

That’s some solid reasoning right there!

tim in vermont said...

It’s true though that our kids have been indoctrinated to like shiny pretty things over substance, and Obama was sure shiny and pretty.

Children must avoid experiencing any negative feelings whatsoever so they are well prepared for competing in the real world.

I suspect that the totalitarians want to raise a docile and unquestioning population.

Brooks predicted Ted Cruz would face Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Clinton would beat him soundly.

Hmm that for a few minutes, readering.

So agreement that Obama visuals make a strong impression.

I figured that Trump was the only guy nasty enough to take on Hillary and her enablers in the MSM. I didn’t even know about her CIA enablers then.

Remember when nobody was allowed to talk about Bill Clinton’s little peccadilloes like forcible rape? Half the country was part of a conspiracy of silence.

Anybody but you would wonder why Pinch Sulzberger's "conservative" mannequin has any cred as a political prognosticator after missing that obvious conclusion.

No Billy Blythe, forcible rape and sexual harassment were never OK, the only thing that has changes is that you finally can see that people might take your victims seriously.

The best dodgeball teammate has a good arm. But it’s best if the kids grow up with anxiety disorders as a generational epidemic on account of never having successfully faced any kind of adversity.

Jobs? I don’t know about where you are, but you can’t get out of your car her in the US without tripping over a help wanted sign. I was a Democrat when I was young too, an unemployed Democrat until Reagan came along.

Whose side are the Democrats on when 250K “migrants” in Mexico are bound here to file 99% bogus asylum claims?

Whose side are the Democrats on when Trump is fighting the Chinese from co-opting our economy and moving high paying manufacturing jobs overseas?

Whose side are Democrats on when it comes to the price of gas and affordable heat in winter and reliable air conditioning in summer?

Whose side are Democrats on when it comes to choosing between minimum wage jobs bolting on Chinese made solar panels or high paying energy extraction jobs?

Those are all issues that mommy and daddy worry about, so nothing bad will happen, right?

Fortunately schools don’t teach economics any longer so Dems are safe.

When I was a wee sprout, we played dodgeball on the playground - not in gym class. Why must adults interfere and organize and oversee everything?! Anyway, if you sucked, you just didn't play. Most children are capable of self evaluation in such matters - or quickly learn the necessary lesson. So no picking on the weak, powerless, marginalized...the stupid, however...

Next up, Red Rover!

Forcible rape isn’t “sex”

Here, read the evidence in the liberal magazine Slate and decide for yourself.

https://slate.com/news-and-politics/1999/03/is-juanita-broaddrick-telling-the-truth.html

My favorite excuse was that you couldn’t believe Broaddrick because she was a battered spouse going through a divorce, and so instead of using her bloody lip to get a restraining order on her soon to be ex husband, she made up a story about Bill Clinton, then got five witnesses to back her up even though they could have gone to jail for lying to federal investigators, that was a funny one!

But Trump mentioning that women let stars do things to them, now that was a real issue!

I just watched a movie, recently out, called Funny Story, and all through the movie this older TV star kept getting fucked by younger women. Hmmmm....

tim in vermont said...

I still am amazed at the denial of Democrats that Bill Clinton is a forcible rapist, even though the stories have been following him since Oxford. Why didn’t he finish? Why was he kicked out? Oh yeah, and at Yale there was a story too. The man is a sociopath.

tim in vermont said...

All of Blaisly Ford’s witnesses turned on her, none of Broaddrick’s five witnesses did, even though they faced prison. She only admitted she was raped in the first place when she was finally asked under oath and threat of prison for lying. I am sure that her lawyer advised her at that point to be truthful.

Rather than address border security, the House is focusing on letting everyone know that if you can get here they want to make you a citizen.

They’re whining about the price of an avocado going up, but don’t want you to consider what it’s going to cost to provide education and medical care to anyone who comes.

Are you kidding? There are women willing to be raped as long as abortion on demand is maintained.

Some would argue they owe it to him.
