It took the jury 5 days, but El Chapo is guilty on all counts.

The NY Post reports.

Nancy Pelosi just lost her head angel.

The leftists will demand he is freed and ICE abolished.

We will just have to add him to the list of cop killers and mass murderers leftists venerate.

I am sure they can find something in the 4th amendment that gets this guy off. They find all manner of ways to kill people in there.

I'm reminded of an old that goes, "Though it be slow we dare not call it injustice."

I think more and more about if this is actually true. You think of the damage this guy has done here and in his home country. The hundreds (maybe thousands) of lives he's taken personally or with his blessing. The inadequacies of a system of justice here but especially there that he's played with like a toy to keep doing additional damage.

For guys like this the line separating criminal activity and "threats to national security" are thin enough to be approaching invisibility.

Killing guys like El Chapo cause me to rephrase that old line, "Though it be extrajudicial we dare not call it injustice." Them and their buddies dying in a hellfire strike wouldn't make me think any differently about the outcome of the matter.

A decade ago Kamala would throw him in jail for smoking weed.

Now she supports sanctuary policies and wants him let go.

What changed?

El Chapo goes El bye-bye!

Would love to hear him squeal on some of the politicians he's been greasing over the years.....

Indeed, probably El Chapo thinks we should abolish ICE too......

Now seize all of his cash and property and use it to pay for The Wall.

Guess he wasn't able to successfully threaten jury members.

Earnest Prole said...

That’s one jury I’m glad I wasn’t on.

Emigration reform in Mexico. Baby steps.

El Chapo thinks we should abolish ICE too.

And Americans' civil rights, irrespective of their diversity class.

FullMoon said...

Not gonna lie, hoping he does some kinda miraculous tunnel escape.

Oh, and gets recaptured, of course.

Nonapod said...

My guess is at this point the powers that be in the Sinaloa Cartel look at El Chapo as a liability and didn't want to help him by threatening the familes of jury members.

Good time for a Sean Penn interview.

the assistance the us govt provided through fast and furious, was neatly sidestepped, but lets be frank, as it was when felix Gallardo, caro quintero, went up a quarter century ago,
there will be little measurable impact,

Pablo Escobar was a much bigger drug trafficker.

Mexico is too corrupt to rid itself of the cartels. It’s a waste of US tax dollars to incarcerate El Chapo. Someone should let him hang himself.

According to the article Guzman looked stunned and his wife is stunning. Coincidence?

Here's a good BBC article on some of the courtroom testimony in the El Chapo case. It's pretty harrowing:

1. Hi-tech murder room

A trusted hitman for El Chapo kept a "murder room" in his mansion on the US border, which featured a drain on the floor to more easily clean up after slayings.

Edgar Galvan testified in January that Antonio "Jaguar" Marrufo had a room with white tiles that was sound-proofed "so no noise comes out".

"In that house, no-one comes out," Galvan told jurors.

Galvan said his role in the organisation was to smuggle weapons into the US, so that Marrufo could use them to "clear" the region of rivals.

At the time, he was living in El Paso, Texas, while Marrufo was living in Ciudad Juarez, just across the US-Mexico border.

But both men are now in jail on firearms and gun charges.

2. Raping young girls 'gave him life'

Documents unsealed just two days before jury deliberations offered disturbing new accusations against El Chapo from Alex Cifuentes, a Colombian drug lord who has described himself as El Chapo's "right-hand man".

Cifuentes, who prosecutors say spent two years hiding from authorities with El Chapo in the Mexican mountains, claims that El Chapo would drug and rape girls as young as 13 years old, according to the New York Times.

A woman named Comadre Maria would routinely send El Chapo photographs of young girls that he and his associates could pick from.

This same woman was involved as an intermediary for El Chapo's dealings with Mexico's president, Cifuentes alleged during the trial.

For $5,000 (£3,800), Cifuentes claims Comadre Maria would send the selected girls up to Mr Guzman's mountain camps, where they would be drugged with "a powdery substance" and raped.

The documents allege that El Chapo called the youngest girls "his vitamins" and said raping them gave him "life".

Bay:

Why weren't these FACTS reported in the NYT and WaPo and on CNN and MSNBC? Instead we hear OPINION and SPECULATION all day.

I answer my own question. Because the MSM and the Democrat party want illegal aliens and drugs in this country.

Dave Begley said...

MSM also can't report on El Chapo because that will only increase American voter support for The Wall.

Dave Begley said...

I thought El Paso was a safe city. No need for a Wall. It's racist and inhuman.

Bay Area Guy said...

Mr. Begley sez:

Because the MSM and the Democrat party want illegal aliens and drugs in this country.

