"Mark Penn, Ex-Clinton Loyalist, Visits Trump, and Democrats Are Not Pleased."

That's the headline for a column by Annie Karni in the NYT. Excerpt:
As Democrats have moved to the left, Mr. Penn, with his centrist politics, has become alienated from a party in which he once reigned as a winning pollster and is a frequent guest on Fox News and the author of op-ed articles criticizing the special counsel’s investigation as a “partisan, open-ended inquisition.” He has even adopted the president’s term “deep state” to describe people he views as Democratic operatives sabotaging the Trump administration from within the government....

In an email, Mr. Penn played down the significance of the visit.... “Despite my misgivings about the Mueller investigation, let me be clear as a lifelong Democrat under no circumstances would I work paid or unpaid for President Trump nor was this meeting about that in any way.”...

In an interview with Politico Magazine last year, Mr. Penn said that as a White House adviser during Ken Starr’s investigation into Mr. Clinton, he saw up close the emotional damage that a special counsel can wreak on a president and on a functional White House. And he said he saw little difference in how the investigation affected Mr. Clinton then and Mr. Trump now — even though Mr. Clinton never tweeted the words “Witch Hunt!”

“The Clintons didn’t put their emotions on Twitter, but trust me, they had them, and they weren’t particularly different from Trump’s,” he said....

Clinton couldn't say witch hunt because everybody would think of Hillary.

“It’s a god damned coup d’etat!”, is what Clinton reportedly said at the time.

Still trying to compare President Trump to other like situated politicians. President Trump is not a politician. So when a self identified expert makes the comparison, the rest of his opinions carry no weight.
This specific comparison is a great example of President Trump's actions not being influenced by politics.

Penn claims the Clinton's never attacked the Starr investigation. While that may be true, the Clinton's like all politicians, farmed out their wet work to surrogates. President Trump does his own wet work. Very unprofessional for a politician, but not for a man of action.

and, as we know now, the Clinton investigation was NOT a WITCH HUNT. the Clintons have continued their life of crime in the years since.

It's the "president's term," eh? Like, he might not have picked it up somewhere?

The TV news implied this morning that Trump can't grant someone (Jared) a security clearance when the bureaucracy objects. It's a miracle if he doesn't feel besieged. I wish he'd bring down the Presidential hammer on his wayward subordinates, but that would be a crime to his enemies.

The Deep State DC rats, who are still reality based, are scurrying to leave the Dems' sinking ship. Penn wants off too. It's going down.

Barring a successful assassination on our beloved President , the odds are that we will experience a complete Trump victory parade that accompanies an outbreak of America First Peace and Prosperity.

The times they are a changing...fast.

Ken Starr was one of Epstein’s lawyers. Like NFL- lawyer Mueller, he’s a very shitty person.

Decent people would have turned the position down. Power hungry jagoffs relish these roles.

Lawrence Walsh was also an asshole.

What does "ex-Clinton loyalist" mean?

Is he no longer loyal to the Clintons?

No. The Clinton's are no longer loyal to him.

They booted him in 2008. Never let a scapegoat return from the desert.

Clinton didn’t have to tweet his objections since he had the entire media, not to mention the feminists marching arm in arm in lockstep to get his arguments out there.

The Speaker's powers are indeed awesome - under the present House rules, but the House can reorganize itself at any time without disturbing the Constitution.
Not so with the Executive branch - Article II speaks of he and him; not it or they.

The President's term "deep state"?

Like most things pinned to Trump by our journalists, I'm pretty sure that term has been around long before Trump. I coined it back at MSU in the 70s.

I find it sad that, as a lifelong Democrat, he can envision NO circumstances under which he would work for Trump. Minority employment at record highs? Screw 'em, Trump's a Republican. Seeking to eliminate the criminalization of homosexuality in the world? Screw 'em, he's a Republican. Peace in Korea? Screw 'em, he's a Republican. Dem's going so far left they are "putting names on lists" and threatening to implement the most destructive form of governance yet devised? Screw 'em, he's a Republican!

I wonder if, as a lifelong Democrat, he would deign to work for the Sanders campaign - after all, Bernie is no Democrat either.

He said this because he was: "damn sure that beating Trump & getting America back on the right footing is going to require a unified Democratic Party"

In order to obtain the required unification of the Democratic Party, Hillary's people say that anyone that admits that they have differences with her are 'irresponsible' and 'counter-productive'

“The TV news implied this morning that Trump can't grant someone (Jared) a security clearance when the bureaucracy objects. It's a miracle if he doesn't feel besieged. I wish he'd bring down the Presidential hammer on his wayward subordinates, but that would be a crime to his enemies.”

This, of course stinks. The idea that a bureaucrat working for, and utilizing power devolved from, the President can prevent him form having and utilizing whatever close advisors he wants, is ludicrous. In the early Clinton White House, a lot of the staff didn’t have security clearances, it was surmised by many, because of drug use. No matter. That President likely his toot too. And those security clearances were ultimately issued, despite that they would normally be denied. Here, a bureaucrat doesn’t like the man called Trump’s Brain. Possibly his closest advisor and coincidentally his son-in-law. That bureaucrat needs to reread the first sentence in Article II of our Constitution. Among other things, Kushner is the one behind the reproachment between Israel and Saudi Arabia (and the probably the one protecting the Saudi crown prince). Much of it is due to Kushner’s personal relationships with the key players. And thus screw up a critical piece of American foreign policy. For one thing, it is reported that the Saudis are talking with Israel about the latter providing a nuclear umbrella over Mecca and Medina, Islam’s 2 holiest sites(#3, Jerusalem, is already covered). This may keep the Saudis from going nuclear themselves. He needs a security clearance for that, and this bureaucrat is attempting to screw that up by refusing to grant the required security clearance. All this presumably based on the grounds that OrangeManBad, so his son in law must be almost as bad.

Mr. Clinton left office in January 2000. Jack Dorsey did not create Twitter until 2006, and it wasn't really big for another five or six years or so. There no doubt in my mind that if it have been around during the Whitewater investigation that Clinton would certainly have used it.

(Comment fixed to correct syntax error.)

I will add that I thought of the Clintons as a pair walking, taking tear ducts for the eight years of his presidency.
