Well, that’s how you get a true friend in Washington — buy a dog.

Quite surreal. What are they all looking at? Smiling so it must be good.

Glorious day here in the northeast of Boston. I'm thinking a hike at Halibut Point tomorrow sounds good. In the rain, of course.

the Ramble is one of the nicest parts of the park, but a very aggressive gay scene made it a little treacherous.
ok, effing creepy.

I'm surprised this bit didn't..garner..a fisking on Althouse:
“Mr. Speaker, it is tiring to hear from so many sex-starved males on this floor talk about a woman’s right to choose,” Torres said as lawmakers debated a rule setting up amendment consideration for a four-bill spending package that includes funding for public health programs.
I find it..deeply..concerning.

I never had a dog until my 60s. What I've learned from my dog is that he fundamentally wants to make me happy. He is tuned in to my emotional state, even more than I am. And he can discriminate between "when she's sad because he's watching a sad movie" and "when she's sad because of something in his life". When the dog does something "wrong" like eating the butter which I left within reach on the kitchen counter, the dog feels horrible, because he knows he has disappointed me (not because he has d one something "wrong"). I guess that's a subtle distinction, but one that focusses on the dog's motivations.

I'm not sure if Titus is responding to me, but if so, I deleted an earlier version to correct typos. and the 6:46 comment reflects everything I said at 6:44.

Via ZeroHedge:

Underlying the one-year anniversary in mid-August of the signing of the ‘Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea’ is one of the greatest oil industry swindles in recent years.

When representatives of the five Caspian littoral states meet on the 11th and 12th of August, Iran intends to seek some redress from Russia on Moscow’s manoeuvring last August. The Islamic Republic believes that it was robbed of its historical rights in the Caspian, conned out of a US$50 billion per year income, and left without Russia’s support against the re-imposition of U.S. sanctions....

...Iran was confident at that point that Russia would show some flexibility as, after the U.S. pulled out of the nuclear deal last May, Moscow immediately made a deal with Iran that would effectively have given it control of all of Iran’s oil and gas resources. Specifically, the deal was that Russia would hand Iran US$50 billion every year for at least five years. This would cover all of Iran’s estimated US$150 billion of costs to bring all of its key oil and gas fields up to Western standard, with US$100 billion left over for the build-out of other key sectors of its economy....

...The Iranians naively thought this meant that they had entered into a genuine two-way partnership with Russia but Russia didn’t see it that way,” the Iran source said. “In the Russian way of seeing things, once it had secured Iran in this deal, effectively making it a client state, it had no reason to honour any other of its previous obligations,” he added. “The situation was also worsened for Iran by the fact that Russia had its own problems with U.S. sanctions and didn’t want to make things worse by siding so thoroughly with Iran,” he highlighted....

So the bull shit from Brennan/Clapper/Comey was bull shit.
So they admit Crowdstrike was in charge?

And all their "analysis" was worthless 3rd party bull shit?

Imagine the surprise.

The Council on American Islamic Relations, terrorist ally, now sets the agenda for the Army War College.

the leadership of CAIR’s Pennsylvania chapter sent a letter on May 28, 2019, to USAWC Commandant Gen. John Kem and Provost Dr. James Breckenridge, urging them to cancel my event because “Raymond Ibrahim’s book … advance[s] a simplistic, inaccurate and often prejudicial view of the long history of Muslim-West relations which we find deeply troubling”; and how CAIR did not once cite a single sentence from my 352-page book to support their accusation that it “is based on poor research.”

After media outlets began reporting on CAIR’s displeasure with the USAWC, the latter called and assured me that the event was still on. I also received a June 5 email from my USAWC contact saying, “We are good to go for the lecture.”

CAIR Demands U.S. War College Withdraw My Speaking Invitation, Branding Me a 'Notorious Islamophobe'
Then CAIR and allies took off their gloves and got nasty. If a formal, ostensibly rational sounding letter of “concern” would not suffice, then hysteria would have to do.

On the very next day, June 6, CAIR issued a number of screeds, including a press release and a petition addressed to the USAWC by Linda Sarsour’s Islamist group, MPower Change. The overall theme is that, if the USAWC goes ahead with my planned lecture, the “racist” military will get so riled that American soldiers will randomly begin to massacre Muslims at home and abroad. The following excerpts from the MPower petition are typical; note especially the last paragraph (bold and underlining in the original):

They caved, of course. Obama's generals.

I attended my daughter's commencement today in Monmouth, Oregon. 1,800 grads, about 1,100 walked. One program is Early Childhood Studies (B.S.). There were 87 students getting this degree. 84 of those students are Chinese; that is international students from China.
I welcome all conspiracy theories.

Just finished Robbie Robertson's autobiography. How do guys under 30 write such lyrics?

The one that blows me away the most is Jackson Browne's These Days.

And I had a lover
It's so hard to risk another these days
These days
Now if I seem to be afraid
To live the life I have made in song
Well it's just that I've been losing so long

How can it be an "imaginary" movie project* when moves center around being imaginary? And pictures that movie doubly so.

This sad redundancy accumulates with age.

In my world, we all just smoke dementia or Alzheimers away.

Like by pork I got rubbed up and in the fridge. We just smoke it tomorrow and all worries fade. 5 hours.

*Is it possible an even 180 IQ could define a movie project that didn't involve imagination?

I see many many ways of defining imagination such that each and every single movie, project too, considered used imagination. My contention is would not be possible for a move project to not involve imagination shall not be questioned again is my assumption given the amount of smooth evidence.

Over at National Review David French has interesting observations on the Oberlin jury award. Here’s the money quote, and I do mean “money quote”:

Second, the size of the jury award will create a legal market for litigation. There’s a relatively simple reason why campus free-speech codes proliferated well before there was a concerted legal counterattack — money. It takes money to sue universities, and First Amendment cases simply don’t yield eye-popping jury awards. It took the creation of large networks of nonprofit, pro-bono lawyers to turn the free-speech tide on campus.

Common-law torts are different. Plaintiffs can receive real compensation, and universities have deep pockets.

We know about the Obamas' book deals and there now are quite generous pension and perks allowances for ex-presidents, so they should legitimately be quite well off, but I do not think what we know explains the style of living we get an occasional glimpse of by a passing mention in the media. There is just too much of a muchness.

Tiger started it. Dave Duval was a close competitor but he decided to bulk up like Tiger and it ended his career, He got back trouble from weight lifting and never was competitive again. I think he didn't play at all for a couple of years,

rcocean said...

Koepka has a great all around game. Yes, he hits the ball far. But it also putts and hits his irons well. He also has a iron will and a consistent swing. Unlike Speith who birdies one hole and bogies the next. Or DJ, who fall apart at the end, BK just motors along.

Who knows what the future will hold? Everyone thought Rory and Speith were the new Golf Giants who would dominate the game.

tim in vermont said...

Yeah, Koepka’s mental game is great, and he has the touch for sure.

Girls can't run as fast as boys.

They have 10% less hemoglobin than males. Oxygen for the muscles. Ever been "gassed out" after strenuous labor? That's that. You see it a lot of it in boxing too. After the first 5 mins when your arms and legs feel like jello.

Which is why the whole thing is bs. There are just some things hormone treatments won't "fix".

Won't grow you a uterus either, no matter how badly you want to identify as "pregnant".
