"Nicolas Cage has said he was 'too drunk' to get married in annulment papers filed four days after he tied the knot in Las Vegas."

"In court documents the actor claims he and now ex-wife Erika Koike were intoxicated and he 'lacked understanding of his actions in marrying [Koike] to the extent that he was incapable of agreeing to the marriage'... 'Prior to obtaining a marriage license and participating in a marriage ceremony, [Cage] and [Koike] were both drinking to the point of intoxication. As a result of his intoxication, when [Koike] suggested to [Cage] that they should marry, [Cage] reacted on impulse and without the ability to recognize or understand the full impact of his actions."

The Daily Mail reports.

I think this is video of the scene of the wedding...

I heard they were like 2 bottles of vodka walking around in human form.

Leaving Las Vegas (1995) Nicholas Cage and Elisabeth Shue

Ben Sanderson, a Hollywood screenwriter who lost everything because of his alcoholism, arrives in Las Vegas to drink himself to death. There, he meets and forms an uneasy friendship and non-interference pact with prostitute Sera.

The thing left unsaid is that there was no prenup I'm guessing.

People like him make a mockery of marriage.

Daniel: Okay, listen. We got married whether we like it or not. And it seems that it was, if nothing else, a little impulsive. Personally, I blame the "poo" drink.

Too much like the plot of Leaving Las Vegas (1995). Cage needs new writers.

I think of his performance in "Leaving Las Vegas" rather than the friends episode. Cage gave a very realistic and unflattering performance of an extreme drunk.

I was drunk with lust when I married the first time. It lasted less than three years

It was a learning experience that prepared me for my second marriage. It lasted 30 years.

My third marriage is my last. I really have it down to a science this time.

OT: I was just looking at a link that spun off the Nick Cage daily mail link on Lori Loughlin and the college admissions bribery scandal she and her hubby are embroiled in. They face "jail time!"

Hey - if Jussie Smollett wan walk - why not these two? a bribe is way less damaging than a staged hate crime.

Cage needs to get a grip.

"Cage and Koike have mostly kept their relationship low-profile, but the two were first linked when they were spotted vacationing together in Puerto Rico in April 2018.
They were photographed together again in May of that year while out to dinner in Los Angeles."

I doubt that a prenup is of much importance in Cage's case. He is notoriously improvident, has filed bankruptcy several times, and probably doesn't have a pot to piss in.

Cage has put out a series of real stinker B-grade films recently. Next(2007) was good. Long ago.

Nick Cage and Johnny Depp are walking train wrecks. Talk about more money than brains club, these guys are the club's founding members.

Was that leather jacket with the big picture of Sid Vicious on the back supposed to make him look like some kinda hip bad ass?

As a Sex Pistols fan I'd be embarrassed wear something that blasphemous in public.

reacted on impulse and without the ability to recognize or understand the full impact of his actions.

That would be grounds for most marriages to be annulled.

Nicholas Cage does not have the talent or the money of Johnny Depp.

Though the way he spends it, even Johnny Depp is constantly hearing the wolf at the door, which forces him to take incredibly well paying movie roles that he probably despises, as does Cage.

Which seems a suitable circle of Hell for both of these actors.

If you are on your fourth wedding ceremony not sure how sober you need to be. I suspect it was more about finding out afterwards that she still had another serious boyfriend.

Say what you want about Nicholas Cage, but his performance in Peggy Sue got Married was Olivier level.

Basically, he was asked by the director (Francis Coppola, his mamma named him after one of the real saints who understands the world EVEN BETTER THAN I DO, by a lot - and no we are not talking about poor Francis de Assisi here, he had a lot of gifts but understanding the world was not one of them - trust me, I like the guy but he chose 'mystical love' over spending year after year in a life where mysticism had nothing to do with the basic human desire to understand and console others, specific loser others who these of us who care about other people spend our lives trying to make, if not happy, at least not miserable - verb. sap.) ===== to begin again, he, Nicholas Cage the second rate human being and not all that talented actor, was asked by F Coppola to pretend he was some kid in Southern California who had little talent, was kind of stupid, and who really was not anyone special - but who had the minimal charisma that so many men have, to make some woman out of the thousands and thousands of beautiful women in this world love them, and, because those women love those men, consider them to be the man they want to love, ALL THEIR LIVES, and to be a man who one woman, out of the billions of women who have been born, might look at and think - and once a woman thinks something like this, she is pretty much committed to it - that man is the man for me and no other man compares -------- Coppola asked Nick Cage to act a role in which the actress would look at him, and with all her heart, she would say: that is the father of my children, that is the most interesting and best man I could ever find, any other man would be a worse choice.

I was gonna write a comment about how great my cat was, but instead I decided to explain why Nick Cage deserved his Oscar for his performance in Peggy Sue got married, even if he got that trinket for some other role. Sure, he is old now and so is Kathleen Turner, but they were young once, and full of youthful love and talent.

My cat was great because my cat knew that God loves cats.

It is just that fucking simple.

Strains of the King's "Love me tender, love me, never let me go" was wafting on the air in Vegas that night. And she won a big pot.

by the way 'verb sap' in my former too-long comment (4:51 pm) is short for the Latin phrase verbum sapienti... (verb - word, nominative case, sapienti, person who knows, dative case) and it means that the preceding phrase is not exactly what it might seem at first glance --- ( a word to the wise, buddy, is how the phrase was translated in old Jimmy Cagney mob movies - as in , a word to the wise, buddy, you can't trust that guy) ------ anyway, if you read my earlier comment, which if you didn't is fine, the two things that do not mean what they at first seem to mean are this ----- first, Saint Francis may have "chosen" (CHOSE), before he became a great saint, a mystical path, but that was not the path he followed - he followed the path I described - caring for the losers in this world as much as he could ------ and "these of us" does not include me in the "these" (THESE)----- it goes without saying that I would not compare myself favorably in any way to Saint Francis. The thought would never cross my mind that anyone would take me seriously if I did that. Well, I know a lot more about 20th century movies than he did, but I am not sure that is favorable .......

Thus ends my contribution to the comment thread on Ann Althouse's nostalgic post about 90s movies and the later shenanigans of some of the stars of those movies.

And yes my cat did know God loved her, but all cats know that, my cat was not special that way.
Dogs know it too but they rely on us for love too much and they forget it sometimes. Sad!