Bingo. And they want Democrat absentee voter ballots (ballot harvesting). And they want to turn Texas blue, like they turned California blue.

But let's focus on Trump's tweets!

Nah. Let's buy a bullet train.

5 days seems kind of short, actually.

The one time I was on Jury duty it took us 2 days just to come to a conclusion on a single count of assault.

BTW who has been buying and using all those drugs? What's the market for them?

Bob Boyd said...

I wonder if he'll get life in Supermax.

Precisely! See, Mexico will pay for the Wall, after all. :-)

From my recent grand jury experience, it looks like at least half the population.

Kamala Harris

Problem with that is no one (at least the authorities) knows where the money is. That was one of his rather weak defenses: "If he made all the money the government claims, let them produce it".

Like I said at the time, it's probably that house on the market with the Mondrian bathroom.

Functional. Looks like it’d be convenient if you were into dragging people home to dismember them.

Maybe Sean Penn can tell us.

AllenS said...

You simply ask El Chapo where the money is. If he doesn't give up the information, you torture the fuck out of him until he gives it up.

Bob Boyd said...

Trade him the money for life in a regular prison vs. being buried alive in Supermax.

It's for privacy. It's transhuman in a certain frame of reference.

Counting all the drugs that cost money to us taxpayers, the market consumption is dominated by red shithole counties. Sorry for providing scale and perspective to your little racist fuckfest.

Costs of Substance Abuse

Abuse of tobacco, alcohol, and illicit drugs is costly to our Nation, exacting more than $740 billion annually in costs related to crime, lost work productivity and health care.**
Health Care Overall Year Estimate Based On
Tobacco1,2 $168 billion $300 billion 2010
Alcohol3 $27 billion $249 billion 2010
Illicit Drugs $11 billion $193 billion 2007

Nancy Pelosi.

Pretty much every democrat leader.

Or are you pretending the open borders crowd aren’t real leftists again and that you are not on their side?

Remember that when Democrats are caught being racists shitheads it is the country’s fault. Especially people who don’t vote for racist Democrats.

And when Democrats rape women the country has a toxic masculinity problem.

Howard.

You are a stupid tool. You are on team racist. Fuck off.

Have a nice day.

My point being that El Chapo could not have gotten so wealthy without a considerable demand from this side of the border, and from people with lots of money to afford it.

I don't consider Pelosi to be a leftist, no. I don't know who you mean by "pretty much every democrat leader." There's aren't too many real leftists in the Dem party. But what does that have to do with el Chapo? When did Pelosi and "other democrat leaders" venerate el Chapo? Your comment about open borders is a non-sequitur.

In other words, you have never heard any "leftists" venerating el Chapo, (even if Pelosi and most Dem leaders were leftists).

buwaya said...

I agree that from the perspective of reducing drug smuggling this is meaningless.
El Chapo has long since been replaced.

I wonder how much payoffs from El Chapo and a great deal more, probably, from his colleagues and rivals have played a part in US politics. I suspect a great number of officials are on the take.

narciso said...

Yes the Guadalajara next generation cartel headed by el mancho Cervantes likely has inherited the store of weapons

cubanbob said...

Ted Cruz is introducing legislation to help facilitate the forfeiture of EL Chapo's and his gang's assets. Supposedly about $14bn. If that is the case and at $5bn per 200 miles of wall figure an additional 600 miles of wall. If the government can nab a few more of these top narcotraficantes that should be enough to build a wall from the pacific coast to Brownsville TX.

mockturtle said...

No question.

Oso Negro said...

@Buwaya - YES! But strangely, in the El Chapo case, no mention is made of his having bribed ANYONE on this side of the border. Not a soul.

Nichevo said...

Apparently, Robert, we have never heard any leftist at all because they don't exist. You have never identified a person who is a leftist and you have never agreed that any person identified on this Blog has been a leftist. It's like they're Scottish unicorns. Why is that?

Robert Cook said...

I just wonder if anyone who has “venerated” el Chapo can be named?

Nichevo said...

But stick to my point a minute because you do this all the time. Anybody who can be criticized is not a leftist. Anybody who can be named is not a leftist. Anybody who is not named is not a leftist. Leftists just don't appear to actually exist except as some pure, perhaps unattainable ideal.

It's okay, you don't have to answer. The problem is of course that very likely anyone who is going to be named as a leftist, more so any public person, is going to be some kind of person who won't make leftists or leftism look good. Like, say, Che Guevara (unless you like him?).

So it's understandable why you deflect. But please don't think that we don't see that you are deflecting. The beauty part is that you have cultivated a reputation on this blog for being honest and forthright. I say you're a squid who disappears in a cloud of ink.

Robert Cook said...

Talk about deflection.
